Unit: Camping pod
The owners were very friendly and helpful when I phoned up to book; I changed our booking and phoned to enquire about the camping pods generally and both people I spoke to were more than helpful.
The pods are great - four of them set in their own little enclosure close to the toilet block and reception. We were given a choice of which one we wanted and plenty of information to inform our choice. With each pod there is a huge storage box (boots, rucksacks etc), a clothes airer (great for towels) plus 2 chairs and a table. The heating was a boon as it was freezing for the first few nights and there isn't a limit to how long you can keep the heater on for :-) There's a nice size decking area which was great for cooking. The owners gave helpful and practical advice about using cookers and barbecues in/near the pod but weren't precious about barbecues as some people can be!
The site itself is immaculate and very well run; the showers, basins and toilets were sparkling (loved the radio playing!) and there's just a general expectation with CC sites that you look after the place - no explosion of notices! There's a few washing up sinks and laundry facilities if you need and a small but swish children's play area. Freezer blocks can be put in at reception, 50p per block per freeze so could get pricey when it's warmer and you need to do a few!
The area is wonderful - Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Water (27 mile killer bike ride but good fun!). Then there's the Cheviots, Rothbury (NT Cragside), Alnwick and of course the wonderful Farne Islands and beautiful coastline about 1-1. 5 hours away. The owners were interested that we were heading to the coast and gave us route directions which was a nice friendly touch.
Bellingham itself is a nice little place - lovely bakers and butchers plus a co-op for grocery needs. There's a few other shops to pick up camping stuff too. We didn't eat in any of the pubs although we went for a drink to the nearby hotel which was lovely and they didn't mind at all that we were in walking boots - the food looked nice and fairly reasonably priced.
We really liked this site and the area - the folk at the site were helpful and friendly including the 2 newbies who were being trained up! CC sites always have certain rules and regulations but promote a quiet, calm site, with first class, immaculate facilities. I would certainly recommend this site and would love to visit again at some point - thanks for a lovely stay.

Two weeks Easter Break at Bellingham Campsite Site with immaculate toilets, clean and tidy pitching area with plenty of hard-stands and small shop and playground. 10-15 minutes walk from site in to Bellingham and a number of good pubs and chinese takeway, also a nice carriage converted cafe and Heritage Centre (discounts to both from site reception).
The Riverdale Hotel is within walking distance for meals in restaurant bar (dogs allowed in bar). Bellingham has Hareshaw Linn Waterfall with some fabulous crafted bridges. Kielder water is 9 miles from the site, 27 mile radius with plenty of information / parking / cafes etc. , and also Kielder Observatory being the darkest observatory in the country with nightly open sessions.
Definitely recommend and will be back.

This was the last of four campsites we stayed on during our trip this year and certainly deserves its excellent reviews.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming, the pitch large and immaculately kept. The facilities were modern, clean and tidy, with the nice touch of piped Radio 2 to accompany our ablutions!
Bellingham, with a selection of shops including a Coop which stayed open late, was easily accessible and there were a number of pleasant walks from the campsite.
On site, a dedicated dog walking area was welcome for early morning and late night use! We visited Kielder Water and Hadrian's Wall, both within easy reach of the site.
The only negative point was a small amount of road noise as our pitch was close to the fence.

Could not fault this site, when we arrived our motorhomes engine decided not to start.
The staff came to our help straight away even putting a battery charger on for us.
When we did get sited onto our pitch it was spacious, very well kept and very clean.
The site was immaculate, set in a beautiful location and had a small shop which was well stocked.
Very friendly staff who are on site 24hours,
Will definitely be returning soon.

This is one of the best sites we have ever visited. A warm welcome, spotlessly clean and well organised. This was our first visit but it wont be the last.
During our stay unexpected visitors were arriving from other sites that had been flooded and the managers and their assistants couldn't have been more helpful.
Just a short walk to the village where we received a warm welcome from the locals. Information/Heritage Centre with Rail Carriage Tea Room, run by volunteers, was well worth a visit.

We rang site literally 2 hours before arriving as a last minute decision to go and were not disappointed.
The site is set on the outskirts of Bellingham, literally a 2 minute drive to the village (or 15-20 min walk depending on pace)which has pubs, newsagents and co op for the essentials. Hexham is probably a 20 minute drive away.
Arrived to a friendly team at reception who gave us site info including local interest and also a booklet about the nearby Kielder Water. Ideal as this was where we planned to visit the following day.
We were shown to our pitch and the helpful warden indicated where the edge of our tent should be in following the 6m safety rule and if we needed any help with anything that he would be around.
Pitch was lovely and flat, no need for rock pegs, and all pitches have electric whether grass or hard standing.
There was an on site shop which also sold everything from local produce (meat and milk), bread, gas and sweet treats for the kids. It also had a full information stand with leaflets on local interest places etc.
Toilets were kept immaculately clean (closed between 11-12. 30 if I remember) and had radio 2 piped into them!
Kids play area spot on and room for ball games, as this is a c&cc site they lock it up at 9pm which wasn't a problem as it meant could get our son into bed at a decent time!
Only downside I would have to say is that site is next to road and we did experience noise from racing motorbikes and cars going past which started at around 8 am.
Have to add a HUGE positive to this site and their staff is that they had displayed the poster warning campers about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning/bbqs in tents. Well done, lets hope others do likewise!
Will certainly return for another weekend visit here as so near to home.

When we arrived we were greeted by the assistant warden who showed us a choice of pitches. We were here over the May Bank Holiday but there was still plenty of space round our tent so it did not feel crowded.
The toilets and showers were always clean and I liked the radio playing all the time. There is a j-cloth on every wash hand basin so it was easy to wipe it clean after use.
The camp shop stocks all the basics and Bellingham is only 15 minutes walk away. The is a Co-Op, bakery, post office, cafe and Chinese take away. There are several pubs and at least 3 of these sell bar meals.
It is a lovely welcoming site that is meticulously maintained by very friendly and helpful staff.

Stayed in one of the pods for 3 nights after the Easter weekend. Loved the site! Immaculate facilities could not fault the cleanliness standards at all.
The site has 4 pods grouped together in a little 'croft'. Usual pod set up (heater and lights) with a few added extras - picnic table outside, lockable storage trunk, airer and table and chairs.
Some folk may not like that you can't park right next to your pod (cars have to be parked a very short distance away) but it didn't bother us. The owners and staff were very friendly. Good shop and information point.
The site is an easy 15 minute walk into Bellingham where there is a Co-op, post office, chemist, excellent cafes, heritage centre, pubs etc. Plenty to do in the surrounding area. Would absolutely return to the site.

It's always a pleasure arriving at a well maintained camp site and Bellingham is right up there with the best of them.
The facilities are pristine 24/7 with spacious showers and privacy cubicles and even piped music to make the experience even more pleasurable.
The site is maintained to a very high standard; we stayed for two weeks during the Autumn, there was barely a leaf to be found on the well manicured lawns and the hanging baskets and tubs were freshly planted with winter blooms - not left with the remnants of summer plants as so often happens on other sites! The site shop sells all you'll need in terms of day to day necessities - and more (including locally produced Bellingham Campsite Bangers)- but if needs be, the dog-friendly pubs, shops and banks of Bellingham are a short walk away.
The owners, Carole and Barry, made us feel very welcome and were a mine of information about the local area and all it has to offer - of which there is plenty. One of those nearby attractions is the Keilder Birds of Prey Centre who were invited to visit the site during our stay and brought along cute little owls, kestrel, falcon and sparrowhawk. They performed a very informative and spectacular flying display for the benefit of the campers, all totally free of charge - as is the site wi-fi incidentally! It's often such attention to detail that makes the difference between a good site and an exceptional one and Bellingham does detail brilliantly. We look forward to our next visits.

Have just returned from our first outing to this site. We selected it because it was only an hour from home. Being a bank holiday weekend we didn't hold out much hope for decent weather but didn't fair too badly.
The site was very nice - quiet, with good facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our pitch and the staff member offered advice on pitching.
When checking in we were given a booklet for Keilder (which we used to plan our visit), information on site and pass codes for toilets/shower facilities and barriers. We had no problems with midges (am very pleased to say).
There is a small playground area for children, a shop which stocks some good basics and free wifi (kept the OH happy)! The site is located in a lovely village with two banks, (one cashpoint), a co-op which was well stocked, a small PO, two take-a-ways and several pubs.
It is also well placed for Otterburn Mill, Kielder Water and Forest and the Wall. We definitely plan to return next year for another nice long weekend and are grateful that this little gem is only an hour away from home.
