A lovely stay in a beautifully kept site. Our idea of a perfect site is to park our old campervan and leave it which we did for two days. We arrived mid morning and had a lovely spacious site which had the sun all day until mid evening then shaded by a big tree. But all we did then was walk for a few mintues and sit at the head of lake Bala and absorb the view. The site as mentioned by everyone is immaculate, showers and toilets excellent and there always seemed to be someone around cleaning.
It was ideally positioned for walks. Discovered one in the afternoon taking us up the river. It appeared at one time to take you through a private garden but that was legal!
Next day caught the train part way down and headed back along the hillside. A good walk with excellent views but difficult at times getting our 10 yr old dog over steep ladder styles. A pity they did not have the wooden pegs you can lift to let them through and still be sheep proof. Could have been awkward if alone because I could not have lifted her over!
Although there is a car barrier by the side of the lake it is possible to walk alongside the lake for about 3/4 of a mile making a pleasant early morning or evening walk. The town is interesting too. The site owners were helpful especially in suggesting where to stay on the coast.
All in all to be recommended - and could have stayed longer.

We rang to try and book a pitch on Saturday morning.Lucky for us 2 left. So we were given pitch 74. It's probably the first in the tent area on the left hand site, great location with electric hook up if needed.
Overall the campsite is in a fantastic location - easy walking distance into Bala town (10 to 15 mins). Ideal if you in Bala to use the lake/watersports - 5 mins walk to the lake.
Toilet and shower facilities are probably the best I've seen, great hot showers and very clean.
The only downside was the amount of midges on the site, though it was exactly the same in Bala town too. Might of been the humid weather that weekend, but I probably got bit about 40 times :(.
Would definitely go back again but I'd ring to make sure Bala wasn't infested with midges.

Having returned from our 1st camping experience I have to say this is a fabulous site. We arrived quite late due to hubby finishing work late but it was no problem. Easy site to find and easy access onto the site. Owners are really friendly and accommodating. We had a large pitch which was more than enough space for our tent and car, the signs stating the pitch number were a little on the small side and were hard to see as we were driving round.
Pitched out tent well and ground was well drained and easy to drive the pegs into. We had a problem blowing our airbed up and needed to buy a foot pump but by this time the site shop was closed but the owners opened up for us.
The on site facilities were lovely and clean and were never full whilst we were there, the morning paper was available at the shop - much to hubby's relief! There was also an option to order meat from a local butcher to be delivered the following day. My only mini moan was that the hand drier in the toilets was really loud and kept waking me during the night but that is just me being picky!
Will definitely go back to this site and recommend it to all my friends.

A fantastic campsite with excellent facilities. Owners Cate & Pete are very helpful and accommodating. Well stocked shop and chandlers on site, close to Bala lake for sailing / canoeing and a nice walk into the village where there is a good selection of eateries. B BQ food can be ordered from a local butcher via campsite shop as can daily newspapers. This site is worth a visit and is well deserving of its 4 flag status :)

Owners are extremely helpful. Very clean and tidy site. One of the better sites I have stayed on with free hot water showers and spotless toilets. I have visited this site at least once a year over the past 3-4 years and have recommended it to friends who have also visited it. So many attractions to visit but never enough time to do everything. The white water rafting centre is well worth a visit, I'm not normally the adventurous type but I took the plunge and had a go and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The drive over the Dinas Mawdyy pass is an experience not to be missed. It is worth driving over for the views. This can be found as you turn left out of the campsite and take the 1st turning on your left.I will definitely use this site again. I don't always have good weather when I come I usually bring the rain with me but that is all part of the fun of camping.

What a pleasant site, the owner's were very friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy. The small shop on site held the basics. The town of Bala was close by, with all the shops you will need, some small good cafes and pubs, and the small railway line that runs along the lake is a must for children who are mad about trains. Just to let the barbecue people know there is a small butcher's at the top of the main street that does a mean Ham and pineapple burger - they are out of this world. The only thing that spoiled our stay was the freezing weather that we had at Easter. But I would still stay there again.

Booked this camp in advance, good idea too, it was nearly full. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. We haven’t been to many sites but you could tell straight away that this was special. The reception is right by the entrance and the owner was there to greet us. He showed us the pitch and helped us to push the caravan into place - my husband still can’t reverse, but says he will learn! The camp itself was immaculately clean and the shower and toilet block was perfect, it even had music. The grass was short and there was plenty of space between pitches. All the usual amenities were available on site and the gates for cars were locked at 11pm – very reassuring. It had hookups which were hidden in the trees! There were plenty of kids on site, who seemed to enjoy themselves, although I didn’t see a play area. We had very good weather and walked along the lake and river into Bala, which is a town and not a village as some reviews would have you believe! Enjoyed ourselves immensely and the charges were reasonable. This place was heaven compared to the last site we visited and we will definitely revisit. My only gripe is that there was no force in the shower and it took a long time to get the shampoo out of my hair!

Had a great holiday here last year, will definitely use this site again, the weather was crap but when I got stuck in the mud the guy got his 4x4 to pull us free. Very helpful couple nothing too much trouble. Hopefully will visit and have better weather this year. Views around the lake were stunning, next time we stop at this site will pitch at the bottom of the site, the super pitches are at the top of the site and are in a dip which if muddy is very difficult to get off.

As a family with two teenage children we would highly recommend this site. The pitches were well spaced and the site itself was well kept. In particular the toilets and showers were spotless.
Nothing was too much trouble for the site owners who gave us some ideas and advice on the facilities in the area. We particularly enjoyed the meat in the on site shop provided by a local butcher, so much so that we'll definitely be going back in 2009.
The site is situated close to the lake and is really beautiful, it's also a convenient and pleasant walk into the town of Bala where there are lots of places to get reasonably priced food.

We spent one night here October 08 on our way down to South Wales.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Showers/ toilets are clean modern and spacious.
Most pitches appear to slope to some degree and are a mixture of hard standing and grass. The grass pitches all look to have two concrete strips for the wheels of your van.
Our pitch was a hard standing in a little cul-de-sac being the middle pitch of three. The other two pitches were in use by seasonal caravans with awnings.
We would have been disappointed if we were a caravan and awning setup as we would have been on top of the other caravans due to the very limited space either side. However, just being a motorhome with no awning and with the two seasonal vans being empty that weekend, it was a nice and peaceful spot perfect for one nights stop, and it was our decision to use the pitch as the owner gave us permission to use any free pitch we liked. The other pitches are well spaced out.
I can imagine that the site looks better in drier months, but I couldn’t help thinking that there needed a little more TLC in some places, partially due to muddy patches and weeds/ grass growing on the hard standings.
There is no children’s play area on site which was disappointing for our children (almost 2 and 4 years old).
There is no designated motorhome point for waste drainage, none that we found or were advised of anyway. Plus all water filling points are push button taps – very frustrating when you have a 100 ltr water tank to fill up! We decided to just put in what we would need for the night, but that was still tricky trying to get a hose to stay in place while you went back to push the tap! Thankfully it wasn’t raining at the time and my wife agreed to come out of the van and hold the hose while I held the tap.
There is WiFi available at the site subject to a small cost. We never used it and can not comment if all pitches are covered.
The site is next to two roads but this never caused us a problem and most pitches are not next to them. There are footpaths from site to lake / town on the roads, much better for the pushchair as the cars did travel quickly down the roads.
The location in Wales is good and the site is only a 5-10 minute walk to the shore of Lake Bala, and only a further ten minutes in to Bala itself with lots of bars and restaurants. Due to the time we arrived, we never got chance to explore beyond Bala town, but I can imagine there is nice walking and cycling in the area not to mention plenty of water sports.
We would stay again as a stop off point, but would try some of the other sites in the area first, mainly due to the lack of children’s play area. Play areas are a blessing when you want 5 minutes to yourself!
