I agree with all the reviews already left about this fantastic campsite. We have just returned from a 3 night stay with amazing weather. As everyone has said, Marcella was extremely welcoming and came around every evening to check everything was ok, that we had enough wood and to wish us goodnight, where else do you get this?? The toilets were always spotless and the showers, which cost 50p, were piping hot and very powerful. The camp fridge- freezer was very useful. We stayed in the 'sheepland' (?) field which was very flat and I thing the closest to the toilets. It was no problem crossing the road to the toilets, although as others have said it is a fast road but not at all busy, so don't let this put you off. We were only one of 3 tents in the field and so had plenty of room for the kids to play and run about. Plenty to do in the area. The ridgeway walk is well worth doing, which you can do straight from the campsite, and takes in the white horse and wayland smithy. Marcella told us that there is sometimes an ice cream van up there, although is wasn't when we went. Might be an idea to have some change just in case! We also did a trip to Oxford which only took about 1/2 hour to get to. An absolute fantastic campsite.

Great little spot and surprisingly quiet for an Easter Weekend. Apparently lots to see and do in the area though didn't really get out too much! Very good pub within a mile - the Fox and Hounds in Uffington - though top tip, make sure you book if going for Sunday Lunch - the place was rammed and the food looked excellent. However, Landlord very friendly and told us about the Wood Man in the next village - again excellent. The campsite was very relaxed with the ablitily to have a fire - wood actually dropped off at your Tent by Marcella(?) She's an absolute gem! Fresh Eggs, Cream Teas on a Sunday and wood delivered to your Tent. Perfect.

Last minute me and my mate decided to head out to this site, excellent choice! Less than 2 hours from East London, we were blessed with good weather but also a no-frills, no rules campsite. Good lot of paper, firelighter string and wood was left for us (we arrived at midnight). Marcella not around but Paul looked after us well (great late-night extra wood service!) The White Horse is very close and the view was lovely. Cant recommend it enough

We stayed in Plum field which is flat then quite a slope and then levels out again. If you are like me and don't like pitching on a slope then this could be a problem. But there are numerous fields and so you could move. We were fine, pitched in the middle at the top of the slope. The toilets are converted outhouses, and remind me of my days of youth hostelling as a nipper. They were always spotless and toilet rolls and clean towels provided everyday. In the toilets is the camp sink and fridge. I didn't look in the showers, but i'm sure they are adequate. It is a hike to the toilets with children. OK after dark as I guess everyone is in the hedges. You have to cross the road and then walk up a track to get to the toilets. The road, although not busy is a very fast one, so children must be accompanied. Marcella is a lovely lady, as everyone has said. She obviously realises what is the simple basic requirements of her campers. She came round in the evening to sell us firewood £3.00 per bag and had a lovely chat, which she does with everyone and made you feel that you weren't trespassing, which a lot of farmers campsites make you feel. The views are splendid and all in all this campsite has given me a new resurgence to camp in this fashion again. Since the children came along, we have tended to get more and more sophisticated campsites, losing the escapism that is what the soul is in need of. I shall definitely return and bring all my fellow camping friends that have lost their way as well.

If you are looking for a relaxed, rural site we cannot recommend this site highly enough! We truly did not want to leave, and actually extended our stay twice! Marcella, the owner is truly wonderful. Besides running the farm, she still found time to ensure we were all happy. Even delivering fire-wood to our tent late, when we made a last-minute decision to stay on.
This our first family camping holiday. We wanted to avoid the regimented pitches/rules and uber-scheduled 'tiger clubs' of some of the larger sites. We were not disappointed. Marcella only asked us to use the existing firepits, to save the grass. Which was no problem as they were plentiful and varied in situation.
With no measured pitches and the freedom to pitch almost anywhere Marcella has a knack of guiding 'reveller's to one field, and families to another. Which worked very for all concerned. You really felt that she had EVERYONE'S comfort and enjoyment at heart. The onsite facilities have already been listed, but we can say that they were monitored and kept very clean. And as for the 'Campers Fridge'. What a boon for those of us without an EHU!
Asides from the stunning walks on the White Horse Hill and Waylands Smithy, you simply must try Marcella's free range eggs! Laid that very morning. Delicious! As are the Cream Teas served in the yard, if you are lucky enough to stay on a Sunday or Bank Holiday.
This place is like a little gem in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside. If you want tranquility and huge starry skies around the campfire, you should go. We will certainly be back as soon as commitments allow. But keep this under your hat, lest it get too busy ;o)

This was our 1st camping experience, complete with a 2 & a 3 year old! What a fabulous weekend we had. We were made to feel very welcome by Marcella. We were given the choice of about 3 fields to camp in. They were all really spacious & uncrowded. We opted for Plum Tree but , as the short walk down the B road to the toilets wasn't easy with children, we would opt for Sheep View (? I think that was what it's called) next time.
The toilets etc were all clean. The personal attention by Marcella was very reassuring. We had torrential rain & a big thunder storm, but Marcella came around in her landrover when it had finished to check that everyone was ok.
The children loved the ducks, geese, hens & sheep. They also enjoyed the freedom of being able to run around the field whilst we sat back & soaked up the stunningly beautiful scenery.
We shall definitely return, hopefully later this month.

I'm tempted not to tell you about this tiny piece of paradise but I suppose it would be rude not to share it. I had three small children with me so Marcella, the owner, offered us the chance to stay in the small field at the front of her farmhouse, close to toilets and showers. We preferred to risk the road (not too busy but only narrow verges to walk on, no footpaths) and use one of the three additional fields, where the boys ran fairly free and wild - hooray. We stayed for five nights in August and expected the site to be heaving with people but for four of those nights we had the field nearly to ourselves and felt nicely isolated due to the geography of the field. Marcella was fab! You get a really personal service and she is extremely kind and caring. She popped round twice a day to check we had everything we needed, from her own hens' free range eggs to firewood. It is a fairly no frills camping experience though. Nothing beats a real fire under billions of stars (no light pollution here!) and Marcella delivered the wood to our tent at a cost of £6 for two bags. There is a fridge freezer which is free for campers' use (had I stayed longer I would have been able to store sausages or fishfingers for the kids!) The showers were basic (we kept our flip flops on) but we never had to queue. The water was hot and there was no time limit on our showers, which we added to our final bill and paid for at the end, costing 50p each. Two of the three loos are in the same building as the washing up facilities so you sometimes need to be able to whistle! There were clean towels and loo paper in the toilet cubicles. On Sundays and Bank Hols Marcella does lovely cream teas and although we didn't have one this visit, we were tempted to prolong our stay by an extra day just so we could have one! The views from our tent of the Vale of the White Horse and Dragon Hill were a joy; miles of farmland stretching out forever with only the occasional sighting of a car or train to drag you back to the real world. There was a pretty constant stream of air traffic though; everything from microlights to helicopters circled the hills for a view of the White Horse, including fly overs from military helicopters. White Horse Hill rises up from the rear of the farm (Marcella farms sheep on the site) so it was a fairly easy walk up to view Uffington Castle and the Horse (when my mum stays she drives up to the car park and has a flatter walk to the sites). Uffington has a lovely children's playpark and we looked round the church (museum only open weekends). There are good pubs locally and we sampled the take away facilities of Wantage too! My boys were gutted to have to leave and their only question was, 'When can we go again?' Soon, I hope!

Two night stay for 6 of us and wow - what a brilliant site! Pitches that were level enough, grass cut to the required length. Although there was a walk over a B road for the toilets/showers they were always clean and as we had no kids in our party there was never a problem. 3 toilets and 2 showers for the whole site but they do allow caravans on the site as well so we were surprised to be able to get a shower after a one person queue! Like other reviews the owner is the nicest lady you could ever hope to meet, and the fridge she provides for campers should set a new standard. Will be returning in mid August!

Wow, this site is a real gem - as is Marcella, who runs the farm and site. I've just had a wonderful weekend there, did me the world of good. Actually it didn't do just me the world of good, but quite a lot of us. I've just marked my 50th birthday there by having a weekend with 55 friends and their 17 children. Marcella gave us a field to ourselves. The children ran footloose and free all day every day and we lazed, walked to a pub and cooked over the campfire. Marcella is one of the few people left, I reckon, who is open to campers camping round a real camp fire and I'm very glad she is. The site is beautiful - set in stunning landscape, with wonderful open vista sunsets. I liked the homeliness of everything - on Sunday, after we'd all packed up we strolled over the road to the farm for wonderful homemade scones and cream tea. Bliss. I'll be back.

Just returned from a wonderful couple of days here of escaping in the beautiful Downs countryside. We were well looked after, and the provision of logs for our own little camp fire was wonderful. There is nothing better to help de-stress than sitting outside next to your own fire, a glass or two of wine and looking up at the Milky Way. Its a short walk up to the White Horse, Uffington Castle and the Ridgeway. We were in a field further away from the main field / farm and it had portaloos. The main block has adequate toilets and two hot showers, which was a 200-300 yard walk away. We will return
