We have just visited this site after reading the excellent reviews on here. We found the site to be extremely clean and spacious. If you have small children this site is perfect as its safe and has large areas of grass ideal for young children to play safely and within view. We felt the park could be improved however just 5 minutes walk from the site there is a lovely park just right for young children.
The toilets etc where fantastic and very clean. The family shower rooms were great and very useful although at times you had to wait for one to become available. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and someone was always on hand if you needed anything.
The surrounding area is lovely with the beach just a ten minute drive away. We found a lovely pub called the Castle which served lovely meals at a very reasonable price (Bambra). There is a well stocked co op in belford itself and a chip shop.
Overall we have a very pleasant experience and have already booked another week there. For any campers with young children or children who can entertain themselves this site is perfect and well worth a try.

Brilliant, Lovely and we will be back!
Excellent campsite, one of the best I have been to. The toilets and showers are immaculate and there are lots of them, they provide mops to clean up after you and have lots of hot water.
Family shower rooms are a bonus and are equally as clean.
The grass to pitch up is like a bowling green its so clean and short. The park is good for kids and the walk into bluebell woods is lovely.
Owners are lovely, very helpful and go out of their way to make your stay perfect,
We walked into Belford which is a short walk, there is a good children's park and the Bluebell Hotel has a lovely beer garden which is like a secret garden for kids.
I would definitely recommend!

Second visit, this time with my parents who stayed in a caravan. No problem getting a pitch next to each other, even though only the caravan wanted an electric hook up.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff - set up the caravan as standard - toilets and showers superb, loads of space for us all to play games in. Kids didn't use the play area, they didn't need to with all the space near the tent. No shop, but co-op in the village and farm shop opening next door shortly. Can't say I'd recommend the local pubs for food and the chippy in the village was disappointing - worth the extra trip to Seahouses for excellent fish and chips!
Only down side was the washing facilities. Expensive: £3.50 for the world longest washing machine cycle (over 2 hours for a standard wash!) and then another £3.50 for an hour in the drier.
Well worth the money, great location, will doubtless be back.

This is an excellent camp site. The cleanest toilets and showers I have ever seen. The staff could not be more helpful - as we were cycle touring they even gave me a cup of milk so that I could recover with a cup of tea before I walked to the shop.
I cannot recommend this camp site enough. Absolutely wonderful!
Worth every penny of the slightly higher cost.

What a gem of a site this place is. We called in for an over night stop after visiting holy island.
We arrived on site after the reception was closed but two telephone numbers on the door brought an immediate response from the site owner on a quad bike. Who arrived to book us in, show us around the facilities and take up to our pitch for the night.
Nothing was any trouble for him. What a gentleman he was. After setting up we settled down with a beer and a glass of wine and the site was just brilliant.
We have driven up the main road past Haggerston and the Seahouses turn off many a time but never imagined such a great site as this was just off the main drag. The toilets where spotless, the showers a dream and the shop well stocked with campy /caravanny things.
Will definitely be back on this site. WITHOUT A DOUBT
Thank you for an excellent nights stop over

Had a lovely weekend away at South Meadows. The staff were friendly and helpful. We camped on the rear field(without hook up) and it was almost empty, probably only 8 other tents and it's a huge field so the children had lots of space to ride bikes/fly kites/play cricket. We were about a five minute walk away from the toilet blocks/washing area although there were 3 portaloos on our field. The toilets were kept very clean but I don't think the portaloo's were cleaned while we stopped there, it wasn't really a problem as there wasn't many campers using them.
There is a small wood for the children to explore and it really was a big adventure for them. There is a small play area but I'd say if your kids are older than 5 or 6 then they'll be bored after 10mins, bit of a shame really. There is quite a nice play area within walking distance of the site (left out of the site, bear left at end of road and the park is approx 200yards on your left)
The site is very well situated for exploring the coast and castles, Holy Island, Alnwick and Bamburgh are all short easy drives away.
Overall highly recommended and worth visiting, the site is amongst one of the most expensive I've stopped at(£25 two adults 2 kids per night) but I don't mind paying a premium when the facilities are maintained to a high standard and the site in good order. South Meadows is both of these.

We stayed 2 nights at this site on a bank holiday weekend, with our daughter and family who had stayed before and had recommended it to us.
Site is very good and very flat which is great when putting up a tent, we had EHU but there was still plenty of room, they seem to have 2 very large fields without EHU and still plenty of room to play football, which is ideal for children.
Toilet block was the cleanest I have been to,and showers were also tip top, staff were very friendly and helpful, site is spotless, the only downside would be to have another toilet block as they have 3 very large fields for campers and caravans.

This is a very, very good site.
The owners and employees could not be more helpful. There were 19 of us in our party, with four tents, and we were dealt with swiftly and with a smile, even on this busy bank holiday weekend. An extra EHU was supplied without any problems.
The toilets/showers were very well maintained, and there was never a wait to use them.
Bluebell Wood, which is part of the site, was a massive plus for the kids we had with us (nine children, all under eight years old.). They could have stayed there all day every day!
Belford village is a very short walk from the site, and has a lovely little play park for the kids. We never used the shops or the pubs, so I cannot review them.
One tiny criticism of the site would be the lack of a shop. They did have vending machines, but the stock was limited. We did speak to the owners about this, and he said he didn't want to take custom away from shops the village, which I suppose is admirable.
In summary, all 19 people in our party were very, very happy with this site.

Just back from our 2nd stay at this lovely family friendly campsite with our young family and friends. Great location 10 minutes drive to the coast, 20 minutes from Berwick – upon- Tweed and 5 minutes walk to Belford village.
Site facilities spotlessly clean especially the handy family wash rooms. Nice site layout with lots of space for the kids to play games, nice small kids play park and woodland walks.
Perfect location to explore both the breathtaking Northumberland coastline and Northumberland National Park.

This campsite is handily positioned just off the A1 and was very easy to find. We got there just before 7pm and there was no one in the reception at that time, but we rang the mobile number posted on the door and were told to choose a spot, which we did.
The facilities at the campsite are excellent - clean and comfortable washrooms, toilets, showers etc. A big plus is the location close to the large village of Belford, which has pubs, a small supermarket and various other shops - we enjoyed the walk into the village in the evening.
The major downside of the site is the cost - £23 for the night (including hookup) is definitely expensive - £5 more than we paid anywhere else over the week we were away. This would be enough to stop us going back given the choice in the area.
