This trip was my first time camping in years and I genuinely believe I couldn't have found a better camp site if I'd known what I was looking for!

The site is set in a stunning location, and the staff were amazingly helpful. The on-site store is basically provisioned but will help with the little things you might run out of, such as tea, coffee, milk, etc.

The individual pitches are set up so that there is no sense of overcrowding. The toilet/shower facilities were clean and comfortable and I got no scent of the 'drain smell' that previous reviewers have mentioned so I think that they must have resolved the problem now.

The dog walking area was beautiful with an absolutely stunning view and my puppy, who was on his first camping trip, loved it. The nearest village is Longnor and it's really pretty.

I can recommend the 'Cheshire Cheese' pub there, who were dog friendly and did a delicious steak and chips! The nearest town of any size is Leek, but Buxton is not too far away and is wonderful to visit.

Because it was an adults only site I was mildly surprised to find that the store wasn't licensed to sell bottles of beer or wine, but it wasn't a problem as we were able to provide our own from the village shop!

All in all, I genuinely believe you would struggle to find a better site and I would highly recommend it. I will definitely be going back again and again!

What an amazing site! Fantastic views and walking, friendliest owners / staff possible, great roomy pitches, volley-ball net, free crazy golf and even a petanque (boules) pit, eco-friendly and all without children. A very trusting site where nothing seemed to be too much trouble (e.G., providing pumps for mattresses when stupid us forgot our own), with a lovely friendly atmosphere.

A bit of a schlep up a hill into the pretty village of Longnor, perhaps - but that brings pluses and minuses. We ate for 1 night at the Cheshire Cheese Inn in Longnor which was cheap and friendly (not good for vegetarians though) but a little lacking in get up and go - although they uncovered an old pool table just for us which was kind.

Would like to return to the area and the site for year after year and probably will. It really is hard to find fault at all.

We stayed in a tent here and got a pitch with EHU. The pitch was generous in size.

The site has a mixture of seasonal caravan pitches, touring caravan pitches and tent pitches and in the lower section large static caravans and lodges with a few seasonal pitches.

There is a field for tents only with no ehu.

The site is set out well with different fields connected by walls and in the centre is the shop / reception which also has a book library, and the toilet block and washing up facilities are connected.

The wardens were nice people, very helpful, showed you to your pitch, and they opened the shop long hours. They did not throw a rule book at you like some sites are prone to welcoming you with.

The surroundings are beautiful, the campsite has woods at the entrance and the field at the entrance has a great dog exercise area with beautiful views of the Peak District.

The toilets and showers were immaculate and even though the site was full I never found more than myself in there so no queues at all.

There is a putting green, boules and picnic area, all well maintained and had the weather been better would have probably been a social area for the visitors but it was not brilliant so being dog owners we met plenty of people on the dog area.

The village of Longnor is downhill about a mile away and had a general store and a couple of pubs. We had a good meal in the the Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn which welcomed us like regular customers and also at The Royal Oak pub a few miles past The Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn. They both welcomed the dog too so we did not have to leave him in the car which he was pleased about.

I cannot criticise anything about the site. It should be noted it was an adult only site which would rule out taking the young ones here. I think it is good having a diverse range of sites that cater for different atmospheres and whilst we have usually been to family sites we enjoyed this site a lot.

Spent the last week at Longnor Wood, The facilities are excellent, with plenty hot water and freezer and microwave both free to use. Also a putting green and badmington available on site

Is well maintained by the friendly owners, it is very peaceful and the pitch was spacious and level with ehu and water adjacent to pitch

Will definitely be visiting this site again and would highly recommend.

We have just spent 4 days at this adults only site. This is one of the best adult only sites we have visited. The showers were spotless all of the time, plenty of hot water and we realy liked the individual washing and shaving cubicles.

The staff and all the outher guests were realy friendly and even helped to pack the tent away at the end of our stay as it was quite windy.

All in all a very good site and we will be returning in the not to distant future. We would recommend this site to anyone who wants peace and quiet

We went with our friends, who had been twice before, already, and our Flat Coated Retriever, Henry.

The campsite, overall, is one of the best I have ever been to. The grounds and pitches are beautifully kept without them feeling ‘uniformed’ or artificial.

You approach the site via a long and very narrow road (which has passing places, which shows how narrow the road is, but didn’t pose any trouble for the caravans we saw using it) and turn in to the site just before the road ends.

The first thing you see is the large field set aside for exercising dogs. This is a very well kept area and our dog absolutely loved running around with the other dogs he met during our stay (including his holiday girlfriend, Phoebe the Golden Retriever). Although the field runs along the site’s main route in and out, the field is large enough not to pose any danger when your dogs are running free.

There are also some walled woodlands that you are able to take your dogs in to that you can access from within the site, if your dog wants to go ‘off road’.

The main block of the site consists of the reception (with shop, laundry room and a section where you can borrow books/walking routes / magazines and the outdoor games such as Boules / Badminton / Miniature Golf etc.), the washing up room (where there is also a microwave and a freezer for ice packs) and the toilet / shower blocks.

The toilets and showers were immaculately clean and we didn’t have to queue once while we were there. There were three push button showers with lots of free hot water and three toilet cubicles with hand basins inside. The blocks were also heated and had piped in Radio 2.

We were in the main tent field (without EHU) and everyone was pitched along the edge of the field, so no one’s view was blocked by another tent. The field is sheltered all the way around by trees and bushes and meant that there was practically no wind at all.

The pitches are well spaced out and are more or less flat, ensuring an easy pitch and level beds at night.

The owners of this site could not be more helpful and friendly. Couldn’t do enough for you, but left you to get on with your holiday if you wanted. They made an excellent site even better.

As for the surrounding area, the beautiful village of Longnor is only a couple of miles away and we walked there on the Saturday in glorious sunshine in no time at all.

While we were there, we visited the Old Cheshire Cheese Inn for three pints of their Unicorn hand pulled real ale and a delicious pub lunch of homemade steak and ale pie (made with the Unicorn ale) and homemade ‘proper’ chips.

For anyone taking their dog(s), they will be more than welcome here and your best friend will be able to sit with you while you eat. The dog friendly bar is on the right as you go through the main doors.

It’s also worth visiting the local shop (next to the King’s Head pub) for any essentials you may have forgotten. We went in looking for hot water bottles (as we were a little cold at night) and the young lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful.

I can’t recommend this camp site highly enough, and we are very much looking forward to visiting again, soon. If you’re looking for a beautiful and quiet site where your dogs will be as welcome as you are, then this is the site for you.

This is a very well run site with excellent and very clean facilities. We had absolutely no complaints at all, and we'd wholeheartedly recommend Longnor for a relaxing break.

We only stayed for a couple of nights in order to meet up with family in Buxton, we were made very welcome, even with two large dogs in tow.

The very wet weather had made one end of our pitch a trifle damp, which was hardly surprising, but since we'd booked rather late at a busy time and taken (I think) the last pitch with electric hook up we were quite happy - nobody could predict the 2009 'BBQ summer' in it's actuality!

Set quite high in the surrounding countryside, there's a beautiful outlook from the field on the approach. I only wish we'd been able to stay a little longer in some better weather.

Had a lovely 3 nights on this site. Wardens very helpful. Left you alone to enjoy your stay unless of course you needed them and then only a bell push away. I had a problem with the car when I was leaving. Warden tried to jump start - to no avail. Called the rescue service so it meant I was late leaving the site. Asked if they wanted me to pay any money but they said it was OK. Very good of them.
The views around this site are breathtaking. I will definitely visit again. Beware if you use a satnav, It takes you past the site. Best to follow the brown camping signs when you reach Longnor Village

This site is excellent in all aspects! We stayed for 8 nights leading up to the Easter holiday. The weather was normal for the time of year, we had everything except snow. Even an overnight gale didn't spoil anything for us but we did find out that our rock pegs were not long enough!

On our first morning we discovered that the washing up water was luke warm but it was corrected by the staff as soon as we mentioned it, as the site had only just opened for the season some of the time switches on the water system were not on the correct time. Soon fixed.

If you want a site that has excellent scenery, peace and quite, perfect washrooms and friendly staff then look no further.

Just got back from our weekend at Longnor Wood. What can I say that hasn't already been said?? Fantastic site, great facilities, stunning scenery. Weather could have been kinder - had a few showers and some blustery wind - but you can't do anything about that. Went with a couple of friends and we lent them our Vango Venture, so had a couple of pitches together.

Went to Buxton and Bakewell for a walk around on Saturday, bought lots of picnic type food back and utilised one of the picnic tables for our spread, whilst having a boules tournament (Helped by some beer too!)

Staff were very friendly, would definitely recommend this site if you want some quiet away from it all time.
