Just spent a wonderful week at this superb campsite. Pat & Chris the owners cannot do enough to help, and work so hard to make this site the perfect place to relax.
You are met and taken to your pitch by pat on her bicycle, everything explained about services. If you have difficulty, they will pull your caravan with the tractor and site it for you.
The toilet block & showers are immaculate. There are laundry facilities 1 washing machine & 1 dryer.
They are token operated ( from pat ) they are quick and effective. I never had to wait for any of these services.
The site is so well maintained, they both work so hard and it is shown in the quality of the site.
The site is situated just outside of the small village of Knayton, Just off the A19.
The site is tucked away in a lovely quite location.
Hillside happily caters for family's with children, they have a purpose made play area set away from the caravans. But within view of most caravans.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, don't worry as the pitches are so spacious you are not on top of the next caravan. They have put a lot of thought into the site layout, and the caravans are not in regimental rows. They are well spaced out, and laid out in different directions. Catching the sun and giving privacy from neighbours.
Would highly recommend this site, had a great stay.

Would definitely recommend this site to other members. Owners are very pleasant and helpful.
Pitches are all hardstanding and fully serviced. Security gate at entrance which you are given a fob to activate.
A plan of farm is given on arrival with footpaths marked. An excellent play area which I am sure children would enjoy and a playing field.

Notice to other caravan site owners, visit this site and a lot can be learned. Very well run pleasant site, pitch size was more than generous, plenty of room for caravan car and awning.
Once you have booked you are given a card for the electric gate and a key for the toilet / shower block, then you unhitch your caravan and the site wardens / owners hitch it up to their little tractor and drive it down the site to your allocated pitch. They will reverse park it for you level it off and show you the (what can only be described as a super super pitch, and they way sites should go) fully serviced pitch.
Hard standing, fresh water, electric, waster water (grey) tv hook up (a long cable was offered to me free of charge if mine wasn't long enough) and best of all toilet waste with screw lid. Brilliant!
Main toilets where well kept clean and looked fairly new. Thirsk is a 10 min drive away where there is a tesco and plenty of takeaway food outlets for supper.
It appears that most of the caravans are in a horseshoe shape all onlooking the on site play area which gave us great peace of mind for our 8year old lad to play.
Drive to the site is a little narrow but there is plenty of passing places so isn't a problem at all. The site is well maintained and extremely well kept.
This site will win awards in future I guarantee it, and with plans to extend the site this can only be a good thing.
Many thanks for a brilliantly run site we will be back with doubt.

We stayed at Hillside for 4 nights, and after a drive from Edinburgh it was lovely to arrive in the sunshine and be greeted by Pat who was very welcoming and friendly, we were shown to our pitch at the far end of the site near to the dog walks which was perfect for our two dogs.
The pitches themselves were fantastic with fresh water, black and grey waste, tv and satellite points and plenty of space and level, With great views around us.
The amenity block was always clean and warm, the underfloor heating was particularly nice on cold mornings. Pat was in there cleaning them one night at about 10. 30pm never seen that before.
All in all a 5 star site in my opinion, and highly recommended we will definitely return if ever up in that part of the country again.

What a delightful, well-run site!
After a warm welcome we were shown to our site (by bicycle!). The pitches were of a nice size and with plenty of space all round. It was a real treat to have water, waste etc all on the pitch without having to pay extra.
The site is well placed for plenty of good walks and Pat, the owner was very eager to give us maps and details of some of them.
The showers and toilets were very clean and smelled lovely and fresh. There was a slight problem with one of the showers in the ladies' draining away, but I told Pat and it was immediately dealt with.
We had a lovely stay and will definitely return.

This is our fourth visit this year to this lovely site.
The owners Pat and Chris are always helpful and pleasant and it is useful that they will park your caravan onto the pitch, aligning it perfectly with the fully serviced hook-up and levelling it up too. The pitches are generous and the layout has obviously been given a great deal of thought when designed with pleasant views of the surrounding countryside.
The toilet and shower block is very clean and well maintained and in a central location for all pitches.
There is a nice pub locally and the picturesque towns of Thirsk and Northallerton are only a short drive away.
This is a delightful site and we hope to make several more visits in 2012.

First visit to this site but it won't be our last. The site is a long way up a very narrow road, but there are plenty of passing places. It also means that the site once there is very quiet - perfect. The site is very secure with access through a gate which needs a security pass to open. The wardens are very helpful but not 'ever present' which makes it more private. The site is spotless, the pitches are huge with plenty of space between caravans and they have outstanding views. The amenities are very clean, hot showers and underfloor heating. Will definitely be re-visiting

In desperation in the middle of our Lake District tour we rang Hillside Caravan Park to escape the wet & windy hurricane Katia that had left us damp and miserable in the Lakes. We had seen that heading east had the sunnier weather so luckily Hillside had room and could accommodate us and our 2 dogs.
Site easy to find, after the village do not turn off (even if your sat nav says so) until you reach the park signs. Upon arrival we pulled up at the wrought iron gates and were greeted by the owner who was expecting us. Pat let us through the gates and personally showed us to our pitch. I decided immediately that we should adjust our planned one night stay to two nights!
WOW, what a site! In a wonderfully rural location just on the cusp of the moors (fantastic rural views from the pitches) the park is based on a working farm but it is lovely and clean & tidy. We loved the fact that the site was small and personal. I hate commercialised sites so this was just our cup of tea. Each pitch has it's own waste water drainage, chemical disposal (never seen this on individual pitches before!) aerial, water and light. Pitches spacious with grass area inbetween and have been thoughtfully placed so units are not in boring rows.
The shower block looks like brand new and was perfectly clean any time we visited. Fantastic FREE hairdryer with temperature control (never seen this before) Under floor heating was a real treat after walking to the facilities in flip flops through dewey grass.
Site very peaceful, and everyone staying on site respected that. We sat outside our motorhome in unbroken sunshine (something we didn't see in the lakes!) under big blue skies and just soaked it all in.
For children there is an excellent play area across from the pitches. Looks a quality made play area with traditional wooden play equipment (swings, rope bridge, slide, balancing obstacle course) and this is set in a huge 3 acre perfect lawned area for running about in safety.
For dog owners, there are walks around some of the owners property/fields. Ideal for our two German Shepherds.
Site very secure, with high gated entrance for which you are given a swipe card to get in and out. Key also given for loo/shower block. Disabled room available.
In the area we visited, Thirsk, Whitby, Pickering, Goathland (Heartbeat village - busy but worth a trip) and the Moors. So much to see and do in North Yorkshire that unfortunately in our short trip we didn't get to see it all.
We had takeaway fish and chips from the pub down the road in the village - make sure you ring up and pre-order it as they do get busy with food. Chips were real chips (not frozen) and very well priced (£3. 00 for cod £1. 50 for chips). The pub even gave us some butter when we discovered we had run out!
To sum up, well there are not enough words of praise I can say about Hillside. Everything has been carefully thought out by the owners - the pitches, the facilities, lush green well kept grass, even down to the lovely planting of lavender all around the loo block, it's these extra special touches that really makes this site perfection for us.
Highly recommended for lovers of peace & tranquillity with a bit of luxury.

Just spent a lovely weekend on this superb site, very helpful and friendly, toilets and shower block the best to date, under floor heated, very very clean.
Just wish there had been a shop and a pub and eating house near by. Still its not too far into thirsk.
Play area very good, information barn good. First time here wont be the last! Thank you to all concerned, oh and also some good dog walking.

We have yet again returned from Hillside and never get tired of this site, as the owners pat and chris cook are the most warm and welcoming of people I know who own a caravan park as nothing is ever a bother to them.
So yes as others say it is a fantastic caravan park if you havens yet been to this site then your certainly missing out on one of north Yorkshires best sites.
Thirsk is only a short drive away so while the guys are setting up the caravan the girls can nip into thirsk for a takeaway.
The dog and gun just down the lane from hillside has now started to do takeaway orders as well as table reservations and so worth a visit as the food is well worth the money.
We have booked up for the end of this month and cant wait to go back. Hillside is a quiet peaceful site where you can relax and chillout as you don't feel overlooked by other caravans like some caravan parks as the space between vans is quite vast.
There is plenty of walks for both dog walkers and the more serious hikers. The dog walk is a nice walk too so you can let your dog have a good stretch away from the caravans and the play area.
There is a small but adequately laid out play area which consist of a double swing a climbing frame with a firemans pole as well as a slide their is also a frame for those who like to be more competitive where you can shoot some hoops and kick the ball through the holes in the frame it keeps the kids occupied for hours.
The play field is quite large where the kids can run around and burn off all their pent up energy and kick a ball about or fly a kite without out the fear of hitting a caravan. There is also plenty of recycling bins on site, but still so many people still don't do their bit to recycle.
The toilet block is accessed by a key. The toilet block is kept clean and tidy at all times and inspected very regularly throughout the day the toilet block is very modern and always warm.
There is no shop on site as mentioned in previous reviews, but they do sell eggs and ice cream at the farm house.
Once you have visited this site for yourself then you will be impressed as much as we are every time we stay here.
