We have just returned from 4 nights and had the most enjoyable time. The site is lovely very well maintained the facilities are spotless. The owners were very understanding when our Boarder terrier escaped from the caravan and went on a 31/2 hour rabbit hunt. I would recommend this site to anyone.

Just returned from our second stay at this fabulous caravan site. We've twice had one of the huge super pitches near the lake. We couldn't fault the site. The toilets are really cosy and very clean. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Great dog walks round the huge cornfields. Rabbits, pheasants, hooting owls at night and grey squirrels. It's very quiet and very relaxing. We've travelled all over the UK and this is by far the best site we've found so far. Hope we might return later this year. The Dog and Gun restaurant is in Knayton village. The food is wonderful. It's difficult to book a table though. It's not open Mondays or Tuesdays. The caravan park is handy for Thirsk, Helmsley, Northallerton and Harrogate. We thoroughly recommend it.

Just had a great week at Hillside, we were on pitch 46 in the new area overlooking the lake. This part of the site is much more spread out and certainly better for adults as its away from the play area. The views were fantastic and the owners were very helpful in sorting pitch allocation when we arrived.
All in all a great site and one we would certainly recommend to anyone.
Outside of the camp the pub in the village is very good but does not open on Mondays or serve food on Tuesday's. We found the old oak tree in south killvington to be really good value and excellent food

This site is most certainly our favourite site we have stayed at up to present. Spacious super pitch with full view of park and play area without been too close to hear noisy kids playing (ours been among them). All quiet from 10pm onwards. Toilet/shower block clean and warm and never had to wait for either in the 10 days we stayed. Access by key only allocated on arrival as was the key to gate into the site. Plenty of dog walks which are clearly explained by a map on arrival. Well worth a visit we will certainly be returning. If I could make a suggestion, just my thought of course, as the pitches are so large could a picnic bench be supplied at each pitch. Just a thought

What a lovely site, and very friendly and efficient owners. Facilities are extremely good, very clean with underfloor heating. Disabled facilities also excellent. There is the added advantage of fully serviced pitches, which are brilliant, with everything in one place on site. Also, there is a good amount of space between caravans, which again, is great. The pub up the road is lovely, with fresh products - delicious. Plenty of room for walking dogs and children to play on the site with a playground for the children to play together. Lovely shops in Thirsk - 4 miles away, with Lidl and Tesco. Visitors also friendly and help each other if needed. A site in the centre of the Dales and Moors, so not far to travel to some beautiful places in Yorkshire. Will definitely go back again soon.

We received an excellent welcome from the owners of Hillside and we were extremely comfortable with our position within the campsite itself. The toilet/shower facilities were spotlessly clean and our fully serviced pitch covered our needs for fresh water, drainage etc. Without any problem whatsoever. We didn't use their coffee lounge, but did pop in and saw a very tidy seating area with magazines and comfortable chairs. The only drawback is that to reach the site you have to travel a mile-long road with passing places, although we had no problem taking our van in and out of the site. We will definitely make a return visit to Hillside in the near future.

Just back from two fantastic weeks at Hillside. Stayed on one of the super pitches overlooking the pond which has to be the biggest pitch we have ever had! The site is beautifully maintained and the staff are really friendly. We were made to feel really welcome on arrival and soon got set up on our pitch. The shower block was clean and, although only two showers in the gents, always plenty of hot water and never had to queue. The location of Hillside is brilliant for exploring North Yorkshire and despite the dreary weather we had a great time. Had a couple of lovely meals at The Old Oak Tree pub at South Kilvington (on the road into Thirsk) and also at The Carpenters Arms in Felixkirk. Overall I have no hesitation giving Hillside 10/10. Will definitely be returning again

Just spent a weekend at this lovely site. Spacious pitches, children's play area and good facilities. Nice walks around the ground and surrounding fields and a leisurely walk into the village of Knayton which is a mile and a half away. Very nice pub restaurant in the village although we hadn't the time to have a meal - this time. Super pitches have the usual electric, water and grey waste but also have tv aerial socket and cassette toilet waste drain. Facilities are very clean as is the whole site. A very nice relaxing weekend.

This is a lovely site, which we've visited a few times now. The setting is beautiful, in the hills at Knayton near Thirsk. Pitches are well-sized and are serviced. There is a clean, modern facilities block with showers & WCs (including a separate area for disabled), well-equipped laundry etc. The new main building also has very good wet room, bathroom and disabled facilities. There is also a children's playground, picnic table, information room.
There are plenty of good pubs around for places to eat out. Worth visiting are Sutton Bank, with spectacular views, lovely walks and a good visitors centre, the White Horse Bank where you can see gliders taking off and the riverside walks in Thirsk are also lovely.
