Excellent site, not too big, not to small, toilet block immaculate & a great idea to have the toilet/sink & shower cubicles in the unisex part( take a torch for night or you'll end up on your arse), very quiet at night even in mid-summer, brilliant watching the crows coming in to roost at dusk then the amazingly clear night sky, the fishing was good and nearly all the kids got at least one fish each, the Galloway area it's self is really nice & has a kind of French feel to it. A visit to the "cream of Galloway "& "Mabie Farm" are a definite, the beach is good for crab hunting with the kids. (some negatives) no entertainment on at club on 6 out of 7 nights we were there & if you can't speak polish / Latvian then you may struggle, the shop is pretty well stocked but runs out of rolls, beer & wine pretty quickly. I would definitely go back for a visit & being used to going to Pitlochry a lot it was a very welcome change, I would reccomend to all if they fancy a good site.

This was our second visit to Brighouse Bay. The first time we were camped in the big field at the far end and thought it was great. This year we camped on a serviced pitch which was okay. Did not realise how rowdy the park was at night. My kids aged 7 & 9 were frightened to go to the park as there were teenagers hanging about and they felt quite intimidated. Not experienced that before. when walking up to the clubhouse there were gangs of youths obviously at loggerheads with one another and they all seemed to be under the influence. Don't think I will go back. Really liked Seaward the sister park as they had a lovely park and it was a lot quieter. It is a nice are but the beach was not very nice all covered in seaweed even when you paddled in the water.

This is a great site, first time in a tent, although iv stayed before in tourer, static etc. The site is spotlessly clean, plenty of toilets sinks , showers, as well as en suite and mother and baby rooms.
It wins awards for preserving nature, note on approach to site and from beach, nothing can be seen to show park is there. For kids the duck ponds provide hours of amusement with fishing nets.
A holiday here can be as basic or commercialised as you wish, I prefer to give the licenced club a miss, but its popular with lots of people with entertainment every weekend.
The beach is a five minute walk, there is pony trekking, altho expensive, as is bike hire.
In short , a nice site, with plenty to do, note this is reflected in price , but worth it for the location. I recommend anyone try it at least once.

The best site in the country. We can't get enough of it. My partner used to come as a kid when it was just 2 fields and we have been twice a year since we bought our first tent 5 years ago. Everything you could ever want is at Brighouse, you can tour the area or now like we do, just have a really relaxing time without leaving the complex. Lovely walks, lovely beach, lovely big pitches. The facilities are excellent and even on a busy Bank Holiday weekend the toilets are kept clean. The shop is well stocked and the Club House serves good food. Can't wait to go again next month.

Lovely campsite, friendly staff, well run, clean and lots of facilities. We didn't use the pool but from what we saw, it was always busy. Went for a walk along some breathtaking cliffs, the walk was well worth it, beautiful scenery. The park is clean and spacious, the toilets are unisex so no losing the little kids etc. If you are going to tour Scotland, start your trip here, you won't be disappointed.

We visited this site in June as a party of two families, travelling up from Newcastle. Facilities were good; the kids absolutely loved it. Swimming pool was ideal for the kids and the clubhouse wrapped up each night with some stirring Scots nationalist anthems! Decent enough food too.
The shop was well stocked and rather encouragingly I have to say, sold only stockings and no tights! Maybe they have 'special weekends' up there! Great -- thoroughly recommended.

Have camped in our caravan at this site often and can only repeat the earlier comments - it really is a lovely site. Great for kids and great without (we love it and we don't have kids to take! We go for the walks etc). As the site is open all year we also visit during the winter as they have very comfortable, well equipped log chalets (amongst the best I've ever been to)and the price for a weekend is very reasonable (£100 for a weekend (2 nights) for a 3-bedroomed lodge- hard to beat).

August 2005 Best place we have ever been! Nothing else compares.
Huge pitch. Not too many rules - didn't feel as though we were being watched all the time. Clean toilets and showers - even a bath if you so wish. Easy access to beach. Well stocked shop. Beautiful place to spend a day or even several weeks. Children loved it here.
Only draw back was an occasional inconsiderate dog owner leaving muck behind for children to find.
Will definitely visit again (with poop-a-scoop)

August 2005 4 night stay (well should have been) 22nd to 26th. 2 adults 2 kids ages 9yrs and 5 yrs.
Brilliant site. Stayed here more or less same time last year. Should have been 4 nights this year but got hammered on 2nd night in storms AGAIN and lost this time. Had to abandon ship and run for our lives, (well into the car anyway). Poor old tent destroyed. Anyway as for the site. Top site. Good wide pitches. Not many electric hook-up pitches as we had though, about 10 I think. On-site golf course, pub with games room inc 10-pin bowling alley and pool with jacuzzi, snack bar and take-away. Pony trekking (you need to book in advance, a day or so usually) Small fishing pond and seperate canoe/kayak pond.
Beach is reached through small wooded area and is quite nice, when you get the weather!!! There is a nice coastal walk but be warned it is quit rocky and not suitable for young kids or the infirm. It goes right along the coast around the golf course. On site play area suitable for young and older kids. Bike hire available at a charge. Toilets and showers are unisex (wahey!!) and very clean and good sized, Showers are of an en-suit design ie: toliet and shower and washbasin all in one cubicle. Seperate toilets and seperate washrooms are also available. All are cleaned regularly. On-site shop very well stocked and open 'til about 8:30pm.
Nearby Kirkcudbright is 10 min drive away. Nice pub in town called The Royal Hotel. There is a nice park en-route to Kircudbright that is on the sea front with picnic benches and a small beach. All-in-all a very nice site and I would thoroughally recommend it, just beware of gales in August!!

August 2005 Just back from bonnie scotland...... what can I say, one of the best sites I have ever visited. We were booked in from Sunday night but arrived at about 8pm on Saturday to a lovely friendly welcome from the reception staff & as luck would have it our pitch was available so we were able to set up just before darkness fell and were only charged £5 for saturday night (such friendly people the scots). Fantastic fascilities and considering the site was so large, it still felt small and friendly and very quiet. We often struggle with space due to the size of our pitch but this was not the case here, huge pitches and quiet level. Toilets / showers spotless and no ques!!
