Aug 2003 4 Nights mid week, Vango Vista 800, 2 adults, 2 kids (8 and 3). This is a big site that really doesn’t feel like it. It has static’s on the site but still feels like a touring park. We were on the bottom field and were left to find our own spot. It was very busy but still found a pitch at least 25ft from any other tent. Facilities are superb and never seemed too busy, hot powerful showers, kids play area in the middle of the site and another outside the clubhouse so you can enjoy a cool pint whilst watching the kids. Shop well stocked and reasonably priced. It has a small pool that cost a couple of quid per session. Or £5 for a family ticket. Beach only a short walk away, would recommend wet suit (it’s cold) and swimming when the tide is in. At low tide the water is very shallow for a long way out. Plenty to do nearby, Cream o Galloway and the Hydro electric plant well worth a visit if you have young kids.
Will definitely visit again. Highly recommended for short or longer stay’s.

June 2003 Brilliant Superb Facilites. Quiet and very peaceful. We thought at £10 a night for our little tent (James) it was expensive, but then when we had a look round we would happily have paid more.

1999 must agree with ian about the water but other than that wonderful site. pony trekking just off site. woodland walks. little private beach, even picked our own mussels for tea one night. got slightly worried about the jet skis zooming up and down but moved the children up the beach a bit and it was fine

July/August for last 10 years Our first camping experience was here and we've been spoilt as we haven't found a site that is better!!!
I'm sorry Ian had a bad experience-we were also there in August last year(tho in a touring caravan) and it did flood.
My brother-in-law was in a dome tent with his 3 children pitched next to the pond-I would have gone home(I like my home comforts)but he just moved to the other side and had a great time.
We were there a few weekends ago and there was signs of drainage work-so hopefully the problem has been resolved.
Our holidays here have been camping and caravanning and all have been enjoyable. The facilities are first class and staff are very friendly. The owner puts money into the site without taking away the 'space'.He could line up the caravans like dominoes but he doesn't(other sites do!).The site is partitioned off with trees, bushes and walls and you don't feel 'closed in'.There is also a lot of grassy areas for playing in-we like our boules, badminton, rounders, swingball etc. The shower and toilet blocks are immaculate-the staff obviously take pride in their work. The amenities are great-from the play area(do be warned-once you start pushing the swing you'll be there for a while-and the kids will love you!!) ,pond(kids have great fun catching 'tiddlers'-we were fascinated one year by the little frogs),pony trekking(have walked with kids on them but haven't got around to getting on a horse yet !-the views from the hills are lovely),swimming pool(I haven't been in when it's been too busy-chlorine CAN at times be strong although we have been advised it's the 'P' in the pool that's the problem!),games room-air hockey,10 pin bowling(that's me happy)pool & arcade games(only grumble-they took away shelf for sitting drinks on!),food-superb,service with a smile, own beach with plenty rock pools, shore and hill walks,golf-hubby plays and thinks it's great, to the shop-it is well stocked and prices very reasonable.
Surrounding area-lots to do.As a family I recommend Cream-o-Galloway adventure play(I did get to the top of the craws nest once-honest!!) and Kirkcudbright Wildlife Park. At Dumfies-DO go to Mabie Farm Park-a family run park-extremely friendly.
The changes we have seen in the park have all been for the good and serves to make a happy holiday experience.
IF....it could be better-I would suggest an upgrading of the play area-and an additional one as the site is getting bigger.
AND....at present although you can use amenities at 'sister' sites ,which is great,I think Brighouse would benefit from an outdoor pool.
P.S I am not a sales person for Brighouse-just a fan!

If its been raining beware - this is not a well drained site. Tent fields are particularly prone to flooding and this spoiled our stay here, in fact after 4 days we gave up and went to Belfast. Facilities are quite good and beaches are just a walk away. Indoor swimming pool tends to get crowded. Not a bad site but too wind swept and wet for us. (still looking for the gazebo- blew away on first night)
