We have just come back from a really great week at West Fleet Farm. This camp site has it all,Loads of open space, even at busy times, good shop, the shower block is 1st class, and spotless any time of the day / night. The site rules are kept to & if not they will put it right.

The pool is a bonus , clean and tidy and great fun,the rules for the pool are good too.

My only faults were having to repress the shower button every 5 seconds to keep it running and some times they could of been a bit hotter.

We all had a great time and will be back again

Visited West Fleet outside of the school holidays, site was very quite. Had the pick of the site for my pitch, most pitches were quite level, but some were on a gentle slope. I chose a pitch with electric hook up adjacent the newer toilet block on the site.

My first main point of this site: The newer toilet block if definitely the best I have ever use, plenty of showers, toilets, basins & also private bathrooms.

On the site was a swimming pool, bar (with food available - not used, so can't comment on quality)

Play area for the little ones. Night times were very quite, as it is nowhere near a main road.

As places to stop go, this one rates in my top ten, and number one for this area.

My last main point: Its set up for tenter's, so you get to stop near all the facilities if you want, not in the 'Tent' field miles from the toilet block like many sites who seem to look after the caravanner by giving them first digs on pitches near the amenities.

Top marks West Fleet.

Facilities are great, particularly new shower and toilet block with under-floor heating. There are plenty of electric hook-ups but we didn't use them so can't comment.

We were lucky enough to enjoy the heated out-door swimming pool and two playgrounds were more than ample for our 3 year old and 20 month old. Great location with easy access to Weymouth, Chesil, Purbeck and Lyme Regis. Would highly recommend this campsite!

This is a good site with lots of open space for children to play, a good heated pool and nice play areas. Very clean and new loo and wash blocks but we we disappointed with showers, not very hot and not enough of them.

We enjoyed our stay until after the bank holiday when it became much more noisy at night.

We left several days early to protect our children from hearing the drunken and noisy antics of a very nearby large family group.

Whilst walking about at 11.30 pm, there were quite a few families / groups still up and being loud.

We were offered a different pitch but its a lot of work to move a fair size tent and equipment. To summarise, this is a lovely site which is well located, and would would benefit from staff doing the occasional walk around to keep their own rules adhered to.

This was about my forth visit to this site and I have always liked and recommended it. My last visit however was some 6 years ago so I didn't know whether things would have changed. I needn't have worried. The site was pretty much the same as I remembered it - swimming pool, shop, small bar / restaurant, but not a large commercial concern. The site roads are tarmac so no horrible crunching noises and no main roads nearby, so nice and peaceful.

The site is fairly large but is split into paddocks divided by trees and shrubbery, so it never feels overcrowded. The marked EHU pitches are large enough for most people's needs and I don't think the non-EHU pitches are marked so it's just a case of keeping your distance from your neighbour.

The pitches themselves are reasonable given that we had not had much rain leading up to my stay and the grass was a little dry and lumpy in places. I of course chose the worst one of the lot and had to re-negotiate a better one but I have become used to that. Fortunately, being May and the weekend before the Bank Holiday, there were plenty to choose from.

Since my last visit new facilities blocks have been built and these are as good as you would expect with private cubicles for washing and also family bathrooms. I didn't like the basin taps though and could not get much hot water out of them. They are a modern design whereby they turn one way for cold and the other way for hot and in the middle for a mixture of the two. Unfortunately hot wasn't very hot and there seemed to be very low water pressure so you had a choice of tepid water or, tepid water. The showers were hot though which compensated I suppose, with 20 second push taps. Plenty of hooks and shelves for clothing etc. In the gents was a full length mirror - very handy indeed if you have middle age spread and need to check anything below the waist.

There is a large playing field with play equipment so children have no need to complain of boredom. I believe in the height of the season they have children's entertainment as well.

I was a little disappointed that having booked I was then advised (my fault for not asking) that the Bar in the Barn was closed and there was no entertainment. However, the Red Barn in their sister site, Bagwell, some 10 minutes walk away was open and I was able to use that. It wasn't very busy though so the licensee started closing at 10pm just as things were warming up. Saved me having too big a hangover though!

I also discovered a very nice and friendly pub, the Victoria Inn, a few minutes walk along a footpath across a field from Bagwell which serves good food at reasonable prices and a selection of real beers.

It is handy for sites in this area to have their own bars since it is a car journey to the nearest civilisation - ok if you have a non-drinking chauffeur - not that I go camping just to use the watering holes but when camping alone one has to have somewhere to spend the evenings in good company.

All in all a very nice site with all you need in situ. About 4 miles from Weymouth.

Nice site, we had great weather, and it was quiet for most of our stay. The problems we found was that the site although seemingly open, was not really ready. By their own admission the owners said that they only really open from the Whitsun weekend.

The fact that the bar/club was not open affected us greatly- it was one of the reasons we chose this site- its great entertainment for our 4 year old, and its nice to have a choice as far as eating goes.

During the course of the week we watched as the toilets were cleaned ready for 'D day' (hooray!), the grass was cut, older showers etc painted, and beer delivered (noisily, at 6 am). The pool should have been nice, although its a bit shabby, and had a few insect suicide victims floating about.

The kids play areas too, could benefit from repair / repainting a bit. The hot water miraculously improved on the fri/sat, after a tradesman did something in the plant room. There's a lot of 'rulage' on site- don't do this, don't do that, no refunds under any circumstances, and strangely the lovely 'family bathrooms' are locked at 6pm daily, just before most toddlers bathtimes.

Of course, as soon as the b/h weekend rolled around the place looked great and was a great campsite, although governed to the 'credit crunch' breed of new campers- I coined the phrase 'Butlins with tents'- very noisy, and rules being broken- like naked fires etc.

Just returned from a glorious 4 night get away here with the kids. 4th Time we have stayed here. Being I suppose still out of season the place was quite empty, loads of room.

Although we were non electric for our stay we did pitch up on an electric pitch due to it being quiet. Having said that all the pitches seem able to cope with most size tents both large and small. Shop was open at various times during the day well stocked with everything you may wish from a camp store.

Toilet / washing block still looked and seemed brand new, very clean and tidy and the under floor heating on the cold nights a welcome change when stepping out of the shower. Used the family bathroom every night and with three kids to wash was a godsend.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and being out of season they still put them selves out during the day.

We stayed in paddock 'D' too. I do love this site. The new toilet block is lush! Very clean, very warm and I do believe heated flooring (Which was lovely on the knees when I was poorly one morning - nothing to do with the campsite) We was the only ones that stayed for 7 nights and because its there last week shop was open a couple of hours a day and pub/meals was only served on the sat night/sun morning when we arrived but this is expected - Was lovely meal had a jacket spud and breakfast was soooooo yummy!

Didnt see staff often as it was the last week of the season but they was very friendly and helpful and recommended places to go near by and also let us know about opening times. We had such a relaxing and peaceful week with our dog (There is a boat ride round Portland which is from Weymouth which dogs our allowed ours loved it with the wind in his ears!) also take a walk up to the main entrance to bagwell to a lovely view over the fleet and walk down to sea barn through the farm walk for another lovely view of the fleet and horses. We cannot wait to go back!

The entrance in past bagwell is a little rough so take it slow to miss the potholes (Hopefully they might of filled them in by the new season)there is another exit and entrance which is also quicker to Weymouth but the route in from it does say unsuitable to caravans)

Our second visit to this brilliant site. Excellent facilities, helpful staff and love the kid friendliness of the site. We went 7th August and had 7 glorious hot days so the pool was a plus after a hot day on the (beautiful and safe) Weymouth beach.

Toilet/shower amenities were clean and tidy plus ample dish washing places.

Have already reserved our pitch for 2010. Well done West Fleet - we know we will have a great time.

Just returned from a very enjoyable week long stay in paddock 'D' with my two boys and the dog! Field extremely well kept, as was old and new toilet / shower block. New block kept immaculately clean at all times. Plenty of sinks for washing up after meals. Loads of open space for kids to play, including nightly inflatable slides etc (although these charged a fee). Only 2 fields accepted dogs which was fine.
Bar in the barn reasonably priced and food hot - very welcome after a 6 hour drive to get there! Shop stocked everything we needed at a reasonable price - even duck tape for the airbed!
There was no noise after 11pm which was great. The kids enjoyed the pool, only downside was juggling having to supervise them in the pool (being 13 and 11 and plenty old enough!) and not being allowed the dog in. Staff in the shop extremely helpful and polite.
Weymouth harbour really nice, plenty of places to eat - kids went crabbing off the harbour wall. Boat tours from the harbour reasonably priced for hour and half ride round the coast. Portland Bill very noisy - didn't go on the tour up though because of the dog! although most places including restaurants very dog friendly. Would recommend a trip to Lyme Regis - very pretty and nice beach.

Would definitely go there again.
