May 2004 Just back from 3 nights stay at Longnor Wood, absolutely wonderful weekend. Weather not as predicted (thank God), campsite and facilities were excellent, friendly staff and glourious countryside.
Q What more could you ask for?
A In a large field with only 4 tents for the 3 nights, neighbours who stick there tent more than 3 mtrs away from yours. I just hope the guinness consumed made us snore & trump far more than they did. They may get the hint?
Unfortunately we found this site shortly after news that a new arrival is on the way, so this may be our only chance to experience Longnor Wood? Unless we use the grandparents.

Aug/sept 2003 & April 2004 Longnor Wood campsite is one the best places you can stay. Its quiet, clean, Paul, Lindsey, Jo & Edith are the friendliest people you could wish to meet on your arrival and one of the best things about the campsite is the fact there are no kids allowed on site!! (Heaven)
There are alsorts of things you can do in the area, long senic walks, cycling e.t.c my favourite is to just sit in the sun reading a good book drinking wine, glancing at the scenery and listening to the birds. Which is good the site shop has a well stocked fridge full of wine. Another great part about the camp site shop is the fact they are branching out selling Organic produce so not only am I living the life of luxury I know the food im eating isnt going to kill me!!
Will definitely be going back to Longnor Wood time and time again. See you there. (Im the one reading and drinking wine LOL)

May 2004 Just returned from a fabulous long weekend at Longnor- and could't fault it. Peaceful sight, clean and comfortable facilites, fantastic views and really helpful and friendly staff. The warden gave us helpful advice about where to pitch and ensured that everyone had plenty of room. Great walking from the site if you don't want to use the car- and a couple of nice pubs in the village if you can manage a bit of a walk there and back . Will definately be returning soon.

August 8 to 10, 2003 Took us a fair while to get to this park from Northamptonshire, but the wait was well rewarded on the winding track up to the campsite from the A53 towards Leek.
The views commanded by Longnor Wood are nothing short of stupendous, the pitches generous and the facilities more than adequate.
I think the one thing that endeared the park to us from the very outset was its "adults only" nature.
Nothing worse than screaming little brats about when you're trying to have a lie-in in the morning.
And our requirements were perfectly met. A lovely peaceful site, Longnor Wood was the antidote to a week of hard work.
The walk from the park to Longnor itself took about 25 minutes - it's 825 yards up the campsite's track alone - but there's two good pubs once you get there, serving great ale. The chip shop is heaven - I recommend you try the balti pie if, like me, you've never been introduced to the concept of pastry marrying Indian cuisine before!
We took our mountain bikes, but we didn't get too far because the weather was stultifying. Our first ride was marred by a wrong-turning but the day was put right when we returned to Longnor and spent a day getting merry with some friends we made in the village.
Longnor Wood has it all - nice showers, a putting green, amicable campers and the most stunning receptionist you'll ever come across working at a site. Say hello to her from me!

8-10th Aug We booked this trip back in June and then read Freds review of May 03 and thought we may have made a mistake but having just returned we cant wait to get back. It's a jem of a site with great views, friendly people and fantastic hosts with an eye and 'ear' for customer satisfaction, total peace and tranquilty . Maybe Fred went to a diffrent longnor wood - if you don't get total relaxation and pleasure here you won't get it anywhere - but don't tell too many people!!

August 2003 This is the first time in years that we have been camping - we rang quite a few places, brought two books, and browsed the internet to find the right site!
we were really pleased our choice, no children, friendly people along with PEACE and QUIET! which is just what we needed!
the facilities we cool aswell the toilets and showers were very clean although the mens could do with an extra cubicle for those "peak" periods!
all in all we had a great time and loved it so much that we are going back this weekend!

2nd-5th August 2003 We had a wonderful time at Longnor Wood. The campsite is very well cared for and to say its quiet is an understatment. If you want a quiet time with spectacular views, then this is the site for you!
Ok, you're on the Manchester flight path, but we did not find the planes intrusive at all. In fact, there weren't that many and we sat trying to work out which airline they belonged to. We even got to see a WW2 plane as well!
One word of warning - do take a dustpan and brush as the groundsman does have a thing about short cut grass and doesn't have a grass colletor attached to his lawnmower! You will be finding blades of grass in the most surprising of places!
Overall, this is the best campsite we've ever stayed at and will be going back again soon.

18th - 22nd July 2003 Just have to agree with all the reviews, a really quiet, clean and pretty site, with lovely views from the dog walk area (spent many an hour just sat there!).The owners were really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Three words of warning...you are on the flight path for Manchester Airport, there is quite a steep hill approaching the village of Longnor when coming from the Buxton direction that has traffic lights half way up (!) and finally bring some chocks with you for your wheels as site is sloping. But don't let these put you off, this is probably the best site in terms of views and peace and quiet we have been to.

July 2003 Got a bit lost getting there, but on arrival we were greeted by the most pleasant people !
It was our (wife and I ) first tent outing for one night only......we told the gentleman this and he took us to a field where all the other campers were on a sponsored walk, so giving us a chance to put the tent up for the first time without an audience !.
He even said he would help us if we wished.
People were all friendly, toilets and showers very clean. Free boules, badminton, putting and lawn darts included in the £11 too.
Beautiful views, and a pub about a mile and a half down the road if you forget to bring some beer, but the camp shop is licenced anyway.
A lovely initiation to camping, and wonderfully helpful people running the site.

July 4th 2003 We can only confirm most of the previous reviews. Paul & Lindsey were very good hosts, the site wonderful (including the views, esp. from the dog walking area), clean showers toilets etc. We could go on but the best two bits were Adults only and dogs made very welcome, sheer bliss! We will return.
