Good site in a fantastic location, but sadly let down by booking cockup. Pre-booked and paid seven weeks in advance, we asked for a pitch with electric hookup for a motorhome preferably hardstanding, and as close to toilets and shower as possible due to disability.
On arrival our booking could not be found or that we had paid without a lot of searching and cross referencing. Finally the cock-up was revealed that Upwood had booked us in as a TENT. Our pitch was at the farthest point from the toilets and showers by the side of the children's play area.
There is an onsite licensed club house that serves reasonably priced meals, but for us it was too far with my disability. Same goes for the toilets and showers, so I was confined to the facilities in the van. My wife says they are of a reasonable standard, but are showing their age as the plastic covering on the handles in the showers is coming off and showing the rust underneath. Access to both site and the toilets / showers is via and electronic key for which there is a refundable deposit of £10.
Excellent location for Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

We have just come back from this site and had a great time. The site is very clean showers and toilet block are lovely and warm and there are plenty of showers and toilets( 50p was long enough for me and my daughter!)and music to listen to!
My husband was impressed with the bar which had sky sports and a decent pint at a reasonable £2.00.We never ate there but the menu looked good and again was very reasonably priced.
There was a great little playground that we pitched near so we could watch the kids easily. Kids met loads of new friends.
The only down point was the wind but I think we picked a bad weekend as it's windy back at home too.
We'll definitely use again but will try and pick a less windy weekend!

Just come home from a week at Upwood. Great. The staff could not be any more helpful or friendly. They keep the site in tip top condition. There is electric hook ups for some tents, always a bonus! The view is wonderful, the moor is just at the side of the site so you can go walking. There is a small friendly bar which is open at weekends and serves food. There is also the Flappit pub not far away, which serves excellent food at reasonable prices. I have stayed at this site a few times, it is near to home, so friends have visited me there and have since been to stay themselves, always a good sign. I will definitely be going back next year.

Lovely, friendly atmosphere. Very clean toilet and shower block. Nice friendly club house house that also sells nice food with a pool table. A small play area for the kids. There is also a little shop that sells everyday essentials.
The surrounding area is very pretty and is good for walking and bike riding Only a short distance from Halifax and the Bronte country. So plenty to do and if your stuck for ideas the staff and other campers alike are only happy to help with ideas

I have just returned from a one night stay at this site and will definitely be returning! We wanted to try out our new tent and to have a look around before bringing our 8 yr old who has a very low boredom threshold and even in spite of the weather (it poured down late into the night) we had a fantastic time! The pitch we were allocated was like our own private garden, close enough to the immaculate shower/toilet block without being too close and away from the playground but close enough to be able to watch. We didn't't get electric hook-up (our choice) but they were available at a small nightly supplement. The toilet/shower block (separate for male/female) and laundry/dish washing room were immaculate and there was plenty of hot water. Showers are 50p and hairdryer and ironing board are 20p. The food in the club house is excellent. The menu is not extensive but very well cooked and portions are plentiful and the price of drinks is very reasonable (cheaper than our local!) The entertainment was great for a sing-a-long and the people we met there were very friendly. There is a games room for the kids adjoining the bar in the club house and the kids in there seemed to be having a great time. All in all would well recommend. It's a lovely community in the middle of nowhere with fantastic views, helpful and friendly staff and everything you could need for a weekend away from it all and at £13 for the night (one tent, 2 adults, 1 car) fantastic value.

This is one of my 'local' sites. Only 10 mins from home, but when I need to get away for an unplanned weekend, it's perfect! I love the area, the views over the tops are gorgeous, and it's handy for haworth, which is well worth a visit. Facilities are excellent - only downside is the wind sometimes - small price to pay!

Excellent site, well maintained with good ground for pitching. Facilities excellent, very clean with warm showers (50p) and toilets. Small play area for children and great views over the dales. This site is very exposed to the wind as it is situated quite high-up. We seen a mangled, ripped up tent that had been abandoned at the back of the bushes.supposedly it had been uprooted by the wind a week before! The chap who runs the site claimed that 6 tents had actually been blown away! Would definitely go again, just check the weather reports before hand!

Three years ive stayed at upwood for the 40s weekend in may, brill camp, showers and toilets can feel a bit chilly but plenty of hot water and always nice and clean. Basic shop games room and family room where for once the regular weekenders are really friendly and not a bit clique. Massive play park and loads of space for the kids. Low noise can go on a little late twelve-ish (which i like) but not a real problem when ive retired early. Lovely village which is walkable but wait for the bus all the drivers dropped us off near the village even if it wasnt a designated stop, get a taxi back. Down side it can and does get very windy (badly ripped tent last year) the owner has planted a few barriers which next year will provide, hopefully some protection. Camp the same side as the play park for the least wind and peg down well. I will return again and again. Love it

This is a nicely situated site with good facilities. The camping field is flat and the heated shower block is very good and clean. The pub is family friendly with good food and reasonable prices. You can also relax and have a drink whilst you are at ease that the kids are ok right next door in the games room. (Sky sports too for dad!)

Found the site quite easily from the directions given, but beware Halifax must be the speed camera capital of the world ! The only pitch left when we got there was by the playground, which was handy in some ways as I didn't have to look too far for my kids. The only problem is that late at night you get the inconsiderate idiots coming over to sit on the swings talking too loudly - I must have got a reputation for being a grump because of the number of times I had to ask people to keep the noise down, but at 11.30p.m. It's not funny.! The site itself was really nice - well-laid out. The toilet and showers were clean and warm. The dish washing area was clean and had plenty of hot water. I can definitely recommend the steak in the pub - mine was huge! The weather at night wasn't too hot when we went and you're fairly exposed so there's nothing to stop the wind and rain until it hits your tent, but it certainly tests a tent to the limit. I would certainly go again, but pitch further away from the swings!
