We loved this campsite and will be visiting again soon. We booked for a bank holiday weekend and were restricted to a three night booking only which was not ideal, and we were told that we had booked the last pitch but arrived to find plenty of room, which was confusing. But at least the toilet and washing up facilities weren't overcrowded. The new owners are friendly and kept the site very clean. The toilets are lovely with individual bathrooms, toilet roll and hand dryers. The lack of children was also a definite plus and meant the campsite was generally quiet and you were not awoken each morning by kids. It is a fair walk down to the pleasant village of Longnor and an even more tiring stagger back up the hill after a few drinks in the charming pubs.

I absolutely loved Longnor Wood. There were beautiful views from the tent field we were pitched in, the site was very peaceful and pretty, and I really enjoyed the fact that even though it was adults only, there were still games provided. It's nice to see the fact that adults sometimes want to behave like kids too acknowledged!
We'd had car trouble and had to adjust the days which we were staying, and the owners John and Debbie could not have been more helpful or accomodating. Likewise Marcus, landlord of the Crowe and Harpur Arms in Longnor, who kindly lugged a widescreen TV down from one of the upstairs rooms so that we could watch football. Good food both there and at the Horseshoe over the road. So much to do in the area, particularly if you like walking, that we barely scratched the surface in a week. I'd definitely go back to the Peak District again, and I'd definitely stay at Longnor Wood!

Lovely site, new owners John and Debbie are so friendly , they only took over the site in March 2006. Pitches are very good sizes with aerial sockets and water on pitch(except the top field). Toilets and showers clean (each toilet has it's own sink so you can wash in comfort), dish washing area even got a freezer to use. Good site to relax or great walks, dogs are accepted and we will certainly be going again.

When I first booked this site I was a little worried. Did "adults only" mean Over 65s? or did it mean nudist? Luckily, it meant neither. It was genuinely just adults - and as a school teacher by profession, getting away from children is entirely my idea of relaxation.
Longnor Wood is a great campsite - clean, friendly and simple. I hate campsites which feel more like 4* hotels and yet, i've just started to want a little more than a "dig your own loo". Longnor wood was a perfect compromise. It had everything I wanted (toilets, showerrs etc), but nothing I didn't (BINGO, discos, swimming pool etc).
I'd recommend this campsite to anyone wanting a peaceful few days. One warning - the wind can be quite strong on the hilltop, so make sure your tent's well pegged down :-)

July 2005 Excellent site, spotlessly clean, friendly owners and patrons alike, this was our second visit here and will not be our last. Took brochures home to show to friends at work and bored them with tales of how good it was. Can't put into words how highly we rate this site.

July 2005 Just returned from weekend at this site. Fantastic is a good word for this site. No Children allowed so very quiet. Owners and wardens very helpful. Could not of asked for anything more from them. Will definitely be returning on as many occasions as possible. We have children but its nice to get away from them too. Thanks Longnor for a great weekend.

July 2005 Another cracking visit to this popular site - and a delight to discover that once again, Longnor Wood has received the coveted "Foxiest Campsite Owner" award!
For those people stupid enough not to have visited this pitch-o-do venue, it's at the top of a big hill overlooking the Staffordshire / Derbyshire countryside. Wow to the views. Nature has indeed blessed this site, both with an incredible panorama and Lindsey Hedges.
Annoyingly - but absolutely benefiting the site - Lindsey's husband Paul is a really, really nice guy. I had a nice couple of chats with him and thought yeah, top couple.
Anyway, back to the mundane stuff. The site is adults only which is the only way to go as far as I'm concerned. No wailing kids, just plenty of shrieking adults (I blame this squarely at the myriad games and fun on offer such as pitch and putt, which I'm absolutely poo at, volleyball, boules and more) and glorious flora and fauna.
Did I mention the situation? Simply sublime.
That's the good bits over with.
The bad bit - I had to queue, twice, for the loo at about 9am each morning. Not good form, and the choice of panelling resulted in some rather loud echoing from the three neighbouring pans. Also it's not so clear where the chemical disposal point is. You can see how I spend most of my time...
The bottom line, then. Great site, about 1.5 miles from Longnor with its three pubs (each serving average beer) and a fourth, the Pack Horse in Crowdecote, another mile down a hill with smashing ale and good food. Longnor is on the bus route to Ashbourne and Buxton, both pretty towns. Ample opportunity to mountain bike and walk straight from the site.
Rating out of 84: 75.

June 2005 Visited this site for a week and its fantastic/brilliant/top, if god was a camper he'd stay on this site ! The woodland walk is great theres red deer and roe in there,in fact wildlife abounds here, it truly is a haven for wild life,. the site owners paul and lindsay could not have been more frendly and professional,. We had no trouble camping there with our motorbike and tent, really came away feeling we'd left home! very peacefull and a real treat to find a place that puts peace and quite uppermost all facilitys were ABSOLTLY SPOTLESS

June 2005 Lovely and quiet site, set in deepest countryside , some of the views are quite fantastic , toilet blocks very clean and the toilets have their own washbasins in the cubicles, nice touch of music playing whilst in the toilet blocks, if staying here request a fully serviced pitch as are very good , (we took our freeview box and got good reception because of the sites high gain reception antenna). Site owner and warden both very helpful , good security on site because gates closed after 10pm at night , also try the sites pitch and put, we will definately be going back Longnor Wood.
