May 2005 Well,we loved this site. It had spacious pitches, the facilities were spotless and plentiful, beautiful walks and watersports on and around the lakes and lots of space for the older kids to ride their bikes and play footy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the shop was well-stocked. We will definately be going back.

October 2004 We visited this site for a relaxing week-end,my husband is a keen fisherman so was looking forward to some fishing while I just wanted to be lazy !
We were greeted at reception by a very formidable lady standing outside with her arms folded and legs astride. We were walked to our pitch, despite holes in the ground which made walking in the awning somewhat precarious, the pitch was ok.
The toilet facilities were clean and adequate. We did not use the showers, preffering our own.
The nicest pitches, overlooking the lake, were taken up by a variety of tourers which, by the weird and wonderful structures attached to some of them, looked fairly permanent.Unfortunately they did make the site look a little ramshackle and unkept.
Despite having posted opening times the shop seemed to open and close at will. You must order your morning paper if required.
On our first evening we decided to visit the advertised bar and restaurant. You are prohibited from driving to the bar and so have to walk approx.1/4 mile along an unlit and very uneven road. The music in the bar was very loud and the only food available was sausage, nuggetts, gammon, scampi and pie - all with chips. We declined though I'm sure kids would love it.
On Saturday morning my husband,a very seasoned fisherman, decided to try his luck. He paid an additional fee of £3.00. He was prohibited from driving to a suitable fishing area on the lake and so had to walk, complete with gear, for about 1/2 mile. He failed to see any sign of fish let alone catch one !
We dined at the Black Horse in Standlake, we both had a two course meal for a total cost of £23, cheaper options were available, the food was a delight, as was the very friendly atmosphere.
On Sunday morning we were woken by a shoot in an adjacent field swiftly followed by hot rod and banger racing - complete with public tanoy system! Add to that the low flying aircraft and you can see why we opted to leave early. It certainly wasn't a relaxing week-end though I'm sure in summer the lake and surrounding area would provide hours of fun for children.
We found a beautiful ,well kept site just about a mile along the road which we look forward to visiting.

September 2004 Wonderful site, great if you like watersports. A1 faclities. My only disappointment was the long secluded walk to the childrens play area which was situated outside the camping field right next to one of the lakes. Certainly not suitable for younger children unless under constant supervision. This site needs a safe play area within the camping fields.

September 2004 What a lovely site plenty of space excellent toilets and showers. Floating club house although a bit of a walk from tourers along a dark uneven road was well worth the walk very friendly reasonable price bar snax lovely views over lake friendly staff. pool table few slot machines. water sports, our teenagers thought the Ringo rides great very reasonable £10 for the 2 of them inc wet suits. We enjoyed our weekend and will visit again.

August 2004 plenty of space to pitch. Did have to queue to use showers, BH week-end. There was no where to hang your clothes when taking a shower. Although they were kept clean. Small shop which sold most things. Kids park was not seen from pitches and it was very close to water. We would go back again,it was a nice site.

August 04 Having just spent six nights at this site I would never recomend this site to anyone with younger children. Although the site was very nice and the toilets/showers were lovely the wardens were not child friendly. When we first arrived we were approached by a perm pitch holder who saw we were about to pitch up next to him and wasnt happy about this and soon told us before we had even got the tent out of the car. We were watched all the time which made us feel very uneasy. We were sitting outside our tent having tea at 9.30pm talking quietly as people do and was told we were beening far too noisy. On a good note the club house people were very friendly and when we went one afternoon for lunch. On arriving our little girl got stung by a wasp (and they was lots and lots of wasps at this site)the bar man came straight out with some cream to ease it and then gave all our children a drink. The lake was lovely but no good for fishing.

September 2003 This is a lovely quiet site set a short drive from Witney. On arrival reception staff were very helpful and pointed out all facilities and walked us to our pitch.
The pitches all seemed flat and there was plenty with hook-up's avaiable. There did appear to be many caravans on site that seemed to be semi-permanent and had not moved all summer, this however did not affect the quality of our stay here.
The toilets/showers/wash up area were all cleaned to very high standard and found no fault with the cleanliness. The showers however were on a push button, non-directional and you couldn't control the temperature.
There is a shop on site selling all the basics you need including toys etc in case you forget to bring something to entertain the younger members of the party. There is a floating bar on site selling Carling Cold, Worthingtons Smoothflow, Guiness and plenty of other Beers, Wines and Spirits. The kids were allowed in the bar and they offered a very reasonable menu, just £2.50 for kids portion of Nuggets and Chips.
Dogs were allowed on site on leads and there are plenty of walks around the lakes. There are a couple of kids play areas on site, but they are both quite a long walk from where we were pitched, so ask if you would like to be close to this.
There is a Sainsbury's supermarket about 5 minutes away in the car and a Tesco Extra a little closer.
Would I return? Yes at £15.50 per night for two adults, 2 kids, electric and a caravan, good value all round.

It turned in to a really wet weekend! The site however has many charming features and the wonderful lakes were a pleasure to sit by when it did clear up.I would say generally if you want a campsite in this location it'll be the best you'll find but I must mention the following:
There are lots of caravans in permenant situ and quite frankly many look tatty and take prime position overlooking the stream.
The club house over looks the lovely lakes and floats. It's such a lovely spot and with loads of trade.
It did have a lovely childrens play area but a long way from the tents.

Having spent a weekend at Harwick Park,I'd like to recommend it to anyone thinking of camping in the area.
Set in 180 acres of woodland and lakes it's a peaceful place with the charming town of Witney nearby.
Pitches are flat and springy. Touring fields are large enough not to feel crowded. Never have to walk very far to get water. Hot water for showers and washing facilities was free. The ladies toilets seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see and they were clean. Good site shop and friendly reception staff.
They even give you a bin liner when you check in. More campsites should do this!
