Our first camping holiday as a family of four and we'd certainly re-visit this site. Staff are friendly and helpful, all amenities are clean and in perfect working order. The children's playground is more than suitable, as is the location of it. Whilst the site is peaceful you do get some road noise, that said, after the first night you become accustomed to it and it would not stop us from returning.
The location of the site allows for easy access to a beautiful beach, supermaket, petrol station, restaurants etc. All in all, a very pleasant holiday.

I have a mixed review for this site.
On the positive side. The washroom facilities are superb and one of the best we have used. They were always spotlessly clean and there was always hot water available. Ditto washing up sinks.
The pitches were above average size and were well maintained. Each pitch had it's own electric unit which was a bonus.
It rained heavily one day but the site did not get muddy as it is obviously well drained.
The setting is beautiful and it was always exciting when a red squirrel appeared. The whole site is kept very clean and there were several rubbish collections each day.
However. Despite the pitches being generous the vast majority of them are tiered which is a problem if you are 2 families camping together as there is a steep incline bang in the middle. There were a few flat pitches together but they did appear to be much smaller.
The adventure playground is really only suitable for younger children. Our 13 and 10 yr old were not impressed. I also was uneasy to let them roam around the forest by themselves. Despite notices saying children should be accompanied at the washrooms and playground on many occasions we saw children on their own. Not the campsites fault I know but it was still a problem. I also felt uneasy in the evenings due to lack of security on the gate. Anybody could come in and I think on a few occasions they did.
The paths were well lit at night, but it still did not feel safe. As a seasoned Glastonbury Festival goer it surprised ME that I felt like this.
The walk to Tescos via the forest never happened as we could not find the path. Our poor geography skills never cease to amaze but it would take more than 10 mins even if we had found the right way.
The laundry room despite being very clean had only one machine and there was always a queue of bags so I never got to use it. The cost did seem reasonable though.
The facilities on the site are excellent but the whole place lacked atmosphere. There was just something missing.

Whitefield Forest Touring Park is kept very clean
Toilet block spotless, more washing up sinks are being built for end of July, no queuing, and the campsite was full.
The tent pitch with 'electric hook up' we had was slightly uneven (arched) and hard to peg down in some areas, the pitch was not on the large side, however we managed. Ice blocks can be frozen for ten pence at reception
Some road noise could be heard from the main road.
Local supermarket 1 mile down the road, public house
A few miles away.
All in all a very nice site and not far from the ferry terminal.

This was our 1st time here, as our 'usual' site in Shanklin has gone downhill - fast! I am so glad that we chose Whitefield, the site is superb, certainly one of the best sites we have ever camped on (anywhere in the UK).
We have a small Pennine folding camper. The pitches are very spacious, the toilets & showers etc are immaculate, and all the staff are brilliant, very welcoming.
There are plenty of water and rubbish points. We were a bit away from the loos, and the road was sloping, my husband is on crutches, so found it a bit irksome, but after speaking to Pat etc we were told just explain next time and we can choose a pitch nearer the loos.
We will definitely come back here. The red squirrels, woodpeckers and forest walks are charming, and as we live within hearing distance of the A316/M3 the bike boy racers didn't bother us as much as for some! In fact we used to listen for him every evening!
There are far too many good places to visit to list, but our favourites are Ventnor Botanic Gardens, the Chine and Rylstone Gardens in Shanklin, and Amazon World in Sandown.
We had some lovely food too, our favourites are the Ocean Deck in Sandown, and the Crab in Shanklin Old Village. If you're a Beatles fan, try lunch at the Octopus's Garden in Cowes, excellent! A truly lovely holiday despite some very iffy weather, we can't wait to go back.
I'm just sorry that the ferry fares are too expensive for us to afford the IOW every year. Definitely 10/10. Thanks all at Whitefield.

Just back from this site. It is a lovely site, well situated for island travel, peaceful & tranquil.
There is a super rustic play area hidden away in the woods which was right opposite our pitch allowing our 6 year old to go over and socialise alone and the squirrel hide was a great success.
The siting and frequency of water, bins, grey waste and chemical waste is inobtrusive but plentiful. As previously stated the toilet block and washing up facilities are excellent and immaculate. They even have 2 larger family shower rooms (with toilet/sink and change table) which are very unusual and made showering with little ones easy. Plenty of room inside for a family lock the door and all shower in comfort with your kids.
The woodland dog walk around the perimeter of the site is lovely and there are poo bins along the way but there is no 'off lead' excercise area on site. However there are two public footpaths just 5 mins off site.
The staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Would certainly use site again if in IOW.
Costwise, we got a deal with Red Funnel which was fantastic and I know they do over 50's and C&C deals too. Not sure how expensive it would be just book and turn up

Arrived on a damp day but met with a warm welcome. Shown to our pitch which was large and flat and then left to get on with it. We found the facilities to be great, very clean and modern but could really do with a shower curtain in the mens and ladies. Family shower rooms great for our little ones. The shop is very small but bread, milk and papers where available which I guess is all you need in the morning, plus ice pack freezing.
Our kids loved the swings in the playarea and the climbing bits.
The staff on site where always helpful and polite.
People have mentioned road noise and we where at the bottom of the site and did not find it to be obtrusive the only thing we really noticed where the large motorbikes gunning it. We thought Ryde pretty rundown but other areas like Ventor where really nice. We ate at a lovely pub in Brading that was very family friendly and did nice food called the Bugle.
Really enjoyed the Red Squirrel hide and we did see quite a few which the children thought great.
Would definitely use this site again if on the Island. Very pleased with our choice and would recommend you give them a go.

We've just had 5 nights on this site and had a great time. The site is very clean and very well looked after. The toilet block was very clean and there was always plenty of hot water whatever the time of day.
There's very little I can add to other reviews, the owners and the wardens were very welcoming and very friendly and the perimeter walk made the site nice and dog friendly with plenty of dog bins about.
If there was any drawback it would be the noise from the main road. A few nights we were there I was woken by the sound of large motorcycles (and I like bikes) and the odd 'modified' car. I know this is beyond the control of the owners but maybe worth mentioning if you're a light sleeper of have young kids.
All in all an excellent site which I would recommend to anyone.

Again, 2nd year here, weather not as good as last year, but not bad.
Red squirrels a delight to watch, owl and monkey haven good but not worth £8 per adult to get in, still in its infancy, full credit to what they are trying to achieve though.
The propeller inn, brading - fabulous food, company, well recommended as is the white lion in arreton. Barman well entertaining. Ha ha. Also good food there,
site is good as always, would like the residents to keep to the 5mph though.
Met some people from last year who come every year, so that says a lot for the site itself. Facilities as good as ever.
Will defo come back again, peaceful, and plenty to do, but also you can do nothing if that's also on the menu. 10/10

I can only echo what everyone has previously said about this site. It is just wonderful. We booked for 5 days but extended our stay an extra two days as it was so nice and plenty to do on the Island.
The pitches are all different but are huge and all have EHU. Some get the sun in the morning and some in the evening so if you have a preference then best to ask in advance.
The toilet block was spotless as were the washing up points. They have put in an additional 3 sinks during our stay.
As mentioned, there is plenty to do on the island and we spent every day away exploring or visiting the various parks/visitor attractions.
We had such a great time we have booked to return next June and cant wait.

We spent a week at this site over the May half-term. The site was almost completely full but did not feel crowded in any way as the pitches are very spacious. It's my kind of site because it's very attractive and interesting rather than just a plain field full of tents and caravans. We asked to be near the toilet block which we were.
Not a lot to add to other reviews. We were very impressed and would happily return.
We had lovely meals: at The Fighting Cocks, Arreton - great food and atmosphere plus a great spacious playground for kids; and at The Crab & Lobster in Bembridge - sitting on the patio looking out to sea.
