I was not particularly impressed with this site and we will not be returning. It is only 12 miles from us and so ideal for a last minute weekend away. When I booked I was told we could stay until 4pm on Sunday as they were not busy. Its a large site and very spacious with plenty of room between tents / caravans. The ground was very rough and uneven. We checked in quickly and were told we had to leave by noon on Sunday. I explained we were told that we could stay until 4pm, but she said we had to ask again on Sunday morning and if pitch was not booked, we could stay until 6pm. A huge lake with a couple of swimming areas. A small amount of water sports were available of which I thought the price was a bit steep. The play area was tiny which was a shame as there is so much space there. A large toilet / shower block which was really smelly and unclean. I felt sorry for the people in tents as they were quite a walk away to use the loos! Needless to say we had to leave at noon on the Sunday! Oh, also, we had friends come to visit on the Saturday evening who live 1 mile away and they had to pay £5! Quite unnecessary as there is nothing to do on the site. VERY DISAPPOINTING and I could NOT RECOMMEND.

We have stayed here for 2 years running and are going back for our third this year! It is a lovely open site with plenty of room for groups to pitch together. The children love it as there is a field that they can play in (without any pitches), and the lake is great when the weather is nice for paddling and even swimming for those that don't mind the cold water! We will miss the floating bar this year which is closed for refurbishment. It is a nice little stroll on a sunny day with a fabulous setting on the lake although does get packed out in rainy weather and there are not enough seats inside the rather out-dated interior! The free showers are generally warm although there isn't much room (I'm not looking forward to trying to shower with my 2.5 year old this year!) and it is better to get dressed into shorts as trouser legs get wet on the floor! The facilities are clean and free - always a bonus - and there has always been a freezer for campers to freeze their own ice blocks - again, free. There's plenty to do round and about - fishing, horse riding, bike riding, 10 pin bowling, and some lovely little pubs in the nearby village. The staff have always been very helpful and accommodating and deal with very noisy or unruly campers promptly - including moving them on from the site! The site can be noisy early in the morning with young children which is a bit of a pain but otherwise it is a lovely place to stay - as long as you don't mind rabbit poo!

We have used this site several times, as there are often spaces on it and it is only just off our normal travelling route. The toilets and showers are fine most of the time, and there are plenty of them. The on site shop is always popular and seems to stock everything ! The supermarket in Witney is easy to find too. Ideal for exploring Oxford and the surrounding area. Rural setting with plenty of lakeside walks, but make sure you take some insect repellent for the midges.

A nice welcome. Checking in was smooth and quick. Pitches were of a generous size, plenty of EHUs and stand pipes. We were shown to our pitch which was nice. Overall a good experience. My big gripe though was the showers. Plenty of them and cleaned twice a day no problem, however no place to put your clothes or get undressed! Which meant that you had to go to the shower block with as little clothing on as possible and hang what you did have on, on the peg behind the door. The alternative was to get your apparel soaking wet on the floor! Also no room to swing a cat, which meant you could not take the kids in with you which was a pain as they did not provide a family shower facility! The water had no temp' control and was far too hot for children, (lovely for me though!), so all in all keeping the kids clean was a thoroughly unpleasant experience.
For this reason only, we shall not be returning for a few years yet, until the kids can clean themselves. A shame really as in every other way the site is great and should not deter others from going, just those with young children, (mine are 6 and eighteen months), plenty of older kids there and all appeared to have a good time.

I spent the weekend at Hardwick Parks and even though it was cold and not great weather there were a lot of children / youngsters making a lot of noise early in the morning! I think if you were taking kids or if the weather was good enough for swimming / waterskiing / jetskiing etc. then this place would be perfect but it certainly isn't quiet (unlike a caravan park we found near by which did also take tents!). There are alot of static units, so there will always be alot of people around.
The facilities were fine although the showers were on a fixed temperature (not very warm!) and you had to keep pressing the button when they stopped. The area was beautiful (loads of rabbits running around our field!) and there were some lovely pubs with in about a 10min drive (esp the Trout at Tadpole Bridge).
Supermarkets in Witney were also within 10mins drive away. We enjoyed our stay but would probably only reccomend it to those with kids!

July 2005 Spacious park with several fields. Good mix of camping, caravans and camper vans. We were a group with 4 tents and arrived about 5.30pm (Friday)so we got a good choice of location in the top field. Checking in was quick and smooth. The road was not far away from the top field but traffic isn't bad, so little road noise. Other campers were considerate, we didn't suffer any really late night noise. Plenty of water pipes in the field.
Lots of children and the field was big enough for them to play in without interfering with the tent areas which is good as the childrens play area is very basic, and a good walk away from the camping area (too far for you to want to allow them to go alone, and it's near water) but also the midges and flies early evening are in huge amounts so you wouldn't want to be near there at that time.
Toilets/showers all worked and were kept clean, but it would be useful to have hand-soap provided. Extra points for always having a good supply of loo roll! You also need a couple of 20p coins for hairdryers (provided) or a socket if you bring your own. Shop was open for enough hours per day and had everything you really need. There is also a floating club house, not much seating space though when its busy, but nice to wander to, and there is a little enclosed play area near it, but the toys are mostly broken.
Watersports available, and some swimming areas around the lakes. Kids would enjoy (if they're awake after dark)the massive amount of rabbits that appear in the fields, fun to watch when you do the late night loo run, and they hop around your tent overnight!
Only complaint was us getting a rather rude call from a receptionist wanting to know why we hadn't paid our balance. We only booked a week before we stayed and the person who took the booking told us we could pay the rest when we arrived. This apparently was not put on the system and so I was told we'd be 'let off this time' I was rather put out by her attitude as we'd had it legitimately cleared up front, so I'd advise taking a name when you book if you make any special arrangements.

July 2005 Just returned from Hardwick Park after a mid week visit. Thought the £11.50 a day for basic field expensive and £14.50 also with electric hook up although they were adjacent to toilet, showers and shop where the basic users had a long hike. The ameneties were OK but not special, ladies toilets and showers rather dull, dark and drab but at least 2 hairdryers. Childrens play area a long way from pitches and next to a lake. Several areas closeby were marked no swimming (due to current) so parents would have to keep a close eye on their children. Dog walking off the lead was confined to a short trip around part of the lake then you encountered a road so really leads were needed for rest of journey. The most worrying thing was that the place is over run with lots of rabbits and while I was there I saw several showing classic signs of myxamatosis (sorry for spelling) swollen eyes, blindness, spasm, fitting then usually either a dog got hold of them or a fox and the bodies were left where they were amongst the caravans and tents for at least 24 hours. Horrible. My dogs like many were attracted by the droppings and had "poorly tummies" from the 2nd day. Even now we have returned home they are lethagic. So please campers, be warned if you are taking children or pets right now to that camp site. Personally I wouldnt go again, I departed rapidly on Friday even though I had paid for the weekend when I saw the flood of campers being packed in like sardines with little regard for the required space between units. Shame, staff seemed efficient and helpful in the office and the bin liner was useful, shame the corpses of the rabbits were left around. Feel they will need to address this infection quite soon

July 2005 Just returned from a wonderful weekend, what a wonderful place. Kids LOVED all the exploring and watersports. Adults enjoyed the sunshine, relaxation and peace and quiet. Faciliies excellent. Could do with soap in the toilets though, so take some with you. Otherwise ENJOY!

July 2005 Have just returned from a one night stay at Hardwick Park. When we arrived we were told to go to the nature field and we could go where we liked just to leave a 6 metre gap between the next tent, there were only 2. Nice flat field and plenty of taps. Had a walk round the site and found it peaceful and quiet. Loos and showers clean and loads of them. This was the third site we visited in a week and the only one not to provide soap for the hand basins. By 9pm there were more than 20 other tents, campers etc in our field and by 11pm there were still children playing. At 1am a party of youngsters arrived and it took nearly an hour before the warden came and told them to turn off their music and be quiet. We would not go back here as we like a bit more consideration from other campers.

May 2005 Been to this site twice now and enjoyed both visits. Toilets /showers spotless. Helpfull staff, small shop, a very spacious site with nice level pitches for the tent. Enjoyed the floating bar, take a torch with you if you intend to stay in the bar till late, pitch black. Take a walk to the river, well worth the effort.
