If you plan on having a nice relaxed family holiday then this place is ideal. This is our second time we have been this year and we are already planning our next visit. The park is set within amazing scenery and stunning views. We have previously stayed in a family pod for 5 but opted for the mega pod as we were travelling as a family of 3 this time and we have not been disappointed. Onsite you have a play area for children and a grassed area near here where you an play a variety of sports.

The toilet and shower area is kept immaculate as is the rest of the park.

There is a good family feeling when you come and we have even let our daughter venture out on her own as the park is very safe and secure. The park has a small shop on site for any last minute items you may have forgotten. The bar area is by far the best out of all the campsites that we had visited previously. Attached is a play area for a different range of ages of children whether it be the soft play area, pool or air hockey.

There is an adult only pool table and darts board available too. Recently a beer garden has been added and it is a massive boost to the already well laid out bar but gives you the opportunity to sit out and enjoy the glorious West Yorkshire sunshine and as well as the West Yorkshire welcome you get from sitting inside.

I love coming here as does my family and we will definitely be repeat visitors. Well done Upwood and keep up the amazing work that you already do. A true credit to the campsite holiday.

Lovely setting, friendly atmosphere, really really enjoyed my stay, and would love to try the pods next time, they look fun, the upkeep and surrounds are kept so well.

Lovely places round it too, so ideal place to stay. Do not have one complaint, definitely be visiting regular.

We have just spent five nights here as a base for visiting family in the surrounding area. The weather was atrocious, very wet and windy for the entire stay and a covering of snow when we left. As a result we got stuck in the mud on departure but were quickly helped out by a lovely man and his tractor. In fact, all the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

The facilities were very good, shower blocks were always clean and tidy and at this time of year were very quiet. I'm not sure that the timed showers are a good economical move though. I was worried I was going to get caught out covered in soap and shampoo after reading some previous reviews but in fact was usually dried and dressed before it stopped running. Very wasteful! Also as previously mentioned the single key fob was a nuisance, a keypad would have been better but hardly necessary given the site location.

Had we had better weather I'm sure we would have enjoyed the walks around the site, we only ventured out on foot once and walked down the hill to Haworth. A taxi back cost five pounds. We also used a taxi from Queensbury back to the site on one evening which cost eleven pounds. The weekend entertainment in the bar was enjoyable and dogs are allowed in the back room.

All in all, we had a lovely stay spoiled only by the weather.

We recently went to Upwood Holiday Park for the May bank holiday weekend and have mixed feelings.

Firstly the bad.

1. We were frustrated by the site locating the tent pitches (and their rented pots) furthest away from the toilet/shower blocks! They instead located all the touring caravans around them even though most modern tourers have their own facilities. This just made no sense.

2. The tent plot we were given was overlooking the moors. Lovely view but no protection from the wind so it was very worrying. I imagine that tourers would be better suited to be put there instead and the tents closer to the middle of the site (where the loos are).

3. Toilets/showers are clean but 50p per 3 mins of shower is ridiculous. Especially since you can't pause it.

4. On the Friday we went to the bar for tea (within their advertised opening times). Apparently they had been busy so the chief had a backlog meaning there was over an hour's wait. We didn't mind but they really didn't seem to want to take our order. The food was good.

On the Sunday we went for food (again within their advertised opening times). We sat down and ordered drinks while looking at the menu, which was on the table. We then went to the bar to order but they refused to take our order because the chief wanted to finish early. Not impressed because our kids were starving. The site is in the middle of nowhere and we couldn't drive anywhere due to having a drink. We complained that they should have announced that the kitchen was shutting early and taken the menus off the table.

Now the good.

1. The DJ on Sunday was great and catered for all. Karaoke to the early hours with a fun atmosphere.

2. Everything was very clean.

3. Kids loved the play area and games room.

Would we go back? Not sure to be honest. The way we were treated by the chief really left a bad taste in our mouths (pardon the pun).

This is a very clean and well-maintained site and every member of staff whom we encountered was very pleasant and friendly.

The facilities cannot be faulted, although why it is necessary to use a fob to gain access to the toilet blocks is a mystery. Nobody is going to wander up onto the moors on the off-chance that they could use the facilities without paying. One fob per pitch - with a ten pound deposit - results in potential for various problems: Lose it and lose ten quid. Someone in your party goes to the loo and you want to go shortly afterwards? Tough. You'll just have to wait.

A snippet of advice. If you are in a tent, be aware that it can get extremely windy up here (gusting Force 9 during our stay) so pitch your tent with its back to the prevailing wind. If you can get the back facing about south-west, you should be fine. Related: If you use an awning, arrange it so that it is in the lee of your vehicle.

The food in the club-house is excellent and the portions are enormous. It is a real challenge to clear your plate. The menu selection is a bit sparse, though.

This is a good-value site. A little regimented for some tastes (mine included) and it sometimes felt that we were in a vast display of caravans.

We have just returned from this lovely site. The pitches are very spacious, the site very well cared for and the toilet/shower block lovely and clean. There is a club house on site that serves meals, which looked lovely, although we didn't use it. The weather, unfortunately wasn't on our side this weekend but it didn't spoil our stay.

We got a taxi into Haworth on Saturday evening which cost £4. 00, a bargain, There are ample pubs to choose from, most serving meals. Sunday we decided to walk into the village, which took us about half hour, all downhill until the last 200 yards which was a bit of a pull. The village is lovely, even in the rain. We visited the Bronte Parsonage which we found very interesting.

Overall we had a lovely time, the views are amazing. We will certainly recommend this site and we will be back next year.

Beautiful views looking across the Worth Valley. Friendly management and well laid out. Only negative - showers need refurbishment. Half an hour's walk into Haworth and plenty of taxis to drop you back; they'll even take dogs.

Pubs are great; Timothy Taylor beers and the local Bridgehouse Brewery served in some of the pubs were superb (try the cherry choc stout; lovely). Have a walk into Oxenhope and try the Bay Horse Inn; great beers and the filled Yorkshire puds are the best.

Fantastic campsite, great facilities, fabulous location, super for families

Had a great 4 nights here, with 2 families in tourers. The campsite was good enough to rearrange the pitch allocation to accommodate us together.

Location:

The approach road to the site is a little narrow but there are passing points along the way.

Stunning views over the valley and surrounding countryside. Ideally located a mile or so outside of Haworth, and close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Pitches:

Spacious and flat and accommodated our large twin axle and awning with plenty of room for the car. Ample spaces between pitches. Needed rock pegs for the awning on the hardstanding. 16a electric and no issues with tripping. Water tap conveniently placed.

Facilities:

Security - Access to the touring park is controlled by a barrier, operated by key fob (refundable deposit of £10). The key fob also controls access to the toilets/shower block. That's OK but is a bit of a pain just having the one fob, so it may be worth checking if you can hire another fob.

Showers/loos - The shower block/toilets are modern and very clean. Ample loos, 4 x showers & separate private sink cubicles (nice touch). Showers are 50p coin, so make sure you have change. I found I needed 2 x 50p coins for a more leisurely shower. The shower heads are lovely large waterfall showers, but be warned, they can be a little hot (too hot for children I found) with no way of changing the temperature. Also, a shower curtain or door would be nice.

Amenities - fantastic outdoor play area, with great, modern safe equipment and rubberised artificial grass surface. The kids loved it! A brilliant dog walk area with open fields and spectacular views. By reception, there is a fantastic indoor soft play area/arcade/pool table (useful for wet days). It's next to the bar/restaurant, which is also useful! Nice bar and the food looked good, although we only bought a few portions of chips to take out (not cheap at nearly £3 but you do get a large portion). The full breakfast looked huge and yummy!

Overall, a fantastic site and reasonably priced, making it great value. It's nice to see a holiday park not being greedy with loads of add-ons. Staff were friendly and the site kept neat & tidy. Fully recommended and we'll definitely return.

We borrowed a friends campervan and was going to have one night at Upwood but within 30 mins of arriving we asked for another night as we were so impressed with the location, cleanliness, bar, food and service. There was a bus stop at the end of the road but was in formed by a member off staff it was actually cheaper to get a taxi that was happy to accommodate our small dog and gave us a card for them. I found the toilet block to be very clean and the 50p shower fab although you don't get a warning to say it is about to stop, I was fine but my husband got caught a little soapy haha. Everywhere was clean and tidy and we would definitely go back again.

A fairly busy site, we ended up a bit too close to another unit for my liking, but that was mainly due to our awning being 6m x 3m and needing to be on grass. Would have been better on some of the other pitches with more grass space but we were only there for the weekend so it wasn't too bad. If we were there any longer I would have had to request that we move pitches.

The facilities were OK, clean as you would expect. 50p to use the showers though, and it takes more than one go if you want a proper shower!

Decent playpark for the kids, but no real space next to your pitch if you want to keep them close by. Turn your back for 10 seconds and they've disappeared from view!

The bar was OK, reasonable food, plenty of it at least.

Bit of a con on the 'local ale' I had a pint of this as I love trying the different brews, when I asked where this was brewed the bar lady said she didn't know. I later found out that it was Tetleys Cask. I would never pay for that beer as I don't like the mass produced stuff so do feel a bit cheated by this.

Overall, a good little site, possibly better when not as busy with more room.
