Great site with plenty of room even at this peak time - if you like camping without people on top of you then this site is for you (especially if you don't need a hook up). Very friendly and helpful owner. OK it's a bit more expensive than other sites in the area, but you tend to get what you pay for. Excellent facilities (the cleanest I've experienced) with plenty of (free) hot water. Never had to wait. There's even a library! Separate laundry room with hand wash ands pay washer/dryer. If I was looking for some downsides (and this is really looking) the play area is slightly limited and there is some slight traffic noise from the A1 when it's very quiet. Neither was even a slight issue for us. Kids have more fun playing with their new found friends in the open spaces anyway. Belford is a few hundred yards down the road and has everything you need - including 2 local supermarkets, 2 pubs and a fish and chip shop. Lots to do in the area (Bamborough, Craster, Lindisfarne, Alnwick.) and a short hop via the handy A1. Overall 9/10. Oh yes, the site drains pretty well (had the wettest pack up in history).

We returned for a 2nd time - this time just ourselves - site just as good if not better, site owner had installed some extra showers at the back on the toilet block, in portacabins for the summer. There was 2 showers in each which made it ideal for a family to get washed together. The previous review said site fees were on the high side but they are in line with anywhere else we have stayed. My only complaint about this site is that it has spoiled us, and we compare every other site to it - and they can't match up! Going again soon.

This was our first stay here but it certainly won't be our last. Originally we were only going have a couple of days away but ended up booking an extra night . It was so NICE! The toilet block is very modern and gleamingly clean . ALL THE TIME! Lots of free hot water at any time of the day. They also had and 3 "family bathrooms" around the back of the shower block, which were extra portocabins but also kept immaculately clean and each consisted of two separate showers, so Mum & Dad can wash all the kids in one go. The camping field was really level and kept in lovely condition with the grass being mowed regularly. You could pitch anywhere in this huge field, which meant lots of space in between tents allowing more than enough room for family badmington and the like. Best of all, everyone stuck to the "no noise" after 11pm, in fact everyone was quiet by 10pm . Which is great when you have young ones and you want a good nights sleep. The site is a really short drive from all of the local tourist attractions, including Lindisfarne, Bambrough, and the seaside town of Seahouses. There's a Co-op just minutes aways from the site which is open until 10pm, so very convenient for supplies. Would definitely recommend this site for anyone wanting a quiet site with spotless facilities.

I would recommend this site to everyone. We did not book and were driving around the area looking for a site. I let the boys pick the site and they opted for this because of the big open space for playing. It really is a five star site. Toilets were always clean and plenty of hot water.Staff on the site were all very friendly and helpful. We like the idea of pitching where you want and found them all level.Hoping to return next week if the weather is good.

Have just returned from 2 nights here - our first time camping. The site staff were really friendly, the pitch was great (a huge field, so we pitched right away from everyone else so our 16 month old wouldn't annoy everyone!), and the toilets / showers were clean and there was plenty of hot water. The family showers around the back of the main block are a great idea. We didn't see the play area, so I guess that was a minor negative point as it is obviously towards the rear of the site. Overall though, we are very happy with our choice of site.

Just had a fab weekend at this top site. The showers, WC and laundry facilities are all immaculate and the owner couldn't be more helpful. The field was enormous with plenty of room for the children to run around safely and not bother any of the other guests. There's loads to see and do around the locality like Bamburgh and Seahouses as well as some decent watering holes in Belford itself. Great idea for security as well. You have to supply all of children's names in your party and your mobile no. Just in case anyone gets lost. Just another great touch to a great site.

As previous reviewers have said, this site really is well kept and managed. The reception was friendly and helpful. All facilities immaculate and well managed - any shortfalls will be down to campers not the staff! We do think that tent users get a bit of a raw deal however, £18 per night seeming a bit steep to pitch in a field with few facilities. All the amenities are in the well coiffured caravan area and although electric is available alongside the fence, it is a long stretch to most tents, leaving hazardous cables lying about. I could find only one water point (next to the bins) in the enormous field. It is also close enough to the A1 (400 metres) to give a constant low drone of traffic. They suggest that families camp one side of the field and 'quieter' folk the other, this seems very reasonable to me and it meant that we felt able to let our 8 year old off the leash a bit. Although ball games are banned, no one seemed to object to the odd kick about - it is too far to the play area! By 10:30 ish the site was quiet (apart from the A1). Belford has a range of amenities. We ate at the Black Swan and could only say that it was OK, good value though. The site is well located for Lindesfarne, Bamburgh and the North Northumberland coast. We would certainly return but only for the odd day at this price. However, it has to be said that the facilities are the best that we have encountered.

Stayed here for 1 night. Very nice site, nice and clean. Good location for Belford, Seahouses and Bamburgh. T.v. reception is very good for digital free view. This site would probably be a favourite site of ours but fees are a little expensive. Not much for kids to do. We would recommend this site if you don't mind paying 'slightly higher than average' pitch fees.

We also visited this site with a group of friends -approx 7 families in total - too many 4 and 2 year olds to keep track of! We had huge field all to ourselves - the owner had directed other campers to the other side of the road away from us - we kept all the tents towards the hedge and had open view over the field to watch the kids running around. We also had the benefit of the sun warming the tents nicely before you got up in the morning as we were facing east.
The toilets/shower blocks were immaculate, as was the laundry room. The owners couldn't be more helpful, and their homemade cakes in the cafe were fab, as were the bacon sarnies. The site has its own playpark and bluebell wood, with easy path to follow round, we enjoyed a treasure trail, collecting all sorts of leaves, flowers, snails etc!We visited Holy Island and Bamburgh from here - would highly recommend and hope to return this summer.

We chose this campsite on the strength of the previous review. The campsite is immaculate and the people in the pubs are very friendly. If you stay here you just have to go to the local chip shop we were serenaded while we waited. If you go for a drive venture along the coast road, you can drive over to Lindisfarne and further along see Bamburgh castle, there seemed to be a castle around every corner. Seahouses is a bit like the quintessential seaside resort but on a small scale. Altogether a fantastic area to visit even my husband wants to go back!
