This site is a real find being in close walking distance to the charming down of Wallingford. The new toilet/shower block that has been built is absolutely fantastic - wish every other site could have such superb facilities. We will certainly be revisiting.

This is one of the nicest small sites I have ever visited. The owner and staff are friendly and helpful. We picked our pitch where we liked and although it was October there were plenty of others arriving. The facilities. What can I say WOW the best I have ever seen spotless and warm real luxury. Will be back very soon.

This site has gone on our “revisit” list. The best feature is the shower / toilet block: two storey brick and timber, heated and lit 24hrs. It opened this Spring and is kept very clean. The showers are free and the cubicles are generous; an undressing area with bench faces you as you enter and the shower is to your left. The controls are electronic and very responsive (the instructions are on the back of the door). Treat the whole floor as a wet area, especially as the water from a shower to your right will run across part of your undressing area. Just keep all your gear off the floor. Or better still approach it “old school” style and go along in dressing gown and flipflops. The upper floor will become holiday flats and a managers accommodation.
The site is one field with a road that loops through it. Pitches are flat and pegs go in easily. The marking is interesting: the only marker is a patio slab in the turf which marks front and centre of each pitch. This is easy enough for the pitches around the edge but you might have to ask the owners if you’re pitching in the middle of the field. There is no play/games area but as long as the middle of the field is empty, there is enough space if you respect the others around it. However, if the site was fully booked, children might be short of space.
If you are sensitive to noise you need to be aware of the following: this site is not in open county so you will hear town and traffic noise. At night the road past the site quietens but traffic stops outside the gate for traffic lights and just occasionally you might have a motorbike or a loud stereo out there for a couple of minutes; otherwise there is also a bypass in the distance. In the daytime there are always helicopters and aircraft overhead from nearby RAF Benson but that can keep kids (and me) amused. And on the subject of kids, across the road (follow the other campsite sign) is a very good paddling pool (free) and a heated lido, both of which we used. There is also a bridleway that connects to the Ridgeway Path, if you are walking that.
There is a small shop selling groceries and confectionery but there is also a village shop five minutes walk to the right of the gate and Wallingford Waitrose five minutes drive to the left.

A well priced family campground with outstandingly clean and tidy modern facilities. Close to the Thames, pubs and Waitrose shopping centre. There is a heated public pool nearby (£1.50). A bit noisy due to airfield nearby but only for 30-40 minutes or so. The site is well positioned for those using the number 5 cycle route.

Campsite clean and tidy, showers and toilets are brand new. They were cleaner than most 4 star hotels I have been to. Site is five minute walk to the Thames. There are many beautiful villages and options for boat hire in the area.

May 2005 Well after finally arriving, after a lengthy delay on the m40,i was informed that the 2 pitches i had booked with a deposit, had been took.So after expressing my dismay to the site manager(who seemed only concerned with cramming as many into the site as could be physically possible) he produced 2 pitches near the entrance and main road.
The site itself was of well kept grass with basic fascilities. The washing up area consisted of a hot water hose over a drain! The pitches are level, but of the size that you can just about get out of your car when your awning is up! Our pitches, which were by the main road, suffered from a fair amount of traffic noise. Plus theres a JCB service centre just opposite just to add insult to injury.
To be fair, the site is in a good spot for visiting Wallingford. And there are some lovely walks along the Thames. There is a Lido by the river which kept the kids happy and some good pubs which did the same for me.
Well I've seen it done it now and probably wont be going back. But dont let me put you off. I suppose for £14 a night over a bank hol i shouldnt moan. But i wont miss the distant mating call of a lesser spotted JCB!!

September 2004 This site is fairly small, with most of the pitches taken by permanently sited touring caravans. All the pitches have electric hook ups and are generous in size. The present facilities are tired and old, but having said that they were clean. They are presently building new facilities which from the outside looked very palatial. They will be open for next season. Once these are open I'm sure we will make a return visit.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the site was reasonably priced. Wallingford town was about a five minute brisk walk and had the normal facilities. An open air swimming pool operates from April to early September. There is easy access to the river Thames and boats can be launched a fields walk from the site. We will be back!
