This is a truly breathtaking and beautiful site, situated right next to the Norfolk broads and simply has to be the best kept secret in Suffolk.
It caters for a small number of caravans/tents or motorhomes with the usual hook-up facilities. There is a small indoor pool open from early till late, which is immaculately clean and family friendly, they even serve breakfast or lunch in a small cafe area. Ideal for those camping. The site shop was well stocked. I must mention the toilets and showers, they were simply outstanding, so clean and with plenty of room, none of this cubicle malarky, these are a proper room all to yourself. Right next to the site is a lovely pub which serves good food.
For a truly magical experience why not hire a boat from the Waveney Centre and explore the Broads. (how many sites offer that?)I will let you learn about all the environmental awards the centre has won. Last but not least is the Waveney centre staff, they are so helpful and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay as easy and pleasant as possible, they fully realise that it is YOUR relaxation, holiday time and they work hard to ensure that your stay with them is just perfect.
Be aware that due to the location of the centre, it is a little off the beaten track, but this is also part of what makes it so special, you are truly out in the country next to the Broads, we spent many hours exploring the lanes and footpaths around the area with our dog.

We visited the site for a 4 day break over the weekend having booked back in February to secure a pitch with electric.
The reception staff were extremely helpful as was Steve, the member of staff who showed us to our pitch and explained the site rules.
The site soon filled up to capacity making the tenting area feel a little cramped. However there are great views from every pitch (and the washing up sinks!) across the Marina and busy river.
Plenty to see and do around the park and we all enjoyed the day boat we hired from reception which allowed us to explore the river as far as Reedham and Oulton Broad.
The swimming pool is payable per session but was clean and quite quiet whilst we were staying. Take goggles as the water seems to be treated with a high dose of chlorine.
Toilet block is pretty unique with individual wet rooms all well equipped. Did have to wait for rooms to become vacant at busy times but no more than 5 minutes. As the site was very busy, cleaning frequencies needed to be increased as the washroom floors soon got covered in grass cuttings.
All in all a lovely, small site, with great views allowing you to sit back, relax and watch the boats sail by! We will certainly be booking again for next year!

Just spent a week here with the family. What a great place to stay the site was very clean and the staff that booked us in were very friendly and helpful. The shop had loads of stuff to go at and to keep you going. The toilets / shower rooms were always clean and not matter what time of day there was always hot water. The swimming pool although not massive was enough to keep my two boys happy, again this was very well maintained and the cafe was clean and tidy with very friendly staff.
The Waveney Inn pub which is also on site was spot on the food was great and the portions superb as for the staff they couldn't do enough for you, also very family friendly. The pitches ranged from basic to fully serviced so dependent on what you want they can cater for it, The views from all pitches over look the the water ways of the broads or the mooring area for boats, and let me tell you the views that we had were great.
We will certainly go back. All I would say that there is not a lot near by, so you will have to travel a few miles to get to big shops etc, but if your happy to chill out or take a trip on the broads or go for long bike rides like we did then this is the place for you.

Had a lovely stay at Waveney River Centre Friday evening through to Sunday lunchtime. As per other reviews, the road in is a nightmare - very narrow, just pray you don't meet another tourer coming the other way!
Realised on the way we were going to be arriving after 5.30pm so phoned the office shortly after 5.00pm but there was no-one there, just a recorded message saying to leave a message. We were a little concerned as no-one phoned back and we hadn't been there before, but when we arrived we were met by a very helpful chap who lives on one of the barges and stands in for the staff out of hours.
The pitch for the tourers was on the high ground at the top of the site which was fairly level, unlike the tent pitches further down the hill!
The pool had just been reopened, which the kids loved. The cafe was still being refurbished, as was the jacuzzi and sauna.
The children enjoyed playing on the play equipment.
The loo block was great - clean with hot showers. We used the family shower rooms with loo, sink and shower all in one 'wet-room'.
The shop was well stocked apart from breakfast bits as were looking last minute, owing to finding out that the cafe was shut for our cooked breakfast!
We had one meal in the pub, which was OK, although a little expensive and the quality of the food average. The service was great and staff very friendly though.
We would definitely stay again, although maybe not at the height of the summer season, as I think the facilities would get very crowded.

We visited the site after looking through the many listings on this website and were looking for somewhere near water to try our new boat.
What an ideal location it was. We were able to pitch our tent right by the marina and were 10 metres away from our boat.
We were pitched on one of the 'coot' pitches with ehu as they are the ones closest to the water and also the flatest and of a good size.
On arrival we went to reception and were greeted by a pleasant lady who smiled (something that lacks on some sites)and it was located in the large well stocked shop selling just about everything you might need. Food, drinks, fishing tackle and also camping items plus all the maps and information you might need for your stay.
Just 100 metres away was the on site pub with a good menu and good range of drinks and also evening entertainment etc.
Also on site there is an indoor swimming pool with a cafe where you can get breakfast and snacks if you want. I think the pool charges were reasonable and an ideal way of spending a morning or afternoon especially if the weathers bad.
There is also a children's playground on site.
The nice thing that we found was the wetrooms on the site. You have a toilet, washbasin and shower all in your own room. (fantastic. No trudging around from block to block) Plenty of hot water too.
Overall we thought the site was very good and we will return.

Just returned home from Waveney River Centre. We were staying on one of the Moorhen pitches which over looking the marina River Waveney. Was brilliant to wake up to that view of a morning.
The campsite offers a quiet location but with the advantage of all the facilities on site. We hired one of the Canadian canoes and canoed to oulton broad and back one day.
The toilets and showers were always clean any time of the day but we were here out of season.
Once away from the country lanes leading to and from Waveney the major roads can be accessed to get to all the major attractions in a short space of time. Recommend a visit to Southwold.
Recommend this campsite to anyone.

Visited Waveney river centre for a weeks holiday.Beautiful location, fantastic shop selling everything you would need for camping, although a little pricey. The road in, is a single track lane for 4 miles which did get a little monotonous after a while as we went to great Yarmouth every day. The pool is lovely but thought that was quite dear, 3.80 adults and 2.50 kids. Our pitch was possibly the worst for our tent as it was sloping and we couldn't put our canopy on the front, so we had to buy a gazebo to cook under. Also had a problem with ants and although we were fully built in they still managed to march their way in via our television ariel.
The shower /toilet / sink / hairdryer were excellent, just a code and everything was yours in one room. The Waveney inn was excellent selling fab food and real ale. All the staff were friendly and we were made to feel really welcome. The boat hire was an experience and lovely which we hired for the day but would say half a day would be adequate.
All in all a lovely stay, would recommend the Coot pitches as they are all flat and over look the marina.

We have just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday at The Waveney River Centre. We shall certainly be returning again. The facilities are 1st class. Toilets and showers exceptional. A friendly family pub which serves food although we did not eat there but others said it was good. The swimming pool was brilliant as was the food in the cafe, very reasonably priced, a good fried breakfast was enjoyed by the 4 of us.
The site itself is very clean and well laid out. Pitches for motorhomes and caravans are perfectly placed to overlook the marina and relatively flat. We were on pitch 9 which was away from the road entrance and suited us very well.
Staff were very friendly on reception and in the shop. Everything you could need can be purchased there. Food was a little pricey as you would expect but gift, camping and other nik naks were priced well.
We hired a boat for an afternoon and enjoyed it so much that on our return booked it again for a full day.
The weather was wonderful which also added to our great holiday. We only wished we had booked a longer stay.
I did notice that there were no actual dog walk area,s unless you went along the country lanes, but this didn,t seem to put people off as lots of dogs were on site. Unfortunately we didn,t take ours as the journey from Scarborough would have been too long, especially as the weather was so hot. Dogs are allowed in the pub and on the hire boats.
The only downside we noticed was that the showers and toilets could have done with a bit more house-keeping. Take your flip-flops to wear in the wet rooms.
This place is a little gem and is so peaceful and tranquil. We felt totally relaxed as we sipped our wine and watched the wonderful boats cruising in and out of the marina.

We visited for 4 nights over half term and found the site without too many problems and the setting is beautiful.
Check in was very easy and straight forward and we were directed to our pitch where a chap was waiting to show us where to pitch.
On booking I was told the pitch was on a slight incline and the car would park on the incline with most of the pitch being flat. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a mis-sell as our tent is quite big (Outwell Vermont) and there was only one way it would fit on the pitch which meant the incline was front to back and severe enough that you couldn't put a drink on the table as it slid off!
This didn't necessarily spoil our stay but we'll be more careful about choosing a pitch if we book in the future.
The pool is lovely, but it closed at 5pm every day - usually around about the time we got back from days out so having paid for a family pass we didn't use it as much as we'd have liked - interestingly, the people staying in the holiday homes on the site had a special key which gave them access till 8pm! Campers are not special enough to obtain one of these keys!
The shop is well stocked but a little pricey - much as you would expect as it is a convenience store! The pub was nice with quite a good menu and reasonably priced.
The shower facilities are some of the best we have ever seen - individual wet rooms with your own personal entry code and very clean.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Apart from the slope we had a lovely time and would go again

Stayed here for a long weekend in May.
Good points - Beautiful location, the site is right on the river surrounded by beautiful countryside.
Toilets and Showers very clean, pool looked nice but we didn't use it so can't comment.
Site was tidy and well maintained. The shop was excellent had everything you could need for a short stay and the staff were friendly. Nice children's play area and plenty of boats to hire out from the reception area.
Bad points the road into this site for the main part is not much wider than a caravan / lorry. The signage is awful and after speaking to the managers they have asked us to contact Norfolk county council apparently it the only way to get more signs put up.
A warning, do not follow sat nav instructions to this site, phone them and they will explain the best way in. The only other thing I would say would be if you have a long outfit do not drive up to the reception / shop we did and had to turn around narrowly avoiding the dinghys. I would drive down Burgh Road and at the end when you come to the Site turn left towards the church and then right into the site, wait there until you have booked in.
We were in a van and our pitch was level but some of the tents looked like they were pitched on quite a slope.
Now we have worked out the 'way in' we would go again.
