Site for pitching - flat, grass well maintained, litter free, not all hook up lights worked
Location - perfect for visiting the northumberland coastline and rural Northumberland. Warden ensures weather forecast and crossing times are posted up for Holy Island. Plenty of information in reception
Facilities - no shop but one (very expensive farm shop) close by. Laundrette (£4. 50 for a normal size washer load) has a drinks and chocolate machine. Reception sells some basic equipment and has a coffee machine (40p a cup) Park isn't maintained at all and is without swings (just a frame) which is a shame as it has potential & meant children were pulling the woodland apart to swing on. Dog walk through the woodland is nice apart from loads of children hurling through on bikes, carts etc and gets very very muddy
Toilets etc - what is there is great but far too far away from the tent field. Main block showers could do with a real scrub and where pipes are loose repairing. Family shower rooms are an excellent idea for those with youngsters. Adequate disabled bathroom facility. Proof of the need for another toilet block was several children wetting themselves before they got there and men/boys relieving themselves against bushes or bins, behind cars etc. Also families clearing plates into bushes and emptying dirty water into bushes to save the walk to the pot wash. Easily solved by a closer toilet block.
Noise - if you don't like early starts woken by the quads moving touring caravans around this isn't the site for you. Everything is done by wardens on a quad or in a van rather than on foot so late at night telling folks to be quiet who are quieter than the quad then early AM. Prefer more peaceful myself
Staff - helpful and pleasant to us but heard a lady being rather abrupt to a camper about facilities not being clean, sanitary items left, not the sites fault but no need to be rude to her for reporting it
Pricing - quite frankly for a family pretty steep considering there is nothing on site. Around the £35 a night mark I'd have expected a lot more. Pricing structure is more couple friendly (charge per person, plus electric, plus awnings etc) if the price reflected the site we would visit again

We have just returned from a weekend at South Meadows (myself, husband and 2 children aged 6 and 2). The site itself is lovely, very eco friendly, plenty of showers which were always clean but not always warm unfortunately. They have 5 big family showers which is great, lots of washing up sinks and a laundry room.
There is no shop on site but there is a shop just next door with a cafe attatched and a little park and a fenced off area with a few sheep and what I think were alpaca's.
The site was very well maintained except for the little park which could do with updating.
We checked in and were shown where to pitch but we weren't given any information on the site ie where water taps were or the park but when I asked I was given a map which was great.
The downsides to the site were that we were packed in when there was no need to be, our ropes were in next to the next tents and groups which arrived together tended to pitch their tents in large circles rather than in lines so with cars all over the place you felt crammed in. Also with allowing large groups in meant that there was ALOT of noise. Granted the wardens came round at 11.30 ish to tell them to be quiet not all people took notice and on our second night we could still here people well after midnight.
All in all this is a lovely site and the onwer and staff always helpful, but we wont be returning as it was too noisy for us.

Just returned from the park, on arrival the park was well kept, grass was well treated. Shower block was nice and clean with plenty of hot water, just a bit of a hike from our pitch. Dog walk was through the woods, the village was about 15minutes to walk there was a few pubs that served food, and a small co op shop to get your forgotten things. On the whole had a nice quiet weekend and would return to the park again in the future.

Have just returned from 1 night at South Meadows. The site is very well looked after. Large, flat tent field, which was nicely mown with plenty of room for children to play.
The toilets/showers were very clean and we found the separate family shower area useful. Mops/buckets were available and there were signs encouraging people to clean up after themselves.
The toilet block is central to the site which does mean a bit of a walk from the tent field. There were portaloos nearer, but didn't use these so unable to comment on cleanliness. Although there were a lot of caravans on site when we visited there weren't many tents.
At the time of our visit the amount of showers/toilets available was more than adequate, but not sure if this would be the case when site was busy.
There is no shop on site but the Co-op in Belford is approx 1 mile away and open 7am-10pm. There is also a farm shop next door which serves hot food. We did have breakfast there but found it quite expensive (£3.95 for a bacon sandwich, £6.95 for full english breakfast).
The site is in a perfect location for exploring the Northumbrian coast. Very close to the A1 (although could hear slightly at night wasn't in any way intrusive) and approx 10 minutes drive to Bamburgh and Seahouses.
Enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again.

Just spent three nights on our first visit to this park. Very friendly and helpful staff - they even tow your van onto your pitch and level it for you!
Huge open fields for grass pitches, plenty of room for games etc.
Good, clean central toilet and shower block, was the only one, but backed up by single portaloos in the fields (hopefully not a permanent feature?).
Parks staff quad bikes running up and down up to 11pm at night became a bit annoying - electric carts as on other sites we've used would be a good investment and much quieter.
The park is obviously developing and what they have done so far is very good indeed, so will be good to see what else is planned.
The area itself is lovely, especially Seahouses and Bamburgh. Can also recommend the Castle Hotel in Bamburgh as from a previous review. Also from a previous review 'the chip shop in Seahouses is worth a visit' - there are 4, so we hadn't a clue which was the 'good one'. We used the Pinnacle and they were the best fish and chips we've had in a long time!
Last tip - park is just off the A1, but not signposted - we were looking for a sign and drove right past (a sign would be good?). It is actually in Belford itself, so turn off opposite the Belford Industrial Estate ( a grain store, not as bad as it sounds!) and it's a few metres up the road, next to a lovely farm shop.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Only booked this site as Warren Mill, Bamburgh, said they were fully booked for a Fri/Sat night stay but delighted that they were booked, as this is a far better site and one that will be recommended and used again. There is lots of room to pitch tents and with space to breath. The location is great too, as half-mile off of the A1. The staff were fantastic and very friendly and helpful.
The facilities are located in one block, which also houses the reception. The facilities are the cleanest and best I've seen over the last few years and can see why the site is rated 5star.
The only drawback is that the site is crying out for another amenities block in the centre of the touring fields, as it could take easily 15mins to walk to/from the main block if you are pitched at the bottom end of the fields.
We were lucky and nearer the top end but still looking at 5-10mins. Its a shame as there is plenty of room to build a second block and then this site would be amazing. All the same I will book there again.

This is a fantastic site and we'd definitely go back there.
The toilets and showers are kept clean and the family shower rooms were fantastic with 2 young children. There are also showers with baby change, which were great for cleaning the wee ones after a trip to the beach.
We pitched in the large field (no hook-ups) and even although there were quite a lot of other tents, the children could run about and we could keep and eye on them.
There's so much to do in the surrounding area, we spent 2 days at Alnwick Castle, which the children loved and there's lots of pubs which do great food and are child friendly.

This was my first experience of camping. South Meadows was the perfect site as an introduction to camping. The site wasn't overly busy so there was plenty of space.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is plenty of showering areas and include large family shower rooms. The other facilities are excellent. The site is very easy to find being just off the A1 but not too close to be audible during the night.
The village is a short walk were there is a co-op and a pub. Great site and hope to visit again.

Just back from this site, which we chose because of the reviews on here. Showers and toilets spotless, good dish washing facilities and good sized pitch. Lovely walk through Bluebell woods, small play area for younger children. Lovely owner and staff.
All quiet on site from about 10.30 pm. Considering how near the A1 the site is the road noise did not bother us. Farm shop and bistro just yards from the entrance (didn't go in so can't comment). The village itself is just a 10-15 min walk away with a well stocked Co-Op.
All in all a lovely site well worth the money. Would definitely visit again, if only we lived closer.

Great campsite, the toilets and showers very clean, really nice farm shop and play area next door, site is well drained and even thought it rained no issues with mud or waterlogging.
We were camping in the field at the back of the site, with portaloos near us, which were always clean and tidy.
Very happy would recommend to anyone. We visited alnwick castle which the kids loved, and spent plenty of time on the beach at Bamburgh around the rain.
Great indian takeaway in Belford hidden at the back of a pub.
