We have been 3 times now to this site. It is very peaceful, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The views are superb of countryside and the small but well stocked site shop has all the essentials you might need. Showers and toilets are very nice and clean. The whole site is well maintained and they have games you can use such as bowls, large field darts etc. They even let my sister and brother inlaw pitch next to us in their tent so we can be together. The site is a little expensive but it has no negative points at all and we will certainly be going this year.

This site was a breath of fresh air (literally)compared to the site we had come from in Northumberland. We were late arriving but the staff were friendly and welcoming. The pitch was huge and the facilities lovely and clean despite the fact that it was a Saturday night and raining. The dog walking area is huge and the views are stunning with seating areas provided and plenty of dog poo disposal bins. The village is a mile or so away but we were told that the local pub do a collect and return service for those people who would like to enjoy a drink and it is dog friendly and the service included taking the dog. Rabbits run freely around the site which never ceased to be entertaining and the wardens were friendly and helpful whenever we saw them.
What can I say, we were sad to leave and will definitely be going back.

This was our first time camping. With a dog. So a little nervous especially as we were arriving on Friday 13th! however we had a great time.
When booking the campsite I spoke with the owner on the phone and I knew straight away we were going to love the site. The owner was really friendly, full of information and generally welcoming.
The owner and his family were fabulous. The site had everything from a microwave, washing up facilities, washing machine and dryer, toilets and showers - all very clean.
There was also a little hut with tourist information leaflets, walks and lots of other information. Also available were badminton, boules and mini golf.
The site hosts a number of wild rabbits!
Our dog decided to have a little accident on our double sleeping bag. John and the team were fabulous. Washing machine came in very handy at £2 per use with a washing tablet at 40 pence. Bargain!
Poppy (our dog) thoroughly enjoyed the meadow at the side of the campsite. Fabulous views.
Visited the Cheshire Cheese pub in the village. The pub can either come and pick you up and drop you back off at the campsite or you can walk to the village approx 1. 5 miles and then the pub will drop you back off at the campsite! excellent.
Overall a great site. Everyone very friendly.

Just returned home from a weekend stay at Longnor wood, our 1st visit to this site.
This is a lovely site to stay on and well worth a visit, benefitting from really friendly and helpful staff, large pitche's with ehu etc, ultra clean, modern toilet / shower block, the site it's self is spotlessly clean and well maintained, there's an outdoor seating/picnic area and small 9 hole putting green and it's a dog friendly too
The site is situated in the peak district and has wonderful views of the rolling hillside's, you can opt to pitch up in a tent, or as we did, in a touring caravan but if camping isn't your thing you can hire one of the sites lodges complete with hot tub, also, as and when available, you can take a seasonal pitch.
one word of advice though, don't relay too much on your sat' nav' as you approach the site, it will send you the wrong way, if you provide your mobile number the site owners will txt you directions if required.
Any visitor's to Longnor wood wanting pub grub could do far worse than visit THE CHESHIRE CHEESE, in Longnor village, the food here is reasonably priced with largish portions, a good range of beers etc ( unicorn was particularly good) again the staff are very friendly and helpful.
another reason to visit the Cheshire cheese is the fact that they operate a FREE pick-up and drop off service ( by arrangement) for visitors to Longnor wood.
In short then this is a well run site which we will be visiting again

Excellent well run site with a good range of facilities, everything was clean even though the site was very busy
If you want to go into the village for a drink or meal you can get a card from reception from one of the pubs that will pick you up and drop you back for free
Wish all sites were as good as this one and would highly recommend to anyone wishing to visit this area.

Received a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our pitch where everything was pointed out to us.
Site is kept lovely. Everything clean and tidy. Showers fine, nice extra was the fold up chair hanging in each cubicle. Made getting dressed just a bit easier for those unable to do the usual 'one footed balance' to get trousers back on.
Dog walking field is great to let your four legged friend have a good run and is the place to be first thing in the morning if you want a chat with other campers.
Lovely 20 min walk into village which has a nice pub serving good food, couple of small shops and post office.
Yes it is up a long narrow road to get there but really worth it when you make it.
One of the few sites we would actually to back and stay again. Best of all NO children screaming and charging about on their bikes.

We spent a week at this lovely campsite as a base when visiting relations in Stoke. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were good. Toilet blocks clean and we had no problem with water being hot enough. The fact that it is an adult only site suited us as we were after peace and quiet. Surrounding countryside beautiful. Huge field for dog to run about in adjacent to entrance and lots of rabbits around. All in all a very pleasant experience. Will definitely visit again.

We have been out on our second camping trip this weekend to this wonderful site. It's clean, well kept and very recommendable.
We have a 6 berth tent and the pitch which we were allocated was an ample size with the hook-up within easy reach.
We will certainly be visiting again. The people on the site were very friendly and we managed to make new friends which, is a bonus.
We played on the putting area which is certainly not for the likes of Tiger Woods but, we had a good giggle especially trying not to hit the bunnies with the ball.
Buxton is only a short drive away with many shops to visit.
The toilet/shower block is very clean and, the site is a quiet getaway which we certainly will be telling our friends about.
Brilliant!

We have mostly positive comments about this picturesque site so we'll start with those. The welcome from the family that run and own the site was excellent and throughout our stay they were chatty and very helpful. The reception area has basic foodstuff for sale like bacon and local farm eggs and a plenty of leaflets and information about the local attractions.
As dog owners, we loved the four acre dog walk which is half a field/meadow with breathtaking views and half wooded area for extra shelter on wet days. Both areas are walled and we were happy to let the dog run and stretch his legs here which is rare for a campsite based dog walk.
The site is very pretty and well laid out with three caravan areas and tent field all of which are well kept and neat. As mentioned before a small area near the wash block reception is given over to a small Putting Green and a French style Boule pitch which again are immaculately kept. Equipment for both is free and available in the small library next to reception. There is also some picnic benches in a little landscaped section next to this area for spectating or just enjoying a change if scenery from your own pitch.
Rabbits rule the roost and we saw some people feeding them lettuce- they hardly need the encouragement as they seem to have no fear -all of which led to our dog drooling with excitement.
We didn't have an all service pitch and were a bit confused that this wasn't offered when we booked online especially as there seemed to be one available throughout our 7 night stay. Nevertheless the water, electric and TV booster box were all just behind the pitch and very convenient.
The area itself is quite remote but in a car everything is accessible. Longnor is very picturesque and apprarently has good pubs. We went for lunch on 2 occasions before we discovered that the pubs do not open until the evening. This was the same for most of the local villages except on Sundays. There are plenty of facilities in Buxton and Leek. Leek is probably slightly nearer and has a large Morrisons for groceries. Buxton has Morrisons too just outside the centre and Waitrose and Aldi right in town. We could recommend The Railway pub in Buxton for good cheap ( 2 for £8. 95) lunch, friendly service too.
Now for the negatives: access to site is tricky in a caravan as the track up to site is shared with the local farm. There are passing places but if you are not good reversing whilst towing meeting a brand new mammoth combine harvester with right of way is not fun. Being in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the road leading from the main A53 is winding and steep in parts and narrows to single track at a farm just before you reach Longnors turnoff. Cars come hurtling down this road, so beware. The main A53 from Leek climbs very steeply no need for a trip to Alton Towers!
Negatives on the site itself, we loved it generally but it loathes me to say, the showers were not the best. The push button system was annoying and gave my husband only 10-15 seconds of water at a time, I was lucky as the ladies had 1 shower with regular controls, if I timed well enough I nearly always got this one. One particular evening the ladies were giving off a musty bad smell and the channel where the water ran away appeared to be clogged with hair and debris. Disappointing.
All in all though we had a lovely stay and really enjoyed the surrounding area.

We visited this site for the first time and were immediately made to feel 'at home'. The site owners, family and employees went above and beyond the call of duty to help us and ensure that we enjoyed our stay.
We had only intended to stay one week but changed our minds the second day and decided to stay a further 8 nights (15 nights in all), even though it meant changing pitches as the pitch we were on had been specifically booked. Moving pitch was not a problem and turned out to be a spectator event as I decided to moved our van and awning 'en mass' using the motor mover and three staff, even got a round of applause from the onlookers, lol.
Facilities were always clean with plentiful hot water, piped radio, soap and paper towels, we couldn't fault anything apart from the fact that the showers were if anything a little too hot for my wife. Site was kept clean, tidy and well mowed. The dog walking area gave wonderful views, not that we have a dog, and it was nice just to there and watch the sun go down. Also had a few nice walks through the woods that border the site.
Longor village, one mile away, had two pubs, a 'chippy' and was a little gem to walk around.
We timed our stay to coincide with Buxton festival weeks, including carnival day and the 'Fringe' festival. Buxton is a 'MUST' visit town with sooo many pubs and the beautiful Victorian Opera house and and town gardens complete with band stand, narrow guage railway, river and lake.
The surrounding towns, villages and countryside are amazingly beautiful with so many places to visit and things to do.
We visited Ashbourne (for the biggest gathering of the Clans outside Scotland), Castleton (for the Blue John mines, amongst others), Bakewell, the three linked reservoirs( Ladybower, Derwent and Howden), Saddleworth Moor and Gawsworth Hall ( a beautiful Tudor house that regularly stages open air concerts and plays). There really is soo much to see and do in the Peak district, ' Go Explore'.
