Three families, one in camper van, all booked into EHU, mostly sunny weekend in half-term.
Really enjoyed it. Clean loos, friendly staff, kids adored pool, lots of space to play and explore. Left smiling.
Children have large (5 acre?) field near reception with play equipment and space- that was appreciated.
Only quibble was the speed of the traffic. We were on pitch 165 near entrance. Even with our kids visibly playing next to tents, we had some cars go past at ridiculous speeds. The very few speed bumps (pimples) were designed for Morris Minors, not today's 4x4s. That is something that certainly could be improved.

We had never been before but after just half hour of arriving we just fell in love with the place, best campsite ever. The shop was always full, staff are very friendly and helpful and other campers were friendly too. Kids had loads fun. The policy of peace after 11pm we thought would be as normal a load of rubbish, but to our surprise 11 pm hit and the site went peaceful. Would recommend this site to everyone. Showers and toilets super clean.

We stayed week before May Bank Holiday and over the weekend too, so we saw it transform from an eerily quiet and vast empty site to one that was extremely busy - with (non EHU) campers crowding in on each other in the main fields.
The previous reviewer claims there isn't much to do around here which made my jaw drop. We travelled all the way from Chester to Dorset in order to enjoy the vast array of things to see in Dorset. We were gutted that we didn't have more time to see everything. However, though we would definitely visit the area again, we are not sure we would use this site.
POSITIVES:
The main attraction for us was the heated open air pool. Surprisingly, hardly anyone was using it even when the campsite was packed, probably because the weather was mixed. However, it was gorgeously warm in the water whatever the weather.
The site is also a short walk away from the most amazing unique feature of our British coastline - Chesil Bank. We enjoyed a walk down to the lagoon and saw a deer.
We can strongly recommend 'The Lugger Arms' in nearest village Chickerell (which has a Spar). We ate here with our young children and were treated wonderfully by the friendly staff. The food was something special.
Overall we had an enjoyable time here because there were so many families and children for our son to play with and generally, a very friendly sociable atmosphere. Yet I do have some criticisms:
The children's play area seemed a long way away from the rest of the campsite, and was not very good. Swings had been taken down from the metal stands leaving what kids thought were monkey bars! There was one netted ring swing which all the children had to compete for to use, and a slide which had only a rope ladder approach, so was completely useless for toddlers. The other 'adventure playground' pieces looked dubious to me and I noticed that the children must have thought so too because they were not using them.
The pool is only open 'by request' at any time other than high season, and the bar was completely closed when we arrived.
The toilet/shower blocks vary greatly in quality. There is a brand new one in the middle of the second field, which is very well equipped, but not enough to cope with the bank holiday crowds, so the other smaller older blocks are opened up. One of them is near the shop and probably ignored by most campers because it is too far away from anyone, while the other one is in poor condition. Most of the toilet cubicles in the Ladies had broken locks or missing seats, and there were cracked mirrors over the sink units. If you can't be bothered to queue for the new block, then the showers here had no queues at all.
There were even queues for the washing up sinks.
The new block has family bathrooms, which on the face of it is a fantastic feature. However, these rooms get locked up at six. This is ridiculously early in the day for any family on holiday. We missed the chance to use it for three days on the run because we were out and about off site during the day and did not return in time, and our kids usually bath at seven. Such a shame to have a great feature like this and it not be useful.
Why were there so many EHU pitches around the site not being used, while all the rest of the campers were crowded on top of each other in the 'free for all' fields? If you are planning to camp here at busy times, it might be worth paying an extra few quid to get a proper pitch in the bigger fields around the back of the site.
Pool aside, I think there are plenty of other sites along the Dorset coast that have more to offer in terms of location, price and facilities.

This is a nice site. Friendly staff, spacious pitches, no overcrowding even though this was bank holiday weekend.
We were placed in the field nearest to the bar and if visiting again would request a pitch in another field as it was a little noisy in the evening for small children to sleep, that said the music stopped at 10:30 sharp and silence descended before 11:00.
The entertainment was quite good and our kids really liked the 'Magical Mayhem' duo of kids entertainers. Our pitch was near the shop and the pool which was very well used and in excellent condition albeit a touch chilly at first!
If you don't enjoy the sound of children having fun then do ask for a pitch away from this area because there were kids in the water all day long regardless of the weather and the squealing does carry, the pool has a tall gate which cannot be opened by little ones as long as it has been closed by the last person through and this is securely padlocked once the pool is closed in the evening.
The old shower block by the shop is functional but very dated, if you want a little more luxury though the new block is very nice and only a 1 min walk across the neighbouring field.
Shop is well stocked but a bit pricey for stuff like tins.
Bar prices are what you would expect really £3.30 a pint, although soft drinks at just £1 are decent value. The bar meals are basic but well cooked and tasty and the kitchen coped admirably on the very busy first night that we were there.
There is a very nice walk from the back of the site through cornfields and along the coast for a couple of miles, with the reward of 'The Elm Tree Inn' at the other end, however when we arrived at the pub we were informed by a very terse member of staff that they were almost closing and we could only sit outside, which was not a problem but we were made to feel like a nuisance for being there, not exactly the warm welcome that the sign for the Inn promises.
In the local area we visited the Dinosaur Museum which involved a 30min queue in the rain and over £20 for a family ticket for what was frankly a disappointing attraction.
The Sea Life Park is pretty good especially on a warm day as kids can make the most of the outdoor splash zone, remember swimming costumes and towels or you will end up buying them there.
Studland beach is worth the hour drive on a sunny day as it and the view across to Sandbanks are absolutely stunning, parking is free if you are National Trust member.
Overall this is a nice site with decent facilities and a relaxed atmosphere where we felt happy to let our youngsters explore by themselves, recommended.

Place was nice and tidy nice grass unlike other places having worn out over used pitches. Food over priced, over cooked, I asked for drinks before meal, while eating meal and finally got them 15 minutes after finishing the meal. Park is pretty good kids had fun, could do with swings being fixed as they're missing. Went in outdoor swimming pool which I really enjoyed, kids lasted 10 minutes though as they're 2 and 4, so was too cold for them. I was warm once in there, would advise goggles as chlorine is strong. The shop has plenty in but be aware of some prices as there high. Pitch was good and new toilet/shower building clean and tidy.

Well, mmm, I'm not sure. This campsite was definitely below the standards of the other campsites we had stayed on but that said I'm not sure it was all that bad.
The campsite was very empty when we stayed and the owner was very helpful and allowed us to wander the site and basically choose a pitch that we would like, to which we decided to choose a very sheltered spot in a empty field which was just as well as the weather wasn't great and it was very windy.
The pitch was very level and nice and spacious, the shop stocked plenty of essentials and other things which I think were normal, reasonable prices. The site looked like it had a lovely pool and there was a sweet little bar which I think in high season could have been a real asset.
The site looked very basic however and gave the appearance more of a field than a campsite, there wasn't really any layout to the site, no roadways between pitches to drive along (you had to drive across the grass) no lights to guide the way in the dark, no flowers or borders just grass and field.
The new toilet block appeared comfortable at first although as the weekend went on it became very dirty and messy with the same toothpaste smeared across the toilet floor from sat evening through till Sunday tea time! (not what we expect) I believe the cleaners on this site clean the other two sister sites as well which may be why they were not kept clean and up to the usual standard we expect.
The new toilet/shower block contained about 5 showers and I get the funny feeling that on a full site this will not be anywhere near adequate! The old toilet/shower blocks are open and can be used but these take you right back to 1980s camping, they are not good and had they been the only facilities on site we would have left.
Overall I think this site is very much personal choice as to what you expect from a campsite and also I think that the owners may be trying their best to bring it up to date. I would personally say give it a chance and see what you think. There is a lot of potential here and the owners could really make a good go of this site if they try, I just hope that trying to manage three sites doesn't cut down on the standard they can provide.

Spent May bank holiday here.
Plus points; new shower block, new pool, useful shop, bar / food / entertainment, lots of space, small play area, polite & helpful staff, no rowdiness (whilst we were there).
Minus points; somewhat windswept, narrow access, pricey bar, small club 'barn', 10 min drive to supermarket.
Not a heck of a lot in the area for attractions, but good scenery (sea life park is a rip off in my opinion and the activities around it are for younger children).
Nice but not on my visit again list.

Me and girlfriend stayed for two nights for a spontaneous weekend. I'm going to find it very difficult to put this site down though :)
I'll start with the outdoor pool which was very clean and probably one of the warmest outdoor pools I've ever been in. We swan early to avoid the rush in daytime but it didn't ever seem to get packed, probably because of the decent size.
Onto the shower/toilet block. I think it may be fairly new but was of a good size very clean and plenty of showers/ toilets and even a free hairdrier! Never had to wait to use any of these.
We chose our pitch on arrival and was flat and of bouncy seamless green grass which drained well after a night of rain.
Overall an easy to find clean friendly site with a bar, pool, loads of room in-between pitches and excellent clean facilities. Very happy, will definitely return :)

Mist and 25mph winds, good start to a camping hol, easy to find, no one at shop but a note on window saying pitch anywhere see you later, large site I'm sure I saw a pitch card saying 200, when we got there we saw two van's and a trailer tent, nice ground didn't need a mallet, pool was warm, and the toilet/shower block was what all sites should aspire to, the barn had shut for the season but there was a pub 10 mins walk away, we asked if we could use the barn to sit out as it was going to rain, no prob's, there are hedges and wall's to hide behind from the wind, not soggy after night of rain, very friendly and helpful just popped on to internet when we asked if she had any idea of the weather, will be using it again with some sun this time I hope

We usually camp at East Fleet (and have checked out West Fleet whilst staying there) but a friend recommended here and having read the previous reviews, we decided to book in for a week. I really wanted to like the site but unfortunately didn't, although the rest of my family did. I think if you don't mind sites being busy then this would be ok.
West Fleet is one of the furthest out of Weymouth and is accessed down a lane unsuitable for caravans. It has a 5mph limit but this didn't appear to be observed.
To me it was heaving and caotic - those without EHU were told to pitch in the designated fields but it was very haphazard and everyone seemed to be on top of one another. We'd been advised to request a sheltered position and were sited on the paddock which had decent pitch sizes. This area had several large fields and units only pitched around the outer edges. We had an end pitch and being in the thoroughfair we constantly had children tripping over our guideropes as they cut the corners. We did put up a windbreak to eliviate this but they walked our side of it!
The new shower block was nice and clean but always busy. There was even a queue for the showers at 10pm. They had 2 family bathrooms with bath and shower which were always clean. They do state they can be used by non-families for a maximum of 10 minutes but that's not long enough for a soak in the bath for some individuals. Next door and at other locations throughout the site there are the older blocks which were virtually empty and you could always guarantee a free shower. They were functional but in need of a refurb.
We visited the on-site pub which had decent entertainment every night. The farm breeds cattle which they serve on their menu. They do state that meals are cooked to order and may take a while during busy periods but we waited well over an hour. When the adult meals finally came they said there was a problem with the children's meals which arrived at gone 10pm.
There is a large playing field with playpark and horses in the fields surrounding it. There is also a playpark at the pub. While we were there they had bouncy castles and slides which were popular. Many families played games around the centre of the fields in the paddocks so there were many times we had to retrieve someones ball from inside our tent. Our children only used the swimming pool once but would have used it more if we had stayed around the site more often.
Both the family shower rooms and swimming pool had notices saying they closed at 6pm but they stayed open beyond this time. There were also warning notices about how a family had been evicted due to rowdy behaviour, showing the owners do not tolerate things like that.
Weymouth is as fantastic as ever although they are preparing for hosting the sailing events in the 2012 olympics so there is a lot of construction and infrastructure going on. We were lucky enough to be there for their Festival day - there were parachutists, wing walkers, WW2 plane flyby's, air sea rescue and the Red Arrows. There were also numerous events on the beach and sea front - Alvin Stardust headlined at 4pm on the beach stage! It was all topped off with a firework display out to sea. A definite must-see.
Also enjoyed the Park-and Ride steam train from Norton to Swanage via Corfe Castle.
