We were very impressed with this site and would visit again next year. The shower and wash facilities were very clean and in good condition. The play area was set in a very large area, large for kids to play football etc. Away from the tents.
The swimming pool was clean and in good condition but no lifeguards. The 'Bar in the Barn' was exactly as it says and some evenings it was a tad on the chilly side being in a barn.
Entertainment wasn't bad either but mostly for the kids, especially after a couple of pints of Piddle. 22:30 sharp music stopped and by 23:00 the site was quiet. The surrounding area is very nice with lots to see and do.
If using sat nav to find this place it'll try and take you through another campsite up the road called Bagwells. When you come out of there turn right, turn right at mini roundabout and follow road till you see the sign for West Fleet which will take you right again.

Another great week at west fleet. Although the weather was not kind, the park as always was very clean.
Due to the rain and mud, the toilet and shower facilities were cleaned on a regular basis. Some of the pitches were on a slope, so quite hard to get the t. Tent level, and some seemed to get caught by the wind more than others.
Kids (aged 8 &4) enjoyed the evening entertainment. Takes approx 5 mins to get to Weymouth. Always good to try to go during Weymouth carnival.
The staff were always helpful and they always helped. Food in he bar looked good, although a little expensive although we did not try the food. The beef was produced from there own heard of cows.
Will recommend and would us again.

Just returned from 5 days at West Fleet campsite, very nice site, went with grand children and they loved it, plenty of room to run around.
We had ehu and the space was large but the non ehu areas were very crowded.
The site was completely full, we were in Paddock D which was furthest away from the showers and toilets and for the number of campers these were totally inadequate, always had to queue for at least 10 mins.
It was quite a walk especially in the rain in the middle of the night! Site could do with a couple more blocks of showers and toilets in other fields.
The grounds were well kept. Other than the shower/toilet situation the site was overall good.

Facilities on this site were good. The children really enjoyed the play area and the swimming pool - which seemed well maintained and the pool area was always clean.
There are no lifeguards, but regular reminders of the rules - which is needed as it always seemed to be full of unattended children.
We were a little close to the Bar in the Barn and it was very noisy at night until 10. 30 - probably wouldn't be on the other fields. If I went back there I would definitely request the furthest pitch from that. That part of the site just wasn't for me, but it looked like there were plenty of people enjoying it. Food was quite expensive, but quick and very tasty. Site Shop was definitely well stocked with lots of useful stuff and decent food (but it shuts at 8).
The site is in a really good position. Just out of the bustle of Weymouth and at a mid point for many of the attractions.
The toilet facilities are excellent. The usual queueing - in the new block even at off peak times. But to be honest the old blocks aren't at all bad, I just used those with no issues. Always clean.
Staff are efficient and make the rules of the site clear. I've no doubt they would act on any loud campers or anyone breaking the rules!
All in all a decent site in a great position.

2nd Visit to West Fleet and it wont be the last
The site was busy but never felt overcrowded-we were in Paddock D which we requested and was well spaced
The facilities are great and you learn when to time your showers as they do get busy but you would expect that in the middle of the school holidays
The is a huge field for the kids to play in with a huge blow up bouncy castle in peak season which you pay £5 for the whole night which I think is decent value to keep the kids happy for a couple of hours while you have a drink in the Big barn bar
The pool has been upgraded this year and although small its nice to have a dip when the weather is hot
There is loads of places near by, Weymouth, Portland, Bridport so you have plenty of choice
Wont be going next August as the Olympics in Weymouth mean it will be packed but may try and get a long Bank holiday break in here

Me and my partner have just got back from a lovely week in Weymouth. We had an EHU tent pitch which was large and flat.
There was two toilet blocks next to each other in the middle of the campsite, one is brand new and the other one a lot older, but both were always clean and always had loo roll.
The shop was well stocked had everything needed. The bar in the barn served a very nice breakfast. We did not go in at night but from our tent we could her the entertainment and it sounded good and come 10pm the music stopped.
We never used the swimming pool as it was always full of children. The playground looked good for children, and they also had bouncy castles.
There is a nice walk from west fleet through sea barn down to the lagoon. This campsite is perfect if you have children, as there is lots for them to do.

Family of five, stayed here for 10 nights in August in our new tent, which stood up well to the wind and rain! It's quite a big site, which we knew when we booked, larger than we'd normally consider visiting, but it was a late booking and we were just pleased to get a pitch at a site with a decent reputation.
Given the size of the site, and the fact that we were there during peak season, I have to say I'm pretty impressed at how well the place is run. We expected plenty of noise at night - we didn't really get any.
Very late one evening I was walking to the toilet block and passed a large tent in the middle of a field, whose occupants were playing an iPod quite loudly. We found out the following day that they'd been 'yellow carded' by the owners, who appear to take such matters seriously.
We expected older kids to be dive-bombing into the swimming pool - well, they were on one occasion, until the owner came along and told them in no uncertain terms that they'd be barred from the pool if they carried on doing it.
We expected massive queues for showers, toilets and washing facilities - I think I queued for a shower once, although we tried to use those facilities outside peak times. Yes, they could do with a few more showers, toilets, etc, but we found that with a bit of forward-planning, we could avoid the worst of the queues.
As has already been mentioned, there is a new facilities block and an old one. The new block is fine, push-button showers are irritating, but they were free at least. I wouldn't fancy taking a shower in the old block, they looked a bit run-down and, as a result, were hardly used, even in August.
The toilets in the old block were adequate. The sinks for washing up in the old block are exposed to the elements, unlike those in the new block which are under cover, but when it was dry I actually preferred to use the old ones, as they had double draining-boards per sink, so it was less crowded. Watch the hot taps though, they're really hot! Even holding the hot tap down to get the water out can burn your hand.
The shop wasn't badly priced, compared to similar shops at other sites. Not huge, but well-stocked with all the food and camping essentials you might need. The kids enjoyed the pool. The weather wasn't great so, again, the pool may be a bit on the small side if the sun is shining and everyone wants to use it.
Others have commented on the crowded non-EHU fields, and I can vouch for this, but only for a day or two at a time. We arrived on a Friday and left on a Monday, so I observed the flow of traffic in and out of the site for two weekends.
It is a bit of a free-for-all for non-EHU pitches, and we were lucky with the pitch we got, but some fields got very crowded in the middle, during the weekends when new arrivals are turning up before leavers had actually departed. So, Sundays seemed to be incredibly busy, but by the Monday, spaces started to appear again. Not sure what I can recommend here, it's pot luck really!
That said, we were pleased to be where we were, at the far end of field C, nice and quiet, even though we were only a two-minute walk from the shop, pool and bar at the other end of the site. The EHU pitches in field A, which is nearest to the facilities, seemed fairly cramped, and too close to the noise and passing traffic for our liking.
Oh, the bar! It's fine, prices probably a little above average, the peak-season entertainment is OK, nothing special, but if you want to get a table between, say, 7. 30 and 9. 30pm then forget it (this was August, remember). Arrive early if you want a table.
In summary, whilst this site was just a bit too large for our liking, my overriding impression is of owners who seem to have got the balance right between allowing people the freedom to enjoy themselves, and clamping down on disrespectful behaviour as and when required.
It's in a good location, not too far from Weymouth and Dorchester, with some pleasant villages nearby, and there's enough space and facilities on-site to keep people happy. I'd be happy to recommend the site to friends. We had a great time.

Small alarm bells were ringing as soon as we arrived and found that the booking-in staff couldn’t find our payment receipt. After a half hour wait, and receipt still not found, we paid the rest of the money we owed and were allocated a pitch.
We set up camp and then our daughter wanted to go for a swim in the pool. This was one of the main reasons we chose West Fleet. Our daughter loves to swim. The pool is supposed to be monitored by the parents, but many of the children were left to do as they pleased – bomb, dive and play ball games. All of these activities are against the pool rules. My daughter was put off going swimming again by two boys spitting water about the showers and into the pool, regardless of other users and to the amusement of their parents.
We must say that we were given a very nice pitch with EHU. It was in a good sheltered spot behind a large hedge. But it wasn’t until a little later, when other families started to pitch up around us that things turned. The young boys were playing with their football and cricket games, and we were in direct line of every ball hit. They ran into our tent and surroundings to retrieve their balls without any permission or manners what-so-ever.
The pitches seemed to be a little claustrophobic in the non-EHU areas. The camp was kept to a high standard of cleanliness. The shower/toilet block was also spotlessly clean, but due to its limited size, queuing was inevitable in both the ladies and the gents. The large, extensive, playing area was good. There are climbing frames and giant inflatables (evening times only). The bar, restaurant, games room and entertainment barn was nice to visit, and the bar prices weren’t excessive. The entertainment was good – singers, children’s entertainers, bingo and disco. The camp quietened around 10. 30pm and was totally silent by 11.
We travelled around the area, and took trips to Weymouth and Portland where my wife and daughter went for a horse ride at the local stables. Portland Bill is a beautiful place and a visit is well recommended.
It was on one of these excursions that we visited both Sea Barn and East Fleet sites. We were impressed with Sea Barn, but blown away by East Fleet. It was so tranquil and had a beautiful view, overlooking the sea. We then realised our mistake… East Fleet was the one we should have chosen.
All of the members of staff were friendly and helpful.
If you are after a nice, quiet, peaceful camping holiday… this is not the place for you!

Just back from a long weekend here and really like it. Mrs DM is happy as long as the toilet block is nice so a big tick in the yes box there, the toilet block is virtually brand new, as is the swimming pool area. Unlike other reviews we had no issue with queueing for showers but the site was nowhere near full. Everything else is perfectly adequate, if a little frayed around the edges. The 'Bar in the Barn' is exactly what it says and has a unique atmosphere of it's own, adding to the site's charm. Food is nothing more than the standard campsite fare (burgers, nuggets, etc. ) but they do use beef from their own cows in the burgers and steaks which is a nice touch.
The true test of a site is whether you'd go back there, I'll be returning to West Fleet very soon.

Ok here's a site to put in your 'keeps' book. West Fleet Holiday Park. Just outside of Weymouth and a short walk from the lagoon itself, we think its absolutely brilliant for your £££££! Pool is small but clean and user friendly, unless you have disabilities as there are no flush entry or hoists, but given site costs its great facility to have. Bar is basic but good. Hopefully you don't mind chips with everything? Steak was awesome though. Its home reared Charolais (hopefully spelt that right!) and very tasty!
For the kids there is a basic but strong play area in a large field reserved just for that purpose. Must check if I can fly my kite there next time. If that's not your thing its a stones through from the Chesil lagoon and not too far from Abbotsbury (Swannery). All in all its a really spacious park with well defined pitches. Absolutely outstanding toilet/shower/family bath facility. In fact I don't have a bad thing to say about it! GO enjoy it!
