We've just had a lovely 4 nights on this site. It's so peaceful and relaxing. The owners were really friendly, nothing was too much bother. The new reception area was impressive and they have obviously invested lots of time and money into it.
I maybe agree with other reviews that the toilet/shower facilities could be limited if the site was full/busy but we didn't have a problem.
Our dogs were free to roam on their farm land as there were no crops in and they had a whale of a time chasing rabbits and pheasants. There was a children's play area but as our children have 4 legs it wasn't used.
We had a bit of a scare driving in as sat nav directed us to a ploughed field off a single track with passing places but luckily there is a sign saying no access to the site and a couple of hundred yards on is the proper gated access.
Overall we were really impressed and will definitely be returning next year.

What an amazing site. Beautiful views. Gorgeous walks. The toilet and shower block is truly luxury. Underfloor heating means no sloppy shower cubicles and the toilets are immaculate. The staff are are so lovely and more than happy to help and recommend places to go and see. The play area for kids is fab too. With swings big climbing frame and slide and basketball hoop. A perfect setting for kite flying too. Nothing is too much trouble here. Definitely worth a visit.

We have just returned home after spending a week at this beautiful site. The owners are very pleasant and are very willing to answer any questions that you have. The toilet block was exceptionally clean. The new shop at the reception that they have opened is ideal for you to buy essential groceries eg. Bread milk eggs and ice cream.

Excellent campsite - beautiful setting. Spotlessly clean facilities. Stayed over on our way to Scotland - rang late but they were able to accommodate us and with electric hook-up. Very friendly welcome. Will definitely visit again and enjoyed watching the rabbits jumping about in the early evening. Thank you.

Hillside offered just about everything we want from a caravan site. We had a huge pitch on the new section - some sites would have squeezed 2 or 3 extra pitches in the space between! The only minor downside being a long walk to the ablutions but the exercise was good for us and the weather stayed fine so it was not a problem. The toilet block was always clean and tidy - just don't forget the key if your van is a fair trek away!
The surrounding fields had easily accessible and lovely walks for our dogs and had plenty of wildlife to keep both them (on leads of course) and us interested.
The site was very well maintained and our serviced pitch had a TV point as well as the usual water tap and grey-water disposal drain. Bins and chemical disposal points were well distributed so we had no problems carrying waste over long distances. WiFi provided an acceptably solid and reliable signal using our signal booster though it was not stunningly fast.
The owners were very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
We are happily child-free but the site seemed to cater well for children and those on site caused no disturbance to us.
We ate exceedingly well at the nearest dog-friendly pub (Dog & Gun) but there were plenty of other choices within easy driving distance only.
We found plenty of interest in the surrounding villages and towns and loved the old fashioned feel of a cobbled town square with real local shops instead of wall-to-wall multi-national stores.
In summary - one of our all-time favourite sites, peaceful, plenty of space and the facilities we want from a site in a part of the country we want to return to. We intend to be back.

Brilliant as ever. Beautiful setting. Immaculate facilities. Helpful and sensible owners are always willing to help. Peaceful and quiet but close enough to some great days out on Dale, Moor or Coast. Not suitable if you want a club or pub on site or at the gate. Thirsk 15 minutes away. Carpenters Arms at felixkirk even nearer with lovely food and good beer

My husband and myself have just returned from a 9 night stay at this really nice site. This was our first visit and won't be our last. We were pleasantly surprised at how scenic the area is around Thirsk. We are both retired and prefer a quiet site so have decided this site would be ideal for us early and late in the season as the site does cater very well for children so we will avoid the school holidays. The site is also good for dogs, we have 2 Border Terriers who loved the walks around the site. The facilities are wonderful and the underfloor heating in the shower block was very welcome. There are lovely views from the site and when we were there all you could hear was the sound of the birds which we love. If I had a minus point it would be the WIFI, we paid for 9 nights WIFI but the signal was poor and very erratic.

We went here for 2 nights to test out our new to us caravan. The site was lovely, well kept and the facilities were spotless.
The owners were very friendly and we loved the fact that they used a tractor to site our caravan for us
The children's play area was very good too.
We nipped into thirsk for a few bits and it seemed a lovely village but other than that we can't comment on the area.
We would definitely return if wanting to go to the area again x

This was a repeat visit having been a number of times over the last two years. Standards have been maintained with superb and spotless toilets / showers. We took our 2 grandchildren (4 & 8)They love the freedom of this site as it safe for them to play on scooters / bikes and exploire the immediate vicinity. There is a security barrier that only allows residents in so traffic is minimal and drivers are very responsible. The site is covered by CCTV. Each pitch is huge and fully serviced with TV hook up. There is wifi if you want to pay for it. Whilst it is only an hour from home we feel that we are in a different world and find it very relaxing. The owners who live on site are very friendly and helpful. We will be back.

We have just returned from a weekend stay at hillside caravan park, our favourite place to stay for a totally chilled break. We stay here regularly throughout the year as Pat, Chris and family are wonderful people that cant do enough to make your stay a comfortable one. The toilet block is immaculate and regularly checked for cleanliness.
We also enjoyed a lovely walk to the village, along with our dog who also likes to stay here, I think he classes this as his second home as he enjoys a run in surrounding fields. I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a scenic place to totally switch off from weekly routine at home.
