Waveney river centre site was a great place to stay ! The staff were very friendly and obliging. Pitch was overlooking the marina. The showers were very clean with hot water. Individual rooms with toilet sink shower and hairdryer / which was free. We used the Ferry daily to cross the river to walk all day. Pub was very nice too! We take our own food so didn't sample the food. Evening food started st 6pm. Shop well s stocked with a nice gift section too.
We will return!
The drive from East Sussex was a good route.
So all in all a successful holiday.

We went to Waveney River Centre for a long weekend with a large family group with ages from 3 to over 70 years. The accomodation was a touring caravan, 2 Yurts, 1 Escape Pod and 3 Tents. We ate and drank in the on site Waveney Inn and hired a large cruising boat for a day. We used the swimming pool and all the facilities! I reckon we gave the site a complete road test!
We are very happy to report that this site is a real gem from every aspect - beautiful location, good clean and tidy amenities and helpful and polite staff. Our 15 person Sunday lunch in the Inn with nearly everyone ordering something different didn't faze them and was excellent. As was the beer! Four proper well kept and delicious cask ales were on tap.
Something we noticed was that the grounds were very clean and tidy with a regular crew of litter pickers.
Be prepared for a 5 mile run on narrow roads to the site but if you follow the site's instructions the road has plenty of passing places. We towed a big rig down, took it steady, and had no problem.
It was a really good stay and we will be going again.

I camped at the Waveney River Centre for 2 nights on one the Pintail pitches. The campsite was quite easy to find - it is marked on google maps, and selecting that location meant the satnav took us right there. There are also signposts for the last few miles which take a different route from the satnav down slightly wider roads. Whilst I stayed, the site was relatively empty. It was a peaceful site with great views over the river. We ate at the Waveney Inn where the bar staff were very friendly and the food was great. We also took a swim in the pool which was nice and refreshing - there was a hot tub as well as a small pool for swimming/paddling in.
The showers and toilets in the campsite were excellent - probably the best I've ever been to at a campsite.
We also hired a kayak for a day which was straightforward. We were leant a map of the surrounding area as well as a dry bag to keep valuables safe. The location meant we had the option of exploring the river Waveney as well as Oulton Broad.
Walking, most of the places to go are the other side of the river, and there is no bridge nearby the campsite for many miles. The campsite runs a ferry service across the river - though when we were there, this was more like a taxi - you called a phone number when you wanted to cross, which made it convenient as we didn't need to ensure we crossed at a particular time. However, this might operate to a regular schedule or something in high season.

The final few miles of road before arriving were a bit narrow but plenty of passing places. On arrival we were greeted with friendly helpful faces and advised where our pitch was. As we were just having a quick weekend to see if the site would be suitable for a longer summer holiday we were set up without an awning in no time. The views are superb and couldn't be more relaxing. So, off to the pub (the Waveney Inn) for lunch and what a lovely place it is to eat. Great service and great food, I would highly recommend. The camp site was just what we were looking for to spend a week with my ten year old daughter. Walks, boats, bikes, pool and a great little play area. We are going back!

Beautiful setting, very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely meal in the Waveney Inn (with dog allowed in), had a very enjoyable swim, used the ferry to cross the river to walk to Oulton Broads. Toilets and showers all clean, shop reasonably priced and plenty of staff to ask for help. Had torrential rain when there, and site drained nicely - no huge puddles.
Will definitely return soon

When we visited we were the only tent and in Anglers Corner, if I have to start with the bad I would have to list these first:
1) None of the maps showed where anglers corner is and with a six man tent on your back its a fair walk. Even checking back and with hindsight the images still don't show where it actually is - for reference when you look at the map its right at the end after all the pintails.
2) Mole hills - I know this is specific to the spot where we stayed and also to the pintails to a lesser degree - but they do state that its not managed and we can vouch for that.
3) The Inn - now depending on your tastes this may very well not be a down side - the Inn is very much like a well run hotel - very clean, professional and the food is good, but its just not what I would expect of an Inn attached to a campsite - now if I were staying in one the expensive penthouses or the hotel rooms then its exactly what I'd expect, so horses for courses as they say.
4) On this side of the river you can't walk all that far by the water.
Now to the good.
1) The pool, we only used it once, but it was really good, clean and the kids loved it.
2) The Inn food, very nice - I loved that the coleslaw was home made and although at first I thought it overpriced it seems for the area its actually very reasonable.
3) The views - although I personally prefer mountains and lakes its very nice and relaxing.
4) The staff - all were very friendly and helpful when needed, especially the cleaner who sadly I forget the name of but she was incredibly helpful.
5) The option to hire water craft - I wish we'd had better weather so we could have actually hired a canoe (presuming we would have been allowed given we'd be two adults with two kids wanting a Canadian)
6) The Church, only a short walk round the corner - well worth a quick wander as its really unusual.
7) The info center - anything under an hour has a little sticker on it saying how far it is by car - very helpful - a great piece of thinking that we found very handy when choosing where to go.
8) The kids playpark - although some of it could do with a repair the kids enjoyed it.
9) The heron :)
The so-so
1) Nothing seems to be that close - or that far if you're happy enough to drive for a bit.
I hope that sums it up for you and I would recommend going there and it was a great place to stay.

Lovely site, clean and well kept, hard standings with good road to them. Staff all very friendly and helpful, lovely pub the food was very good and you didn't have to wait long for it to be served. Showers and toilets kept clean. Nice peaceful site. Road to site was narrow but you expect this in rural locations.

The site is currently updating their pitches to hard standing and looking good. The shower and pool is still to a high standard. The staff are very good and very friendly. Site is not the biggest in the area but has some of the best facilities on offer. We tried the pub and restaurant and was well pleased with the Sunday lunch on offer. Pool very good and warm even in march and February. The site is not suitable for those if you are looking for the arcades and bingo halls of the coast, but very good if you are looking for charm of the broads. The roads are typical country roads to site, but are easy to navigate at sensible speed.

I visited Waveney River Centre in February 2017 for a long weekend in our T4 camper. The pitch we were able to chose before our visit was very nice and the new access road made it much easier to get to than last year it was no longer muddy. The view from the top pitches is very nice, across the marina and river. The swimming pool was also really nice and was a nice warm retreat in the cold February weather. We also visited the Waveney Inn for a drink which was good. We will definitely visit again.

Where to start. On arrival down the well documented difficult road we parked and, following instructions, reported to Reception - but there were no directions to said reception. We found it with the help of other guests and received a friendly welcome. On the way we saw our pitch on Kingfisher at the top of the site.
The plus points are
- a lovely setting by the marina
- a pub which serves an extensive menu on site
- a swimming pool on site
- a reasonably well stocked shop by reception
- friendly and helpful staff
However
- our pitch was very scruffy with the electric hook up just about buried in a bush with the socket at the back. I was stung by nettles three times connecting up
- the shower block is described as a luxury experience and the individual rooms with toilet, shower, wash basin and hair dryer are a good idea but they are looking a bit tired and not well maintained
- the WiFi is legendary among staff and guests for being non-existent but when I asked whether it might be better in the pub I was told it was the same as the site wifi. It took me three days to discover that the wifi inside the pub works very well.
- you can book a boat from reception and a notice in the facilities block says that you can book a sky dive. I tried to order a particular newspaper to be delivered because there are daily papers delivered to reception. I was given three different reasons from different members of staff as to why this was impossible or impractical. Really? A newsagent delivers papers but he cannot be persuaded to add a different one.
- the dog walking is done in a field behind the site, which is ok, but one member of staff, when asked, didn't seem to know much about it
In general this site has the potential to be a brilliant experience but, while the staff do their best, the overall management of the site seems to be to do just enough. Our 'hardstanding' pitch was actually a grass pitch with hard plastic matting which over time had sunk in to the ground unevenly and had bare, sandy patches. Given the setting and potential a little investment in the site itself wouldn't go amiss.
