We are picky about our sites and generally prefer adult only but couldn't find one near enough to our friends in the area. This site isn't cheap and is family orientated but you do get what you pay for.
We had a fully serviced pitch and when the grey waste drain appeared to be blocked on arrival, it was cleared by staff before we had finished setting up. An immaculate site and attentive staff who even did a security drive-around in the evenings. Clean and spacious toilet/shower facilities with everything you might need although a good walk from our pitch.
The site where our pitch was looked quite new with lots of young trees and hedges, so it will be even nicer when it has matured a bit, but even so, the views were lovely.
Other positives - they will site and level your van if you need it but the slabs are level anyway. Pitches are positioned to make the most of the weather/views.
Negatives? Wifi was iffey - some days nothing at all! The dog walk was not as popular as the grassy area near to our caravan where people chose to allow their pets to do what comes naturally - not always picking up and not always with dogs on a lead. A site plan and guide would have been nice but maybe I'm being too picky - none of the above would put me off visiting the site again.

My family and I ended up at South Meadows, as another nearby camp-site was woefully over-booked, and had almost no space despite a pre-booking chat.
Anyway. What can we say about this site.
The pitch we were provided was clean, tidy and well kept, tucked into a 'corner' of one of the beech hedge dividers which was great. We overlooked a large open field, which allowed enough space for the two little ones to run riot, far enough away from other tents to not cause any issues, so it was ideal.
The toilet blocks were clean, large, and also offered 'family' showers with enough room for 4 people, and were all clean and well kept. Shocked to see that they would be refurbishing them later in 2014, as they were almost immaculate. In fact, the only complaint was that they switched off too fast!
The staff were pleasant, and helpful wherever possible, they could have maybe been a bit more up to speed with the local area, but a map also sorts this out (which we forgot to pack)
In terms of stuff for the kids:
There's a nice, well kept adventure park on site, with an offering of activities from basic swings, right up to a mini-zip wire which my kids adored. No dogs were allowed to this part, but other little ones seemed to forget to close the gates as they ran in/out all afternoon, so dogs could possibly get access.
Not the cheapest of places, but we believe in 'you get what you pay for' and would happily return. More so if they had offers on to cut the cost ;)
On site facilities were also good, clean and modern, with a number of washrooms, a laundrette and a 'tuck shop' type room with enough munchies to satisfy most kids.
Off-site: there's a couple of nice villages nearby offering pubs which looked nice, though we didn't visit them, and the site is also about 10 minutes from Budle Bay (sp?), which is a lovely beach. Special mention to the local chippy in Belford, who did an amazing fish and chips (x2), along with stuff for the kids and the price was a fraction over a tenner! Bargain!
Long story short: great stay, excellent area and fantastic people.

Returned from a three night stay at South Meadows. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They sited and levelled the caravan which was was a big help. They also fixed my toilet flush and then helped us when our motor mover didn't work when we were packing up. As I was travelling on my own with my daughter so it was a great help.
The toilets were very clean and always quiet, although the site seemed to be very busy on the first evening. There was also soap available in both the toilets and the showers, plus a hairdryer.
The site is kept very neat and tidy with obvious care being taken with the grounds.
When we arrived it looked like it was very busy so I asked for a quiet pitch and this was no trouble at all. The site was very quiet in the area we were in, both at night and in the mornings.
There is a co-op in nearby Belford and also a fantastic farm shop next to to the site.
A lovely peaceful site, with good access from the A1, with very helpful staff and I will be returning.

In parts an excellent site but equally in parts very poor. The site has clearly expanded, adding a large number of new pitches but sadly there has been no addition to the toilet block, the result is over stretched facilities. The new super pitches are large but some are a long walk from the toilets. The main negatives (in addition to the lack of showers etc. ) are
1 - the internet, was only working for 1 morning of a 7 day stay, no information as to why and all enquiries were met with 'should be on in an hour or two', with each enquiry you were made feel you were in the wrong for asking.
2 - price, the rate per night is high but add to this expensive laundry and most ( of the few) items for sale in the office are expensive.
3 - toilet block - it appeared that the block was well cleaned once a day but it did not seem to be checked regularly so at busy times it got dirty quickly.
4 - woodland walk - all the paths have been covered in stone so not liked by all dogs.
The good points
1 - good location and easy to get to
2 - large pitches with lots of space
3 - excellent children's play area and football field.
4 - very good farm shop and cafe next door.
Overall an ok site but several areas that could be better.

First time at South Meadows and I have to say what a great site this is. The pitches are a good size and the place is kept immaculate. The toilet and shower blocks are great. There is always plenty of hot water and they are always clean and tidy.
The park and play field for the kids are excellent.
It is also very reasonably priced. I will definitely be returning to this site.

Just returned from a three night stay at South Meadows and will definitely be returning. The site is immaculate. Guy was cutting the grass when we arrived and it was perfect. He cordoned off any muddy areas so they had time to dry out. Toilets and showers were the cleanest I have ever seen and all the time! The staff must work extremely hard. They even have family shower rooms with a toilet, sink and two showers. None of us queued at any time for the shower, toilet or washing up area.
The new play area is fantastic and our kids spent hours in it. There is also a massive field for the kids to play on. Lovely even pitches, which are huge! Some reviews mentioned the toilets being quite far away from the tents, but to be honest, I'd rather be away from them instead of right next to them! And the walk was a pleasant one!
Downsides: the gate on the play area would be better on the side where the field is as our 3 year old could easily have ran out into the road (which fair enough is near the gate and there is a 10m/p/h speed limit, but there's always a slight risk). There is no shop on site, just a vending machine. But in saying that, there is a farm shop next door and Belford is only a short walk away. And finally, there is a 10. 30pm noise restriction, but this isn't reinforced. Although we aren't frumps and don't mind people talking quietly until midnightish, we do have small kids and loud talking and laughing right near can keep them up or wake them. Just a slight gripe!
All in all, a fantastic site. We were lucky with the weather too. Definitely worth a try!

Just stayed at South Meadows camp site at Belford and what a surprise. We have stayed there before in our tent but have now moved to a motorhome and decided to spend a few nights there and explore Northumberland at our leisure.
I have to say the development that has happened since we stayed before is wonderful. It is a well maintained site, one of the best if not the best we have stayed at. The fields for tents are very flat and spacious and well tended. The toilet block is immaculate. It has a great dog walk one of the biggest we have experienced.
The people are friendly and they have facilities for storing caravans and motorhomes either inside or outside.
The village of Belford is lovely and within walking distance from the site. Belford also has a golf club which is situated just before you come into the village.
The A1 is very close which allows good links to the coast. Bamburgh Castle is about 10 minutes away and Belford is between Alnwick and Berwick on Tweed both well worth a visit.
Only small downside is that wifi is not available all round the campsite. Even when I sat outside reception with my laptop, I still couldn't get a good enough signal to get the internet. I think if they installed some boosters around the site, this would make this site absolutely perfect.
Prices are a bit more expensive than we are used to with the camping and caravanning club, but well worth it. We paid £21 per night for a super pitch. We will certainly be regular visitors.

Lovely site well kept and staff very helpful especially when they helped out with a bracket for our satellite dish. Showers were fine with plenty of hot water as long as you kept pressing the button and it was nice to have soap in the cubicle.
Couldn't use the woodland walk as our dog couldn't walk on the large stones but plenty of places to walk off site.
We eat at the Bluebell Hotel on the night and were very lucky that they had just changed their policy on letting dogs in so we were the first to eat in the lounge area with the dog and the food was wonderful.

Brilliant! Well run, friendly staff and lots of space. I had a pitch for the tent with power and plenty of flat, green space around (dry too) no slopes or hills, great! The kids playground looks smashing, although I'm an adult I was tempted to have a go on the cable swing!. Would anyone notice? The site is well away from the main road so the kids are very safe to run about. Shower, lavatories were spotless and lots of hot water. Super farm shop next door, Belford is close by for a few cosy pubs as well as late a night Co-op for any supplies you may need. This place is clearly well cared for and has on going improvements. I suspect it will get even better for those who own statics on the site and for those of us who visit now and again. I will happily return.

Stayed here in the folding camper over the bank holiday weekend. The site was full, think we got the last available grass pitch with electric. The lady in reception was welcoming and polite and we were given an information sheet, but it didn't really tell you much about the site or the surrounding area.
The site itself is reasonably flat, but there was a huge trench like dip along the middle of our pitch, which wasn't ideal when siting the camper or furniture in the awning. There was plenty of space surrounding the pitch and there was nothing opposite us at all, so the views were great. They do seem to be landscaping more pitches in that area though.
The toilets / showers were the best we've encountered and really accommodated families with smaller children, having specially arranged family showers with adjustable / removable shower heads in the family shower rooms. There are also larger shower cubicles with 2 showers in them, so you can get in with a child and not be stood there freezing cold whilst showering them. The standard showers are fixed head, push button ones, but have adjustable temperature. There were also plenty of hooks to hang clothes and towels on and a shower curtain between the shower and the changing area. They were always clean when we used them, but I did notice that many of the other campers did not mop them out after use, which is just plain rude. Despite the site being full, we never had to queue for a shower or a toilet at any time. They also supplied shampoo / bodywash in all the showers.
The children's play area looked brand new and was fantastic. The only complaint I have is that it is outside the gated area of the site and so we didn't feel comfortable letting our daughter go off on her own to play. It had swings, climbing frames, slides and a zip wire and would suit children from toddler age to teens.
The surrounding area is lovely and there are lots of things to do and see and the beach at Bamburgh is lovely, if a little windy!
All in all, we really enjoyed our time at this site, it wasn't perfect, but have yet to find anything that is.
