Just returned from Bellingham Brownrigg. When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly and helpful owners, very nice. The surrounding area is beautiful, the local village is a twenty minute walk or five in the car. There is a well Stocked co op and a few pubs one that does take away. For such a small place there is two banks. The site itself is level and very clean and tidy. The toilets and showers are pristine. There is a laundry and inside washup place. The reception stocks eggs and milk and a few other things .
The only gripe I have is the park , two swings that's it, my son was gutted. He spent the whole weekend bored to tears and trying to keep out the way of some nasty girls.
The site is worth going to but not if your child likes a decent park.

We stayed here for a weekend at the last minute to try out our new tent. (an outwell montana 6 - which is fantastic by the way!) We arrived at teatime and a lovely man (can't remember his name) helped us to find a nice pitch. The pitches weren't marked, but they have the caravan and camping 6 metre rule which means you get loads of space. The play area doesn't have much to it but the children managed to entertain themselves.
The couple who ran the place were really friendly and helpful and gave us some good ideas of things to do and places to visit with the kids that didn't cost the earth!
The little shop sold a few basic bits and pieces, but there is a co op in the village which sells anything else you need. We didn't visit the organic farm shop next door, but the shop on site sold their sausages which were lovely. (quite expensive though!)
I couldn't get over how quiet and well kept the site was. The toilets and showers were spotless, and there was never a queue! I would definitely return here again. Great for a couple of nights rest and relaxation.

This was our third visit to Bellingham. This year seeing some great improvements to an already peaceful, well maintained clean site, we noted dbl-glazing to the immaculate modern facilities block, development of a secluded area for the fab-PODS near to the reception, a key-pad entry to the field and relaying of all roads around the whole of the site, the shop has also increased its variety of provisions.
We've been to Hareshaw Lynn (twice), the first spending 3-4 hours playing at the bottom of the waterfall (yes at 40+) and particularly enjoy Bellingham for the walking, both Hill and River Bellngham town is friendly with a few good pubs and a nice hotel/restaurant - all within walking and drinking distance of the site. For more adventure there is Kelder which is approx 9 miles from the site and well worth spending a day.
Carole & Barry were as welcoming as ever and it was nice to be recognised (again), provided with an information sheet and location of main facilities (again :-) ). They are very warm and friendly, always smiling even when taking you to your pitch (occasionally in the rain), while showing you where everything is on site. It has always been very busy when we have visited (bank hols) yet we've always been welcomed with a smile and great customer service and an immaculately clean site.
We'll be back and do recommend a visit to Bellingham to all our friends and family.

Stayed here in the Easter break for a few days. The countryside surrounding the area is stunning. Bellingham is the local village which is small but has shops and pubs to visit if you wish.
We went to the Organic Meat shop but were not that impressed as the meat didn't look that good on the day we visited. We went to the Riverdale Hotel and had a lovely meal. We were given a voucher to use the swimming pool had we had time but thought this was a nice touch.
Onto the site itself which is clean throughout and has a modern toilet block. The main road runs alongside the site with some traffic noise. The site is quite small with a shop and telephone box. It does have a small play area near the entrance. The new pods look small but to be fair we did not look in them but they are placed in is a small fenced area with wood chippings close to the entrance.
The price as a non member is pretty steep considering there are no facilities such as clubhouse, sports entertainments for children and such like. There only appears to be ever one person running the shop and cleaning the toilets which means when the cleaning is being done the shop has to close up which I found most odd.
The weather was quite mixed when we were there and not too warm. There were heaters in the ladies toilet block but they were not switched on. Not pleasant to be cold when you come out of the shower on a chilly morning.
That aside I would recommend the area especially Alwick, visit Barters bookshop and the castle where parts of Harry Potter were filmed. The Roman Vindalanda and Hadrians Wall is a fascinating insight into how Roman Britain was. There is a great butchers in Haltwhistle called G K foods I think which sells the best steak pies you'll ever taste.
As for staying at Bellingham Brown Rigg site again the answer is a definite no chance. I am sure there must be sites nearer the coastal areas offering better value for money and a warmer welcome to be had.

We've been to Bellingham before and stayed by the trees in a tent. We had a great time then, but this year Bellingham has camping pods and we couldn't resist!
We spent 2 nights in the new pods which were a revelation! Camping with a heater and electric lights really makes for a more comfortable experience but you still feel like you're in the great outdoors - that's probably testament to the lovely site as much as the lovely pods.
We took a walk to Hareshaw Linn, about 2 miles or so out of Bellingham - it's quite an easy walk and we were rewarded with a stunning 30ft waterfall.
We'll definitely be back in the summer and I don't doubt we'll be off to Hareshaw again. And to Kielder. And to Hadrian's wall.!
Needless to say, the site was immaculate with super-clean facilities. If you're planning a trip to the Borders stay here, you'll love it! :)

As everyone has said a lovely campsite. The toilet block is fab, the site well laid out and organised.
The village has really got the lot - pubs, bakers, chemist.
On site shop is well stocked
Keilder meats is just on the next road - sausages cheaper at their shop than the campsite - but worth every penny yummy
Normally peaceful, but the road to Bellingham runs along one side of the site - which can be a bit noisy - but its worth putting up with it for the views , location and the lovely owners and managers.

We stayed for a week & had very wet weather. The site is level and did get water logged.
The site is well maintained with gravel paths all around the site. One main toilet/shower block which was very clean & has plenty of hot water, closed each day 10.30 - 12 for cleaning. (an outside toilet was open). There is a small play area for the kids which is fenced off.
The village is about 10min walk away. No street lights so take a torch! A lovely little place. The butcher is great & does packs for bbqs, there is a Co-op, which is well stocked, post office, chemist, bank (with cash machine) & 3 pubs in the village. A good place to eat is The Bay Horse, which is about 5 miles outside Bellingham (on A68 crossroads), really good food & reasonable prices.
Keilder Water is well worth a visit. It has some lovely walks/ cycle paths and a cruise every hour on the lake & a lovely bar/cafe overlooking the lake. Also a walk from the village, approx 2miles, takes you to a waterfall ( Hareshaw Lynn) which is really spectacular is definitely worth doing.

Can only confirm what other reviewers have already said. The site is lovely and peaceful, well managed with clean facilities. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Stunning scenery with plenty of walks nearby. A visit to the Riverdale Hall Hotel for dinner is a must, food is great and not too expensive, 2 courses for £18 or 3 for £20. You also get opportunity to use their pool and sauna. Will definitely be re-visiting, so much more to see that we didnt have time for this visit.

This is a fantastic C&CC site. The location is great, under an hour from Newcastle, and in one of the loveliest parts of Northumberland. The site is extremely well maintained with spotless loos & showers (though I never do understand why these close in mid-morning for cleaning, surely it's likely people may want to use them then?!). The site was a great mixture of tents, caravans and motorhomes with a really friendly mix of people on site and extremely friendly and informative site owners / managers. There's a small children's playground which kept our boys busy, and when we visited there were plenty of other kids on the site to keep our eldest amused with 'new friends'. As others have said, the surrounding area is picture postcard stuff, with the village of Bellingham with its pubs, a co-op and a cash machine only 10-15 mins walk away, and an organic farm shop on the doorstep. All in, a lovely, friendly and picturesque site that we'll definitely visit again.
