August 2005 Just back from Brighouse and can definitely say I will return. Lovely clean site, good toilet facilities, food at clubhouse is excellent. Good all round family fun. And a good relaxed atmosphere in all aspects. Kids loved the park, lots for them to do, hardly seen them. Liked the idea that at night, there was a warden who made sure all kids cleared from park once it got late. My only negative point was I felt that the lighting around the site was quite poor - especially when trekking from the main tenting areas to toilets during night.

August 2005 Excellent site. So much to do. Lost my 12yr old son to the golf for a week !!! Well stocked shop and reasonably priced. Superb pitching areas with loads of space. Toilets and showers blocks were first class. We will definitely return. Visited Kirkudbright (15min drive) and Dumfries (60mins).

July 2005 A good family site with plenty to do. Stayed 3 nights, pitches were a good size and well spaced out although ours was a bit unlevel (10G) which left us with quite a high step into the caravan. Well stocked shop for essentials, beach on doorstep, swimming pool, qauds, golfing and horseriding all onsite. 7 mls into kirkubright for supermarket Co-op and the better of the 2 Somerfields. The only thing I wasn't too keen on was the unisex toilets and showers. Would go back to this site again.

August 2005 just returned. Excellent site with big pitches. It's a big site but so well spaced out you don't feel like it is. The showers are excellent and spotlessly clean - as is the rest of the site. Loads to do - even if you don't like golf! The sky at night is awesome as is watching thousands of crows going home to bed! Very friendly - will definitely be going back.

May 2005 This is an excellent family site. Toilets & showers are great - very clean and the unisex cubicles are such a bonus. Hairdryers in there which run for quite a long time for 20 pence.
We had a great big pitch - good play area for the kids.
The indoor pool is good - a bit pricey (£5.00 for 2 adults & 1 child), but clean. The bar & bistro served excellent meals and had entertainment on every other night.
Pony Trekking was good fun - our 10 year old loved it.
Right on the beach so hours of fun there.
Good for all you golfers out there. Shop well stocked. Would definitely recommend and will return sometime soon.

March 2005 Arrived late evening to find very helpful staff ready to help us poor first timers who had mis-calculated the fantastic routemaker by about 2 hours. Personally continuing toward Gatehouse of Fleet seemed more accessible than through Kirkcudbright, although the drive along the waters edge was lovely once we'd sited the van ( Somerfield and Co-op in Kirkcudbright)
Helped to set up and then discovered the takeaway / restaurant at the golf club - after once again losing our bearings (watch out for the frogs though - must be that time of year again). Fantastic night sky.
Lots of space between vans and the facilities available were spotless and warm and inviting. Shop stocked with ample choice. Leisure club lovely - facilities and breakfast. Beautiful golf course with far reaching views. Facilities for even the most discerning teenage boys - quad bikes and horse riding weather permitting.
Space to unwind and listen to the peace and quiet. Nice sense of team spirit from fellow campers and everyone at Brighouse Bay. Well done.

September 2004 We loved this campsite, it is huge, well laid out, clean and staff are really helpful.
I went pony trekking which was great fun. There is a 18 and 9 hole course for golfers and good leisure facilities.
Would definitely stay there again. Top marks!

July 2004 Excellent site, a really big site but doesn't feel like it as it is split up by woodland. The tent pitches are huge, we could have put up a very large tent and still had plenty of room for playing football etc.
There is a fantastic coastal walk right on your doorstep, the private beach is only a very short walk away, the main kids play area is great for all ages (mine is 22 months) and there is also an indoor toddlers area and outdoor play area by the bar so you can enjoy a beer whilst watching the kids at the same time.
The shower and toilet blocks are very clean and the ensuite facilities are great for families. Hot and powerful showers and you don't have to pay for them. There is also a baby room with a baby bath and nappy changing area. Washing up facilities are good and there is also an ironing/laundry area (didn't use this though).
There is a good onsite shop which also does an ice pack service, great for us as we didn't have a fridge.
Plenty to do nearby, if you have kids I would recommend Cream O Galloway just 15 mins away and definately Mabie Farm Park in Dumfries, plenty to do there all day, take a picnic!
All in all a very enjoyable stay, will definately be visiting there again sometime.

July 2004 I have just returned from Brighouse Bay and have to say it's difficult to find any fault with this site. The staff are friendly and helpful, the tent pitches are spacious, clean and scenic, and the facilities are incredibly clean and modern. Even the food at the leisure complex is actually very good! Having read the earlier comments about the drainage, it seems work has been done because we did have one or two downpours and there was no flooding at all. It seems to me that the owners of this site could easily have crammed more pitches together (especially for tourers) and made more money but evidently decided to rely on people coming back because of the high customer care offered. They even have people coming round in the morning to pick up any rubbish lying around that had been left by the more irresponsible campers, not that it was a problem when we were there, but it's just the fact that they come round anyway that impresses me. The indoor swimming pool and adjoining steam room and jacuzzi are excellent, although I feel having paid slightly over the odds for a tent pitch I shouldn't have to fork out a fiver every time our family fancy a swim. THERE IT IS!! the one negative comment!! Ach well is there such a thing as the PERFECT campsite? Overall a fantastic place to stay and I would highly recommend Brighouse Bay to anyone. Oh and as a post script we had friends staying at the electric hook up area and they were a bit annoyed that the site had no ariel facilities for their TV. But hey, who needs a TV when you've got all that scenery?

September '98*99*00*01*02*03 Love this site although it is huge it never feels that way as areas are split up by woodland. The woodland walks are great, the views spectacular and on a clear night the whole night sky is there to view. The ensuite toilets are great epecially if you have a young family, everything is spotless. The leisure facilities are a plus as there is so much to do. My husband plays endless golf on a day ticket. We often have visiting hedgehogs and other wild life, do visit.
