Our third visit this year to this site as we store our van here.

Lovely peaceful site.

New super pitches are fantastic with permanent water and waste.

Fantastic new kids playground with swings and climbing frames/ slides for older and younger kids, a zip wire. Brilliant cant wait until our lo is old enough to enjoy them.

Shower facilities great. Family rooms have two large shower cubicles and are really well heated with plenty of space and a baby changing table.

Dog walk good. Beautiful woodland but a bit small for a really good walk.

Lovely farm shop next door. Amazing home made scotch eggs and pies mmmmmm.

Great location and only 15 minutes to either Alnwick which has a sainsburys and morrisons or Berwick with a tesco and asda.

Counting down the days until our return.

We stayed here in March on an Electric Tent pitch.

We were the only tent on the site at this time of year, (unsurprisingly) and so we had the place to ourselves.

The toilets/showers were clean, warm and plentiful.

I don't know how they manage during the height of the season but at the time we were there we had the pick of all of them. The showers we warm, but if I had to pick fault, they were the push button/valve ones that require you to press it every 20 seconds or so to keep a steady supply of water going.

For supplies there's a small CO-OP in the village and an excellent farm-shop right next door.

The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Just spent 2 nights camping with ehu at this lovely site, 2 adults and 2 kids and the dog goes free!. Reading the last few reviews we were slightly worried but found the people to be quite pleasant.

We shared a whole field with 1 other tent so the space was fantastic. The field was well kept, flat and well drained.

The noise from the road was minimal, depends what your after but didn't bother us as it was a lot of farm wagons, just what you would expect in that area.

The washing facilities and showers were the best I have seen so far. Did not use the laundry room. Plenty of showers, toilets, wash rooms and 3 family rooms, no one could complain about that, all very clean. Toilet roll, soap and washing up liquid aplenty.

The site is perfect for getting about, Holy island about 11 miles out, Banbrough 5 miles away.

Would benefit from a play area for the kids. All in all it was well worth a visit, I know the price is a bit higher than normal but the site was really great.

Arrived for a break in July and found reception staff to be not as welcoming as mentioned by others. The guy on the quad was ok though, and helped us to site the caravan. Didn't receive any information from reception either - no site maps, contact numbers in case of problems, weren't told about waste disposal points and no info offered on the surrounding area.

Although we had a hard standing pitch, the grass surrounding it was like a marshland. Could do with a path from the main roads to the pitch. The outer part of the site is like a building site and not yet complete. We found the toilet and shower blocks to be clean and tidy, but lacking in a bit of privacy as there is no barrier between the male and female areas.

We couldn't even access the dog walking area as it was knee deep in mud and barriered off, so we had to make do with the open field where the building work is being done.

As I said, the main part of the park is nice, clean and tidy - just a shame if you end up on the outskirts in the extended area.

Not much at all in Belford apart from a chip shop, a couple of pubs, a golf course and a co-op open 'till 10pm.

All in all the site is ok, but I'd say very expensive for what you get and what is around.

Camped at the South Meadows Caravan Park on one of the wettest weekends we could have picked.

The caravan / camp-site was almost deserted, just one other caravan there. There were people in the permanent caravans in the secure area of the site. But overall a very quiet stay.

On arrival we had a friendly greeting and advised the best place to camp with the ground conditions. We were also visited while unpacking to check we were ok.

The site itself has good facilities, clean washrooms and washing up facilities for our stay.

Campsite is just next to a really nice farm shop, with some amazing produce and butchers and cafe for breakfast if you wish. The site is also a real good base for exploring the north east of England.

Despite the weather, which allowed us to have the place to ourselves, we had a nice stay.

Nights stayed: 4 Travelling as:  Family with older children

Stayed on pitch number 8 (directly under a large old oak tree which loved to cover our tent in debris and bird droppings!)

*2 Adults, 2 children (aged 12&9) + 1 dog, Hi Gear Khalahari 8 tent plus porch.

*SITE LOCATION: Northumberland is a beautiful part of the country. Belford is located literally just off the A1, about 5 miles inland from the beautiful Bamburgh, within easy reach of Holy Island, Berwick Upon Tweed, Alnwick, Farne Islands, Seahouses etc. The camping fields are the farthest away from the facilities and you can see and hear the traffic from the A1.

*SITE FACILITES: Toilets x 6, sink cubicals x 3, showers x 4 plus disabled bathroom, really good family bathrooms x 3 which included x 2 showers, sink & toilet in each. Main showers push buttons (lasting about 30 seconds) and spray around you rather than over you (proving interesting to wash hair etc!). All drainage from each shower is one long trough so found yourself 'sharing' other people's dirty water. Mop & bucket there to use & bathrooms were cleaned once a day whilst we were there (usually around lunch time which meant if you showered on a morning they weren't as clean as if you showered in the afternoon). No portacabins as mentioned in other reviews.

*VALUE FOR MONEY: VERY overpriced. Most expensive site we have stayed at but ironically the only site we have stayed at that would not return to. We were charged £35. 50/night here and have stayed at much nicer sites for less than half the cost.

*CUSTOMER SERVICE: On arrival, we went to reception to pay and was greeted by an abrupt man, who without a 'hello' told me to get out as they were closing and I was going to set the alarm off. Soon enough on our second morning, another man arrived on his quad bike asking me to report to reception to pay. Did not see any wardens at all on an evening so there were no 'no noise after. Pm' policy which we found difficult when trying to get our heads down after days out.

*CHILD FRIENDLINESS: There is ample of room for kids to play, have fun, kick a ball round, ride a bike etc. There is also a playpark but unfortunately is missing swings - just the frame is there!

* Nice dog walk through small woods on site

* No shop on site - Belford within walking distance has a fully stocked Co-op though

* The site itself seemed to have an unfriendly feel to the place and not the usual friendly smiles and chats you normally find at campsites

* The site appeared to be full of regulars who didn't seem to appreciate non permanent visitors

* Check in from 2pm/departure 11. 30am

* Pegs went in like a dream!

* After a night of rain, the tent field did get boggy in some areas

*OVERALL: We will be returning to Northumberland in future, but to a different site next time

Just spent six nights at this site, as it was the only one I could get booked on ( no EHU available though), as it was bank holiday weekend.

For me the site has some pluses. I found the showers and toilets amongst the best I’ve used. I’d seen comments re the portaloos so was bit wary, however what I found was a brick built building with some facilities in (only used them once but the were clean and looked fine to me) and small group of portacabin buildings with showers, toilets and washing up facilities.

I found the showers to be great, separate cubicles that weren’t massive but are ok and electric showers that you can control the temperature. I never once had to queue and found them to be nice and hot and always spotless.

Same for the toilets in the portacabins. Washing up gain never had to queue though water pressure wasn’t great. Plus side to them also was that they were free so you can spend as long as you like in the shower.

The site

There are some comments that the facilities are a bit far from where you may pitch which is true if you've no ability to walk! They are no more than a minutes walk.

The site itself was nice and level, we had lot of rain so thee was a little standing water but nothing to worry too much about.

Pitch size was good with plenty of room for ball games etc (we were on the first camping field on the right as you enter). Given the site was supposed to be busy I’d anticipated tents on top of each other but no need to worry.

I found the owner more than helpful and he does actually go round in the evening to check all is ok, however he did like to do that on his quad so you’ll hear him coming!

Local facilities are ok, there is a farm type shop nearby that’s pricey but a decent co-op in the village which is 20 mins walk. Took a drive over to Wooler one day and popped into the chip shop there, the fish was the biggest I’ve seen in years and to be recommended, though they did try and charge us for ketchup which was bit of cheek given we’d paid to sit in the café!

Down side for me was that the views were a little spoiled by the place directly opposite which operates a few cement mixer wagons that start work early, I soon forgot about them though.

Would I go again? Yes for sure.

Have stayed at South Meadows before in a tent but this was the first time in our campervan.

South Meadows staff are always extremely helpful and friendly.

Shower and toilet block are always clean and tidy. Separate wash basin cubicles are handy and showers are warm and spacious. Family showers are great if you have small children.

Handy information on notice boards in shower block and good wash room facilities.

Numerous electric hook ups and if you are in a tent plenty of flat grassed areas.

Belford is a short walk away where there is a Co-op and the Blue Bell for a drink or bar meal.

Recommend site for caravans, campers and tents - very family friendly.

My first visit to South Meadows, I have been up to view the site before.

It’s location ids great if you want to visit Farne islands, holy island, & border areas.

The site is set out great, lovely flat mowed pitches, very clean, there is plenty of areas to play ball games etc, The Reception is top class & showers are the best I have used in 42 years of camping. Owner very helpful & Friendly, also took to my Pitch By Lad on Quad bike, who also helped people in caravans locate there caravan with the quad bike.

My only problem with the site is the location of the bins & the location of the water point as would have been nice to have some closer to or pitch but hey these are little things.

The Town of Belford is a 5 minutes walk away with Co –op & also the Blue Bell Hotel with great meals,

Very Nice clean site looking forward to visiting again in next few weeks

Excellent site - handy for all the coastal attractions from Alnwick up to Berwick.

Good pubs and a chippy in Belford for food.

Very friendly and helpful staff

Loos & showers etc always very clean and never had to queue even when site was full over a bank holiday.

Before we went were a bit worried about noise from A1 close by but not a problem at all. Some noise one night from a nearby grain silo because it was harvest time & the farmers were working late to get the harvest in but not too bad

Very firm no noise after 11 policy - even a number to ring if there's a problem ( n b they'd obviously responded to an earlier reviewer's comment about the use of quad bikes late evening noise - they now walk around each night) - also now have a welcome ban on big groups.

Highly recommended
