This is probably the perfect site.
You will find a sheltered wooded site, large level pitches (both grass and hard standing), 16 amp electrics, a new wash block with plenty of showers, along with 2 family washrooms and a disabled washroom, a wooded dog walk path around the entire site, very reasonable prices and the owners who make you very welcome, show you to your pitch and then allow you to enjoy your holiday.
There is no clubhouse or swimming pool, there are paths and bridleways from the site that will take you in all directions, both on foot and by bike.
Nearby are both the busy tourist traps and well signed tracks and paths to take you away from it all.

Just come back from our camp here for a 2 week stay. Marvellous site, very clean, friendly helpful owners who are very approachable. We loved how the pitch was surrounded by woods and wildlife. Saw red squirrels and dragonflies aplenty. The toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and we never had to queue for the family shower rooms once. We will return to this site again, although we did get some noise at night from the road that runs parallel to the site. Plenty of family attractions to visit and gorgeous beaches especially the one at Ryde, great for children.

I can only echo the comments below - very impressed with this site, so much so that we have booked to come back next year at the same time. We came a couple of weeks into the school holidays so there were a lot of children about including mine - but still the site was amazingly quiet.
The only noise is from the road nearby, and occasionally from the motocross circuit but that was only twice in the 10 days we were there and only for an hour or two. The site owners are lovely people and very helpful. The pitches are huge and level, the facilities modern and clean. The showers are push button and it's very hit and miss whether you get hot, tepid or cold water from them as you can't regulate the temperature yourself - but this is only a minor criticism.
I had never been to the island before and I absolutely loved it - it's like Dorset without the crowds. There's plenty to do whatever the weather. Didn't see one red squirrel though in the whole time we were there - got to go back to make sure it's not a myth!

Having visited Whitefield Forest in 2008 the year they opened to see the site, we booked to go and stay in 2009. On arrival we were delighted it was just as promised, beautifully kept, it was just like going into a wooded wonderland. The trees around the site gave it a secluded feel but not hemmed in.
We were shown to our site by Brian who as well as being friendly to new arrivals was as we found out during our stay a very nice gentleman. Pat is a lovely lady and helped us out with the bus times, nothing was to much trouble for any of this lovely family. The facilities were 1st class, lovely hot showers, clean well kept toilets, excellent. The room for the disabled was once again a joy to visit as we although not disabled, were advised to use when the main block was being cleaned.
We have booked to go again in 2010 and are having the same pitch as it was perfect. This year though we have a new little dog and we are sure he will love the walks in the wood, perhaps he will see the bunnie wunnies.
Tesco 24hr. Is just minutes away by car, very convenient and the Three Cocks pub opposite Amazon park Newchurch does a lovely meal and also welcomes dogs.

Just returned from a great weeks holiday on the IOW, this site is excellent! The best we have ever stayed on.
The pitches are huge, we have a folding caravan plus awning, my mother in law and sister in law also stayed on this site in a tent, the owners were brilliant and put our pitches next to each other so we had a very big area between us for my 2 children to play in.
The toilets and showers are excellent, very clean and you can have a hot shower no matter what time of day you choose to have one. There are also 2 family rooms which proved to be a god send for us as we have a 7 year old and 2 year old, we could all go and have a shower together.
Some people have mentioned the noise from the main road, we didn't find this a problem, I think it depends where you come from, if you live in a very quiet area then yes you would possible think it's a bit noisy.
I think virtually all the pitches had electric hook up,the wildlife here is so lovely, my kids loved spotting all the different butterflies and birds etc. The play area was good for my 7 year old son, but my 2 year old was a bit too young!
There are just 2 very small things about this site which could possibly be changed to make it even better: the signs for the one way system aren't very clear as they are so small, once you know it's ok, but when you initially arrive you could miss them. The other thing, it's being a bit picky, but the showers are these push button ones, they are quite common on camp sites so that people don't waste water, but on this site you only got 10 seconds of water per push! Which as you can imagine, with long hair it's a bit of a pain to wash and keep on pushing the button ( I did get used to it though!)
The IOW is a brilliant place to take children, my 2 loved every minute of this holiday. We are thinking of going back again next year and we would definitely stay at Whitefields again!

This is a lovely site with really large pitches that mean that you don't feel that you are too close to your neighbours. We have a very large trailer tent and had ample room for it and the car. It is a very quiet and peaceful site. It is well maintained by the owners and they come round and check the site several times during the day as well as being available in the office.
The toilet block is excellent, plenty of facilities with lots of space. Only criticism would be it could do with more washing up sinks.
It is in a woodland setting and there is a good chance of seeing red squirrels and birds.
There is a play area but it is aimed at older kids and wasn't really suitable for our toddler.
They have a few basic things in the shop but it is very close to a 24 hour large supermarket and just off the main road from Ryde. This does mean that there can be some road noise, particularly at the top of the site.
This was our second visit to the site and we would happily go back again.

I would agree with every good thing written about this site. We have just returned from an excellent family holiday (10 nights) at this site with 4 young children. The facilities are very good and always clean. The owners certainly put the hours in and are always happy to help with any queries.
The Island itself is a great place to holiday.
With the Tesco's just up the road it makes provisions very accessible whilst still at a good price - some camp site shops can price themselves out of the market.
We have left parts of the island unvisited this year so will be returning - and will return to this site.
As a balanced report I would say that the road noise is not as bad as others may have indicated - and whilst driving around the island we say a lot more sites just over the fence from a road - this site is through a dense forest!

Great site. Our first camping trip as a family and we were spoiled. The facilities were excellent. Spotlessly clean toilet block, with two large family bathrooms. There's a washer, drier and iron if they are needed.
Good sized pitches that are level and each has it's own electric hookup. Nice and quiet, there is some traffic noise, but it wasn't really a problem.
Owners were very friendly and helpful.
Lots of attractions on the Isle of Wight favourites were Colemans Farm and Flamingo Park as our little girl loved the hands on experiences with animals.

We visited for our first trip away in a caravan.
The washing / bathroom facilities are fabulous and location is lovely, amongst the trees. Pitches are large. Tesco up the road is very handy.
The downside to the site was the proximity to the road. We visited when Ryde Scooter Festival was on, and the constant drone of the scooters from the road was highly irritating ! I would also note that the kids playground wasn't really suitable for under 7s, which was a disappointment for our 2 and 3 year olds.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at Whitefield Forest and despite having absolutely hideous weather for most of our stay we had a great time, thanks in no small part to this lovely site. The owners are lovely, friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and they keep the site spotless. The amenities block is excellent, loved the family showerooms, which we used every day as our children are young. There were ample sinks for washing up, a laundry room, lots of showers (which are included in the site fees) and loos and also some sinks in cubicles too for more privacy.
The pitches are huge, our tent is a large 12 man thing and it fitted, along with toilet tent and our car with loads of room to spare so the kids could run about without having to venture anywhere near other peoples pitches. Most of the pitches are terraced up the hill, which afford even more privacy. The surrounding woods are lovely, we too caught sight of the red squirrels, but do take some bug spray, there were plenty of the little critters looking fore a bite of us! The play area in the woods is nice, though Id say its for slightly older children.
As previously mentioned there is some road noise but I wouldn't let this put me off. Having said that the proximity to 'civilisation' does mean that access to the local facilities and tesco's for instance is really handy, it being 5 mins up the road, and some nice pubs and restaurants are a short drive away.
If you're looking for a site with pools, bars, kids clubs and shops, go somewhere else. If you want a lovely peaceful, beautiful, clean and tranquil place to stay, this is the one for you.
