Spent two nights at South Meadows, Belford over the May Day Bank Holiday. We managed to get EHU and were in the main field. Was very busy but they still had plenty of space for any campers whom turned up without booking and didn't want EHU.
South Meadows Boasts 5 Star facilities and they sure live up to that hype. The Toilets and Shower Block are spotless regardless of what time of day you use them. The OH claimed the womens toilets were perfect and to my surprise the Mens Toilets are of the same high standards.
It seems that the Site is managed by a fellow called George, and hats off to him he puts in some hours making sure everybody on the site has a stress free break. They turn the Electric Generator off at 11:30pm but when we arrived George made it clear if we had small children that required Electric throughout the night (Probably for heating) then he would happily hook us up to one of the Site's main buildings. All in all service was superb.
You do pay for what you get with South Meadows as its a little on the pricey side (Although not as high as many other sites) but its certainly a very well looked after site that's situated perfectly for some wonderful sight seeing in the area of Northumberland.
Our only disappointments was the lack of an on site shop (Although Belford in only a walk away) and even though a Park for the children is advertised we never actually saw it. So its likely to be a fair walk from the tent field.

Having visited this site on numerous occasions in the past, we (my wife, myself and our 8 year old son) opted to go here over the bank holiday to give our new Outwell Idaho L it’s first outing.
The improvements made since our last visit (extra hook up points, extra water point and family shower rooms) really make this a first class site, and definitely one of our favourites.
Upon arrival we were given a choice of pitch serviced with EHU. Although the site was busy it wasn’t overcrowded, with 4 showers in each of the male and female blocks, which are exceptionally clean, free and hot (probably the best we’ve seen) complemented by the family rooms meant we never had to wait. 3 private wash cubicles are also available in the female toilets, I am told :-)
Whilst there is no shop or pub on site Belford village is only a short walk away (1/4 Mile) with a Co-op for the essentials and a fish & chip shop for those who do not feel like cooking after putting up the tent – be prepared the food is cooked to order.
As mentioned in a previous review, the new electricity points were switched off between 11:30pm and 6:30am. This was due to the noise from the temporary generator; George (the owner) confirmed that a permanent connection was to be made by the Electricity Board week commencing 4th May so this wouldn’t be an issue in the future.
George is constantly patrolling to ensure everything is just as you require it and can’t do enough for you. This has to be one of the best sites in the North East of England, and in a perfect location to enjoy the attractions of Northumberland – Bamburgh, Seahouses, Holy Island and Berwick to mention a few.
The only downside was the cold nights, we put this down to the time of the year and the size of the tent – unable to heat it with our small heater, and having to pack up in the wind – the tent and footprint quickly transformed into kites, we were grateful to a fellow camper who helped us get everything back on the ground.
Looking forward to going back at the end of the month!

Really pleased with site although where we pitched (electric hookup) wasn't to close to toilets. Other than that we had a excellent 3 nights , with my sisters family conditions of field were excellent . Toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained. Childrens park was more for smaller children but it was only a short walk into the village where there was a larger park. We will be booking up again.

We had a lovely weekend here is September and the weather was very kind to us.
This campsite is lovely, the toilet and shower facilities are excellent and the family rooms are great when you have little ones with you.
There is only a small park on site but our kids enjoyed playing in the woods instead.
It is just a short walk into Belford where you can get everything you need from the Coop and the fish and chip shop is great. There is also a nice park there if you want to take your kids somewhere to play.
Will definitely return to this site.

A very nice clean site, George the owner (I think) was very helpful and coundn't do enough for us. Toilets are very clean and tidy, has family shower rooms. A little expensive at £20 per night, but we would go back, very nice and friendly golf course in walking distance with club house on, all welcome (nice food) Children's play park next to golf club also nice. No play park on site, little disappointed with that.
All in all a very nice site.

Stayed here over Easter Weekend. Staff very friendly, grounds are well maintained and toilet block, showers etc immaculate. We had EHU which runs off a generator which switches off at 11:30pm each night. This did not cause us any problems though. There is a large playing field for ball games etc just next to the tent area. No playpark near tents but there is one at the far end of the park next to the caravans although this was too far away for our kids(7 and 6) to go to unaccompanied.
Site is only few minutes from A1. Plenty to do in the area as about mid way between Berwick and Alnwick and only 10 min drive from Bamburgh Castle and fantastic beach. Five minute drive into Belford for small Co-op, pubs and chip shop.

Stayed here for two nights in early April. The site is close to the A1 and occupies a couple of well cared-for fields immediately south of Belford. A £10 deposit is needed for a fob to operate a secure gate which controls entry to the park. We were given a slabbed hard standing on a lawn occupied by several other caravans, with hook up and a fresh water tank.
Facilities are excellent and in immaculate condition - bathrooms and toilets are spotless, spacious and plentiful. The grounds are beautifully tended and safe for children.
Belford offers several amenities - Co-op, The Bluebell Inn, a couple of other pubs, a couple of shops and a golf club. The golf club is available to non-members for food, which was tasty and served in generous portions at a very reasonable price. A warm welcome too - highly recommended.
There's lots to explore in the vicinity, including Seahouses (try the Olde Ship Inn for a drink, but not for food!), Bamburgh and its castle, The Holy Isle (reached by a tidal causeway) and various walks and cycle routes.
Would happily return to this site.

We chose this site because it was ideally located to see all the sites in area. From that point of view it is excellent. The toilet / shower facilities were also very good. Looking around the site, the areas for caravans also seemed very nice. That's where the problem lies. I think this site is more suited to caravans. Basically, tents are put on a large open field with no trees to break it up and only one water tap. The good old british weather played havoc with the field - leaving it very muddy. Directly opposite the field is an industrial business - I think producing some kind of road surfacing product which is noisy from very early in the morning until about 5pm. Fine if you have the sound proofing of a caravan and are based at the back of the site - not when in a tent at the front of the site! The site served its purpose in terms of proximity to the attractions in the area but I would not return there.

Well maintained site with excellent pitches and shower block. Could only find one water point for all the tents / tourers. Disappointed that the site does not offer any camping accessories to purchase and wanted to charge silly price for gaz refill. I bought from the very friendly site in Belford next to the coop and paid half the price.
Beautiful area to visit with masses to do in either wet or dry weather.

Excellent campsite! Location great, showers and toilet block immaculate and frequently cleaned. Site had well maintained grass (better than our lawn at home!) and beautiful planted areas. Staff friendly, helpful and polite. We will certainly return.
