We went during half term week. Phoned up the day before and was told we could pitch at anytime from 08:30. On arrival found the site was nowhere near full so picked a nice spot in the field above the toilet blocks.
Overall the site was quiet after 23:00. The bar was reasonable and the entertainment was OK and the kids enjoyed it. On Monday the site really emptied and the site was really quiet which meant no queues for the showers. The toilet/shower blocks as previously mentioned were kept really clean but could do with some modernisation.

The good points about this site are the fact that the pitches(except EHU's) are not marked so you can fit tents in with no space issues, and the fact that it hasn't been set up to take money off you continually (like Havens). PS I noticed that the water tank in the top field can be quite noisy so avoid pitching near it if you can. Also if you find a nice boomerang in the bushes can I have it back! :-)

Visited the site a number of times over the last couple of years. Always had a great time, children love the site. Would recommend this site, however the only thing that lets it down is the state of the toilet and showers. They are in need of modernisation, and have been since I first visited the site. BUT they are always kept very clean.
Overall a very nice site and very reasonably priced.

We have visited this site for approx 24 years now and love it! There is plenty of space for children to run, lively entertainment and an outdoor pool. The children's play facilities have been updated and are great. The shower facilities do need updating but are adequate. I spoke to the owner about this and apparently one of the blocks will be replaced soon. Weymouth is approx 10 mins drive. A really great site in a lovely location. We will be back next summer!

Visted this site in the middle of August and found the site to be very crowded but the site was kept very clean and tidy. The only downfall of this site is there are not enough showers /toilets for the number of people on the site.
The entertainment was very good as all the children seemed to enjoy very much every night.

Just got back from a few days here. Nicely laid out, clean camp site away from main roads. Can camp anywhere you wish in one of the paddocks, EHU are in designated paddocks which tend to be nearer to the toilet / shower block. Some paddocks are dog free zones but all dogs have to be kept on leads, which they were.
There is a heated outdoor swimming pool, two play areas and a large field for ball games etc. On site shop seems to sell most things and the Barn next door does breakfasts and doubles up for the evening entertainment (can be a bit loud) which finishes at 11p.m. Residents are asked to observe the no noise after this time, most did but you always get the odd few.
The toilet and shower blocks were clean although there were only 3 showers in the ladies, I guess the gents is the same, so a queue did tend to form and they could do with updating but not a problem. Didn't notice a disabled toilet or shower, but not to say there isn't one I just might not have seen it.

Surrounding area has lots to go and see/do. We were only there for 3 days and we packed loads in. Everyone is very friendly. Weymouth has a free firework display every monday in the summer from a barge off the beach which is very popular, just don't get confused in the one way system, it is quite extensive.

So, would I go back? Definately.

This was our first family camping trip. This was one of only a few sites that accepted bookings of only a couple of nights, which appealed to us as it was our first trip. Our two children aged 2 and 5 had a great time. The campsite was wonderful, very quiet. We did not need a electric hook up but there were plenty available. The swimming pool was well used, and the play areas well maintained. The shower blocks could do with some updating but I would definitely use this site again.

Really lovely site, layed out in paddocks with rows of trees and fences seperating them.On arriving were told
Set up where we wanted, only not in the 2 fields that were for electric hook up, these being next to the shower / loo block may have been a bit noisy anyway!
The showers were fine, could have been a couple more, got a bit busy from 8.00am. Plenty of hot water, loo roll always full, clean and tidy!
The barn club house always seemed to be full, they do food if you don't fancy cooking,it was very lively in the evening, the entertainement was great. Nice and quite from 11.00pm.
Outdoor pool and new childrens play area were always in use, lots of room to fly kites and play football!
Nipper bus service comes on to the site, very useful for getting into Weymouth (about a 15-20 min journey) ,a lot cheaper than car parking.
Shop on site selling most stuff you may need from pot noodles to tent pegs!
All in all a lovely friendly family site. Wendy C

The site is very clean. The staff can not do enough for you. The owners have always stopped and talked to us. We found this site by accident and have been coming back for the last 4 years. It is in a nice quiet location and the club finishes at 11 so there is not to much noise when the customers leave. I have to agree that the toilets need to be updated although they are clean and fully serviceable. It is only about 10 minutes in to Weymouth & there is a regular bus service as well.

I had planned to stay the weekend at a site near Golden Cap but without going into details found the site inadequate. I decided to work my way eastward along the coast visiting all the sites as far as Portland but found most of them fully booked or far too expensive for one person.

Almost as a last resort before returning home I followed an unnamed camp site sign and found myself at West Fleet and to my surprise on entering the site I was immediately impressed by the clean, well mown grounds, sectioned by hedgerows and a feeling of spaciousness with, apparently, many unoccupied pitches to choose from. I was further impressed when I spotted a lovely swimming pool, and even more impressed when I spotted a sign outside the Barn Club bar and restaurant suggesting entertainment that evening - and all this for £10 a night as a single person in a 4 man tent. The only thing this site did not have which another site further along the road wanted £28 a night for - was immediate access to a beach!

I was a little less impressed with the standard of the toilet blocks which as previous reviews suggest could do with a little updating, but they were reasonably clean with immediate very hot water and a not quite so immediate toilet flushing system, but a little pumping on the handle seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately they used the regulation ultra narrow ribbon width toilet paper which doesn't seem to have many perforations per yard - but you can't have it all ways.

I was able to pitch a comfortable two minutes walk from the facilities and on the lee side of a hedge - which proved invaluable during the stormy night that lay ahead.

There was a huge play field for the kids and masses of grassy areas for them to play and to my great delight they seemed to use these areas and stayed away from the tents.

Drinks were a little on the expensive side but the food was excellent if a little basic - nice chips though and a very welcome breakfast served at a civilised time of between 0830-1100.

This is the type of site I prefer - a bar, restaurant, shop, and good entertainment if you require it but with sufficient space to get far enough away to enjoy some privacy and peace. Pitches are huge, flat, and unmarked (unless you require an electric hook-up). Choose your space, stay 20 feet away from your neighbour, spread out and relax (which makes me wonder why somebody always has to trip over your guy ropes!!)

A little improvement in the bathroom department and this will be a top class site...but perhaps they would then wish to charge top class fees!

We have visited this campsite almost every year since 1990, when I was pregnant with my now 14-year old son! We absolutely love it, and it has got better and better as the years have gone by. We are hoping to go back for a few days in the middle of August this year.

The kids love the swimming pool, the adults enjoy the bar, and everybody enjoys the evening entertainment. The toilet blocks are fairly clean and well equipped, and there is always plenty of hot water for washing up. The shop is adequate for basic needs, and keeps the kids happy with sweets and icecream! There is a small laundry with ironing boards and irons, public telephone box and a children's play area. We like that you can park your car right next to your tent. And it is normally fine to just turn up and book in, it has so much room there is normally a spot to settle somewhere. But the owners of the site DO recommend booking in advance, to guarantee a place.

Nearby Weymouth is lovely, with its beautiful beach, sandy at one end, and shingle at the other. All the usual seaside attractions, and the town centre and restaurants right near the seafront. Lots and lots of beautiful countryside, and some gorgeous country pubs if you venture down the lanes! Dorset is a beautiful county, and we never, ever tire of it. And we ALWAYS stay at West Fleet. Great.
