May 2005 Having read all the wonderful reviews of the site, we were not dissapointed. Although we visited during a bank holiday weekend, the site did not seem over crowded, and I never had to wait to use the toilet or shower (I really like the idea of the toilet and shower being in the same room). The site is very well kept and deserves its David Bellamy Gold Award. It has the best dog walk ever. My dog Fflur made lots of new friends, whilst I chatted and admired the views. We shared our field with the campers, and because it was such a nice weekend, everyone sat outside drinking wine. As you are in the middle of nowhere, you feel relaxed, and are happy to watch the world go by. Many of the people we chatted to have been back time, and time again, and we will be joining that club. I hope it always remains an adult only site, allowing children would spoil the ambience.

May 2005 Just returned from this site. Although it was a bank holiday weekend and the site was full - it never felt crowded. Smashing showers, kept very clean and the private cubicles are a great idea,(although the water wasn't very warm!!)one or 2 seperate 'loos' might have helped at busy times. Very nicely laid out site and extremely well maintained. Owners very friendly and Millie the dog is a smasher.
If you're looking for a very peaceful, relaxing weekend (and you're over 18 as it's an 'Adults Only' site) then this is the place for you - we'll certainly be going back.

May 2005 This is a lovely park, 1000ft up and mostly surrounded by trees. The owners Lindsey and Paul keep the site immaculate. The pitches are good sizes and the site is cleverly laid out. On arrival Lindsey really made us feel welcome. The facilities are also very clean with good showers. There is a site shop, laundry with washer, tumbler, spin dryer and ironing facilities. Also a host of games including lawn darts. You need to be a keen walker or have transport as it is almost two miles to the nearest village - although saying that it is well situated for Ashbourne, Buxton and Leek. Give it a whirl if you like peace and quiet mixed with beautiful scenery.

April 2005 Just got back from a weekend at Longnor Wood and we're booking up to go back again in June! It's lovely and everything that everyone has said is spot on! The toilet block with individual loos and sinks (or loos, sinks and showers) is a wonderful idea. It was a Bank Holiday weekend but I never had to queue to use the facilities. Extremely friendly people both running the site and camping. It really was idylic - peace and quiet and then some. Can't wait for June! Thanks everyone.

September 2004 Two couples and a dog on a weekend in Derbyshire - arrived Friday night to warm reception, beautiful views and felt glad to be alive! Longnor Wood is all positive- couldn't find a single thing to whinge about. Some would say the planes on the Manchester Airport flight path might be a problem, but we found it unobtrusive and if you let this stop you, you would be missing out on a treat. The ethos of the owners is very environmentally friendly which is very commendable and makes you realise all the more that you have found somewhere a bit special. Longnor is great for pubs but do take cash as they don't all take cards and there is no cash machine (as we found out when we had to share a bowl of chips bewteen four and dog due to lack of cash). The dog walking area is great and even of you hate dogs, can't see that you would be disturbed- even the dogs are chillin' out here! The number of reviews on this site says it all as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy!

September 2004 Wonderful site. Really cannot fault this site at all. Very friendly people that run it, very clean and generally maintained and run to a very high standard. The heated toilet and shower blocks were an added bonus on our cold September weekend !!! Very well designed site with a specially designated dog walking field so no dogs running around the site yapping - must be on a lead at all times except in the designated field which is slightly away from the pitches so works very very well and should keep everyone happy. Recycling points and lots of water points and bins - even a microwave to use !!
This has to be one of the best sites in Derbyshire - simply beautiful, peacful and well worth a stay.

August 2004 excellent campsite nice pleasant owners, highly recommendable. The shop is quite small, but the village is only a mile and half away. The cafe in the village does a excellent full english breakfast. The pub opposite the cafe also does excellent meals. The view and walks in the sorrounding countryside are good. If your lucky and get the weather you will have a superb holiday.

September 2004 Have just returned from our first visit to Longnor Wood and this for our first Holiday in our recently purchased Caravan. This is a place to totally 'chill out' - quiet, friendly people, doggie heaven ..... especially on the wonderful dog walk. A site to return to, over & over again in a beautiful area, with welcoming Pubs & courteous friendly local people. Enjoy!!!

August 2004 The views from the drive up to this site are fantastic. The dog exercise area is very good. we were a little dissapointed as, perhaps wrongly, I got the impression that we would be able to walk through the woods but it is too dense.
The toilets and showers were o.k but there are not enough to cater for the whole site and the site wasn't full to capacity. I found myself queing for sometime on a number of occasions in the mornings as there are no single loos they are cubicles with wash basins and/or showers in them.
All the pitches were very wet, soggy in fact and you are not allowed to use a ground sheet, this I can see the point of but it made it very difficult trying to dry off our own feet plus those of our two dogs everytime we went in the caravan. The awning was like a mud bath.
This is the first time we have been on an adult only site and I found it strange that there were no children about, children and pets are always ways of starting conversation between fellow campers. I would'nt go to this site again I was a bit dissapointed after reading the reviews I think my expectations were too high.
