Having returned from Brown Rigg campsite, my initial impression was excellent, as it is central to lots of beauty spots and the layout was very good.
I noticed there was virtually no issues with onsite facilties and the site was in general immaculate, unlike some other sites I have been to recently.
The dog walk was really good, with decent access to longer walks from the access road nearby. Admittely the walk was slightly muddy, but compared to the submerged site I was at before going here, this is a vast difference.obviously the owners have spent more time on the drainage etc.
Overall I give this 9/10 considering the weather :)

We stayed on this small but pleasant site for 4 days, including bank holiday monday. Toilets and showers are spacious and very clean, I think the ladies may have been updated recently.
There is a road running along side the site, but it was only the occasional vehicle passing and did not effect the peace and tranquility.
We walked into the nearby pretty village of Bellingham (20 mintues) which has a couple of small supermarkets, bakers, pubs etc.
The site owners invited everyone on site to a barbeque celebrating Camping and Caravanning Week, meat was from the local organic butchers. They where the tastiest burgers we have ever had.
Very nice site and would recommend it for short stays, our only niggle was the pitching of tents directly behind the caravan, they were not the required distance and the occupants were driving their vehicle back and forth inches from the awning.

Only stayed for one night and the welcome we got was fantastic. Staff were all great, facilities was fab too. Showers, toilets (pass code to enter) and dish washing area mega clean and loads of boiling boiling hot water. Little play area was fine, with a slide and 2 swings. Little shop for basic things. Pitch size more than ample. Short walk to little village, not a great deal to see there, but only access is down the road - not always a path, but cars are very understanding. River runs near by and we enjoyed a walk with the dog there. My only problem with this site is the dog walk was very poor. It was not fenced off and was, in my opinion too close to others pitches (right behind) When we visited the rain was not on our side and the very short dog walk was very boggy. Would go back, but not for a long stay.

What can I say we did not want to leave the great site that you have, thanks for the warm welcome on our recent visit we loved every moment of it. The site is something to be proud of and the long hours you both work is visible in the quality of the whole site. We are looking forward to our next visit hopefully in august 2007.
The toilets and showers are the best we have ever used on any site we have stayed at.

This is a very well run site with some of the best staff I have experienced. They couldn't do enough to assist you with anything at all and even waited after 8pm to allow us on to the site after we had got lost!
Toilets and showers are immaculate: shower cubicles are very spacious and there was always hot water in the push-button showers. Indoor pot-washaing room with plenty of hot water. The reception had a good deal of information and maps and sold the bare essentials in their little shop. Pitches were a good size and the layout of the site meant that tents, campervans and caravans all mingled together.
The location of the site is useful for visiting Kielder, Cheviots and Borders. The town of Bellingham is quite a walk down a busy narrow road - we decided to drive it!
All round very clean, well run site in a good location. Would return if in area.

Wow, where should I start about this site. For one it's fantastic, can honestly say the best site we have stayed on. It is 1/2 mile outside of Bellingham. The site itself is well layed out with a good mixture of hard-standing and grass with lots of electric points, these have night lights on. Lovely views from 3 sides. There is a gate go get onto the site and a lovely park for the kids. The park is fenced in with swings and a wooden climbing frame. It was great for the kids and we knew they would be safe with if being fenced in. The roads were all gravel so the kids could hear the cars coming. The wardens are fantastic, very friendly and helpful and even give us a choice of pitches. There is a shop on site with the basics and a payphone. The toilets were the best I have ever seen. There is a pass code to get in and when you open the door the spotlights come on. One side is sinks in an enclosed cubicle with doors and the other side is the spotless toilets. There is 3 showers and they are really big with a stool and 5 hanging pegs. They were push button showers but lasted a long time. Also in the shower was a shelf below the window and a hanger below the shower to put all your bits and pieces. There is a hairdryer which is free. The dishwashing area was indoors with 3 sinks and then the laundry part which again was spotless. It is a well thought out site. It also has wifi internet which was very cheap and if you don't want to pay you can still access the camping and caravanning club website so that you can book up for the next site. The site has a lovely feel to it and is very peaceful, even with the kids playing LOL. Down the road is a organic farm which sells organic meat, you can either go yourself or order before 12 at the site reception and get it delivered at the site later in the day. Also in Bellingham is the village bakery, the food is delicious. There is a very nice walk to Hareshaw LInn which is 3 miles round trip which was stunning. We will be going back to this site.

A really lovely site. Toilets and and showers were super, really clean. They close them between 11 and 12 noon to clean them which could be a pain as they close all of them. The play area could be improved. They have a no ball games rule which is fair enough but play area isn't really suitable for children under 5 so not much to do for children.

Stayed here for three nights. Very clean site and quiet because of no noise 11pm to 7am rule. As we had no children we were asked to camp at the far end even though my husband is disabled and so getting to the toilet block meant a trip in the car or a very long slow walk! Toilets were closed between 11am and noon for cleaning - quite awkward if you take water tablets! but they were probably the best showers and toilets I have ever seen in 40 years of camping. Gate is closed at 11pm - so if (like us) you were late coming home (we went to see friends in the area) you have to park up at reception and walk to your tent. Probably not the best site for families - no ball games etc. But we would certainly use it again. When we arrived we were bothered by flies but were told they go away after about an hour and guess what it was right!

We stayed on this site in June and it was everything we wanted it to be, it was quiet, peaceful, very tidy, and wash rooms were immaculate. The owners were very friendly and helpful , I just wish other sites were to this standard. Ron & Angela Pritchard

This is an excellent site in a very beautiful setting. The site was very quiet when I stayed there and I think the site rules are a very positive thing because they keep it that way. Both the shower / toilet block and washing up / laundry room's were very clean and accessed by combination locks, another good idea. It's a shame there is no picture of the site on this web site as it may mean its overlooked by some people. The site is in an ideal location for walking Hadrian's wall and touring the north east. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
