We chose this site because of its proximity to the beach of Brighouse Bay and we wanted to explore on cycles the country lanes around Borgue etc.
The touring site is good with plenty of space but not much screening between pitches.
Washrooms etc are very good and very well maintained. There is a good shop on site where you can get most supplies.
They advertise a swimming pool which turns out to be a public swimming pool in a clubhouse which serves the golf course. All a bit commercial and busy. The games room was not what we expected as it is more of an amusement arcade.
They also have a slipway for boat launching which is a great facility.

WOW ! what a site. We have just got back after a very nice winters break, stayed on pitch G28 with our caravan and full awning, for there mini winter season, November 1st to March 26th 5 MONTHS and only £425. Best value ever. What a beautiful site with outstanding views of the area and the isle of man.
Now to the site facilities. Well over the winter months we have watched it being maintained and a complete overhaul by the staff and contractors. The ponds dredged, the trees and hedges pruned, the swimming pool emptied grouted & painted. Games room painted and all new machines. The shop was being restocked as we left. The shower/washing block has always been clean.
All in all we have a very good time and would like to thank the owners and workers for making our winter go too quickly. 100% happy. We will return

Just returned from a night's stay over the Easter break. On the whole the site is large and the grounds are kept very clean, the golf facilities are excellent. The site is let down, by having dirty facilities, especially the toilet block nearest the reception, they were very dirty, and for the amount of caravans / tents / motorhomes using these facilities they should be cleaned more then once a day.
The site also has some issues with its seasonal caravans, and it is very off putting driving onto your pitch and to drive past a broken down awning on a seasonal pitch, and then almost immediately come across another seasonal caravan with a badly fitted awning, whose roof is almost as green as the grass. Not really a good first impression on driving to your pitch.

JUST AMAZING 5 STAR CAMPING. this has always been in our top 5 friendly campsites. We have been visiting it for years and now it has got even better with all the work that is being carried out by the new owner. We can't wait to return here again well worth our 350 mile journey. Good clean shower blocks /good gravel and grass pitch / nice beach /very nice large playground / everyone helpful / beautiful views what more can one ask

Third trip to Brighouse and I'm glad to see they're keeping their standards up.
Yes, the games room isn't the best and okay, maybe the shop could do with some fresh tomatoes and onions but everything else is impossible to fault.
I can't understand people moaning about the showers. Perfectly clean, no breakages, spacious and loads of roasting hot water with loads of pressure. Perfect.
The whole site is still looking lovely as well. Grass was all neatly cut and the whole place was in full bloom.
Overall, it's a great site with loads for the kids to do - I'd rather they were out playing in the parks than inside in a games room any day!

Been going to this campsite for over 15years now and unfortunately it has been going downhill for the past few years.
The toilet blocks starting to get rundown, not looked after as it was but they are trying to do them up, in the unisex block one of the units has fungus growing near by the hand basin and this has been there for the past two years at least.
The fishing ponds are a total disgrace over grown unable to see through the green algae, the canoe pond overgrown and canoes unsuitable to use, the platform has six damaged planks which is going to cause injury soon.
Overall the site is very good but fully serviced sites need updating, nothing been done to them since we started going there, most of the hard standing pitches need re-graveling and the trees etc needs cutting back to stop the scratching of your caravan or tent. Only get eight channels on television hookup and unable to use free-view depending on site position.
The clubhouse is dated, meals pricey but passable, games room okay but some of the machines broken quite a lot of the time, Staff helpful and friendly, nice golf course, shop is fully equipped,
Mobile phone coverage very poor.
We love this site, and hopefully they can return the site to previous standards so we can continue to enjoy our stays.

This was our third visit to Brighouse Bay and we had a fantastic time, our young son had a ball. Its refreshing to see children enjoying the park, cycling etc, generally enjoying the outdoors instead of glued to tvs and computer consoles! Large shower block and toilets are great always clean and always hot water, a friendly, safe site.
My only faults with the site is the clubhouse could be doing with some money spent on it bring it up to date, food is good but dining area not very inviting.
There is a games room which could be doing with getting knocked down! Also partner was quite disappointed with the state of the fishing ponds which were not in that state three years ago when we first visited.

A very large site, staff very helpful. Our pitch was on hard-standing under tree (a dead one ), a little bit squashed in. Toilet / shower block (unisex) ok but en-suite cubicles mean not many single WCs, very busy at bank holiday. Considering it was full, site quiet in day and evening. Looks like many people have seasonal pitches.
Beach very close and walks in woods and round coast.
Did not visit clubhouse, pool, or golf courses. No WiFi but we knew this when we booked. 02 signal very intermittent but we did get BBC on TV without using their tv cable. (extra fee - can use your own- Our caravan has booster built in) Would not return due to price and size.
If you have children I am sure this would be a good site with all facilities and beach so close.
Kirkcudbright lovely town with Tesco and amazing fish shop with its own fish and chip shop next door.

Visited for four days and had a great time. Very friendly staff. Good pitches and a generally sheltered location. It is a big site but due to its clever layout you still feel like you are in a small, club site.
Superb Toilet/Shower blocks - I don't know what other reviewers expect but they were clean, smart and very warm. Really nice en-suite cubicles mean that having unisex facilities is no problem. I guess they could get pretty busy in the summer holidays.
The clubhouse/bar is admittedly a bit of an 'eighties time warp' and could do with sprucing up and a better menu. The staff were very helpful though. Nice pint of Guinness.
Great children's playground. (We are big kids after all. )
We went there for sea kayaking and it was a superb base for this activity.

We have been going to Brighouse regularly over the last 2 years and notice that the site is getting a little bit in need of a spruce up and re-investment.
Our last trip was over Easter weekend and we were surprised to find grass not cut yet and site was very busy. Grass cutter arrived following day however had to just cut round the odd empty pitch. The smaller toilet block is in a poor state with shower doors nearly all broken. Feels a bit dated however lots of hot water. Other toilet block is better.
This is still a fantastic site for families with the golf, clubhouse and swimming pool. Plenty of paths for children to cycle around. Shop is very good with most necessities and fresh rolls etc delivered every day.
The games room is a great idea but as always a lot of the games are broken/out of order - thought these would have been sorted for new season.
This would still not put us off going back but just hope things do not go further downhill.
