Lovely site, ideal setting but let down badly by the toilet/showers and washing up facilities. The washing up area needs a light and hot water would be nice!
The toilets and showers were in relatively new blocks but were need of a proper clean and not just a token gesture once a day if that!! (It really needs a through springclean inside and on the outside!) Free showers would be nice as we've found on numerous similar campsites around the country.
There were plenty of people complaining about the cleanliness and hygene of the site and hopefully the management will listen and sort it out!

May 2005 Had a really nice time here. Went just before the Bank Holiday and so was the only tent on site for 2 days. The site office gave us a warm welcome and allowed us to pitch anywhere we liked on the site accept close to the marinas edge...for obvious reasons. We had a lovely few hot sunny days. The toilets were clean. The showers (£1 for 5 min) were push button and a little too hot (were not able to adjust the temp). Wash up area was ok. Only 2 sinks though.
On the down side our fab pitch turned out to be allocated to a group of four tents to arrive on day 3 of our stay. They had been promised the corner we had selected. A man called Doug who is resident on site seemed to be coordinating the bank holiday pitches. However the office people (who allowed us to pitch) and doug had failed to communicate. Cosequently there were 5 tents all on top of each other and two disapointed groups. Fortunatly the large group were very considerate and after some re-parking of vehicals every one seemed satisfied. The tent area is on quite a steep slope and would not be great for tents.
The marina was lovely. I spent each morning watching the large boats and yachts comming and going whilst having breakfast. Many of them hire boats full of arguing budding captains. Great spot for people watching. The onsite indoor pool was lovely and warm. The pub and resturant was fantastic. there was a non-smoking childrens room with pool, table air hockey and games machines as well as a generous table areas inside and out.
The onsite shop was very well stocked. Passing boats stop to get provisions and re-fuel. The shop allows free re-freezing of ice blocks. There is some building work on site which to the untrained eye looks to be near completion. The site is well located for Great Yarmouth. Overall 8/10 and I would consisder a re-visit. If your into boating and stuff this place would be fab.

April 2005 The site is under new management and we found it disappointing in the light of earlier reviews. Though there is plenty of space available, campers were forced to pitch their tents very close to eachother at the bottom of the site. Showers and toilets were only cleaned once per day and were very dirty by the morning. There was a lot of building work going on to create new chalets and shop.
The main problem we found was the geese which kept us awake for much of the night with their honking and which had covered the site in large droppings.
The shop was well stocked and the bar/restaurant on site was excellent, while the surroundings are beautiful, but these didn't make up for the drawbacks of the site.

September 2004 Just returned from a short break, although we hired a static caravan on this occasion. We were so impressed with the site that we booked for two weeks next summer with our trailer tent. A very picturesque site with Marina and direct access to the River Waveney. The site has its own slipway and is ideal for boating and fishing enthusiasts.
We found all the staff extremely helpful and friendly and the facilities were spotless. Weekly passes may be purchased for the swimming pool which greatly reduces the cost if you intend to use it regularly. Pub on site which serves very good meals and has a childrens room. Well worth a visit!

August 2004 Visited over August Bank Holiday weekend and was pleasantly surprised that it was not overcrowded. Perhaps the weather had something to do with it!!
The River Centre is easy to find, but the campsite itself could do with a signpost (down a single lane signposted "To Church Only"). Although the electric pitches are reasonably level, the non-electric pitches slope down towards the river. There was a fair bit of flooding when we visited too. The showers/toilets are kept very clean but there is a charge of £1 for a 5 minute shower. This is not mentioned on their website. The swimming pool was very nice though (and the showers in here were free!) Next door is a lovelly pub with carvery. Child friendly too. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced.
Overall the campsite was ok. Superb setting, right on the marina. Very pleasant to watch the boats coming in and out. Not the best we've visited but neither was it the worst!

August 2004 Nice little site with a friendly welcome. The Waveney Inn and restaurant are second to none, with cheap, first class meals served by friendly, efficent staff and a lovely pub ajcent to the eating place. The river is pretty and the shop well stocked. On a negative, the centre boasts a 'Leisure Centre'; be warned, this is VERY exagerated and is a TINY building with a small pool and not much else, plus a charge on top of everything else! 2 showers only for both sexes, but clean. We were horrified to find a charge of £1 for a shower, and that boats on the moorings are only charged £9.00 per night with vouchers, and campers are charged £19.00 and all for the same facilities! PRECARIOUSLY narrow lanes to gain access to the site, so caravans be aware!

June 2004 We booked as it was Bank Holiday weekend but it wasn't too busy. Still plenty of space for the children to play and a play area. Nice ground with lovely views over the marshes and marina. Clean toilets and a charge is made for the showers. Swimming pool extra charge of £10.00 per family per visit. Well stocked shop but remember to order your newspaper before 4pm the day before.
