This site is good for the novelty factor of looking at all the boats and hiring one for a day. The shop on site is good for essentials and the small swimming pool is handy for rainy days however the water was very cold and the changing facilities very strange as you have to walk through the reception area to get to the pool and back. The toilet block was always cleaned at its busiest time in the morning and evening and the layout of the shower block is such that you can't see if showers are available on the other side as it is a square block. The family showers are good though for washing the little ones. The pitch sizes are tiny. We had heron the first pitch on the site and it was really difficult to park the car there but we were told that we would have to pay an additional £5 per night to park it in the main car park! Although heron pitches are advertised as the smallest pitches we actually seemed to have more space than others and to be honest some caravans and tents only seemed to have 1 or 2 feet between them! There is no entry barrier to the park. We ate in the pub one night and found the food to be expensive for what it was as it was of average quality.
There was a horrible 'drain' smell near the wooden lodges.
Overall I'm glad we went for the novelty factor but would not want to go again. We stayed 4 nights and towards the end we were feeling claustrophobic as there just wasn't much space.

We have just returned from a week at the Waveney, really good site, had one of the water front pitches which had plenty of room and fantasic view.
The toilet blocks were very clean. They have 10 individual we rooms also which have a number entry system, each wet room has it's own shower, toilet and sink also hairdryer.
There is also a pool on site which is included in price for all residents, very clean.
There is a well stocked shop on site and also a pub on site which was newly refurbished this year.
Overall very good site and would definitely recommend staying here.

We were 4 families staying on both the Bittern and Moorhen pitches. We had visited the site before as we live nearby, so knew the site fairly well.
We had a fairly wet weekend, but still found the ground to be rock hard, so it was quite hard to get the pegs in. The pitches were small, but the site is quite small too. The view from the pitch was lovely, overlooking the broads.
We found the site to have all we could possibly need for both adults and children. We dined at the Waveney Inn on the Friday night, and as there were 24 of us in total (we also had friends in the pods) we had pre ordered, so our food was delivered very quickly. The food was pretty good and the service was friendly. There are a couple of 2p shove machines in the pub which was a nice touch for the children.
The on site shop was well stocked, although didn't open until 9 and shut at 5. Our friends were caught out on the 1st morning without milk.
The shower/toilet blocks were always clean and warm and there seemed to always be one free. There is also another block of toilets near the washing up area which were nice and clean too. The washing up area was really nice and very clean.
The children had hours of fun on the small playground, and we used the pool (but not until the private swimming lessons had finished at 12pm) on the Saturday morning. It was very warm and the jacuzzi was boiling! The poolside cafe served a nice breakfast but you had to wait a long time for it. The older chap that worked at the cafe was a delight though. Really sweet and lovely with the children.
We hired kayaks from the reception and had a lovely hour on the broads.
All in all we were really impressed with the campsite. There was
So much to do in such a compact site. We will definitely come back for our annual get together.

Stayed on Coot 1, front row of the camping pitches.
Great facilities.
Approximately 8 shower rooms with shower/toilet/wc, with underfloor heating. Never had to wait.
Separate heated toilet block and undercover washing up area.
Swimming pool with Jacuzzi (we didn't use even though it was included in the price)
Shop selling a fab range of items from clothes to food to booze, also gifts.
Newly refurbished Waveney Inn, which had nice food, although slighly lacking in atmosphere (don't think they entertainment licence is in place yet, though its been applied for).
No problems getting the car on / off the pitch even at busy times.
Hired a day boat, had a brilliant time visiting Somerleyton and Oulton Broad.
Booking again for next year. :-)

Just came back from 6 nights. We had booked one of the Coot pitches (largest available). We arrived the Saturday of the Witsun bank holiday (after per longed rain), pitch somewhat waterlogged. Had no choice to pitch our extension in a puddle. Soon realised as the site filled up that if I did not move my car, then it would be blocked in. ( an extra £5 per night that was not planned). The campsite was full. No 6M rule in operation as on many pitches the guy ropes were overlapping.
As a result the campsite was very noisy with so many people in a small area, did not help due to the river cruisers moored up on top of us on a mobile pub crawl.
On arrival, information was functional rather than welcoming.
Swimming pool OK, but absolutely no supervision. Changing facilities different as you get changed and have to walk back to the entrance / cafe to gain access to / from the pool.
Building work ongoing on the site, new pub a pleasant atmosphere, but food average.
Showers were cleaned regularly, but due to the quantity of people and the wetness of the grass, walkways became mud paths, so washrooms suffered.
Would I go again, yes, BUT not at peak periods. This is a money making enterprise for the owners and not for the campers.

Oh my god! What an amazing site. From the beautiful view from our pitch, to the immaculate toilet and shower blocks, to the incredible food served in the on site bar and restaurant, right up to the wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. We stayed at the Waveney River Centre for a week and when our stay was over, we wished that we had booked a longer trip.
The site was great for our two children who enjoyed the swimming pool, the park and the boating. (We hired a boat for a day from the on site marina) This was not only reasonably priced but an extremely fun day out on the Norfolk Broads.
The only negative for this site is the slightly scary access when towing a touring van. We were lucky enough that, having stuck to the arrival and departure times to the letter, that we did not encounter any oncoming tourers upon arrival or exit. Please be sure, if you are towing, to make sure you follow the online instructions on navigating to the site, and ensure that you arrive after 12. 00 midday and exit before 11. 00 am. Wonderful site though and well worth the nail biting last ten minutes of the journey.

Read the reviews on this site. The site is great and the staff are friendly. The on site pub had just reopened and the food was reasonable and their breakfasts are well worth the visit, so much we went twice. It was not a busy time of year so using the pool was fantastic as had it to ourselves at times but we would not want to be in it in the summer as it is small. We stayed in a pod which was fantastic and kept us warm with the heater. There were no tents just a few tourers. I would visit this place definitely in off peak times but not peak as it all feels tightly packed together If all the spaces were in use. The tent pitches had a lot of stones on it so we would not camp here but definitely will be back to stay in a pod between march to April or sept to oct.

Very nice site. To risk repeating what has been said before the site is part of a larger complex centred around a Marina on the river Waveney, part of the Broads. We were in our caravan pitched on a fully serviced site for three nights during the February half term.
There are also lodges, a few statics, pods and I believe apartments in addition to the touring area. The caravan area sits at the top of the hill overlooking the tent area leading down to the marina. The views out of the front window down over the marina, the river Waveney and across the valley are lovely. During our stay unsurprisingly there was no tents and only a maximum of five caravans or motorhomes at any one time so it was lovely and quiet.
The facilities are excellent, free to use is a small swimming pool and jacuzzi which kept our kids and ourselves happy; nice and warm too. The washroom facilities are great with individual washrooms, spacious enough for two if necessary and critically with under floor heating so in mid February comfortable to use. There is also a Mace shop part of the reception area.
You can hire day boats to tour the broads, although we didn't. We used the ferry to cross the river on the Saturday and walked the dogs about two miles to Oulton Broad. Not much there but still a good day out with the opportunity to get some fish n chips for lunch.
Some small grumbles, the swimming pool changing rooms were not cleaned regularly enough, the shop sold us a loaf of bread four days out of date and I would have loved in mid winter to have had the option of hard standing pitches. However nothing to put me off returning.
The site is well signposted from Haddiscoe. The approach road is narrow and whilst there are passing places they are often little more than field entrances. I would not like to meet a caravan coming the other way so would advise leaving before 11. 30 and not arriving until after 12. 00. We were lucky but this was February, not sure what it would be like during the more popular holiday seasons.
We had a lovely break and would highly recommend the site.

Motorhomes beware! I'm sorry to say this is the first time I have ever had or felt the need to leave a negative review. We booked this sight for four nights over the phone after looking and reading the reviews from this sight this was a last minute booking arriving the next day, the reason we had to book over the phone was, the sight seemed to have a slight problem with their web booking system. All went well until we turned up at the sight. We followed their arrival instructions to the letter, this took us down a sometimes very narrow single road track that is approximately 4 miles long, as you enter the sight their is a large dip, for motorhomes on low chassis you will probably bottom out so beware. As we turned onto the site the first pitches along the hedge they call heron, were in our opinion very small, with little space between pitches, also each pitch was very uneven. On the plus side the out look was quite nice overlooking the marina, The rest of the pitches all looked either to close together or on uneven ground. When we went to reception we found out that the clubhouse was closed, so we would be unable to get a meal or a drink, this was important as this sight is remote for people with motorhomes (you are advised to use the one route in and out of the sight 8 mile round trip) then the nearest town Beccles, is approximately a further 7 miles, with no bus service near the site and a round trip of about 16 miles on bikes, with our bad backs this was a non starter, we explained the situation to the people at reception and asked why they had not warned us about the club house at the time of booking, they replied it was on the confirmation email, I showed them the email as I had it with me and their was no mention of the club house on it at this point their attitude seemed to change and become very unpleasant. They had no argument but still only offered us three nights money back as a good will gesture. We took this and could not get of the site quick enough, we went onto a very nice site in Bungay. We all like different sites but this I would not recommend to anyone, however Caravans have flexibility of a car, were as motorhomes have a long bumpy round trip.

'This was our first experience camping and we wanted to choose somewhere that had good reviews. We were not disappointed. The toilets and shower blocks were lovely. A very good standard. The water was nice and hot and there is a hairdryer, shower seat, your own toilet sink and shower unit big enough for two. Even in the middle of the night the toilet blocks are warm and well lit. Pub was closed due to refurbishment but we made were aware of that and stocked up before we came. Saying that it looks great and can't wait to come back next year once it opens in March. Lovely shop and play area. Laundry facilities. Pretty much everything you need. On arrival we were met by the warden who was really friendly and extremely helpful. The lady in the shop was running the shop and reception and was the friendliest person you could meet. Always had time for us whatever we wanted to talk about. Every person we met stopped to say hello. Wonderful surroundings, peaceful and great views overlooking the water. If you are looking for a clean, friendly park with great standards then you absolutely come here. This was our first ever camping trip so it was important to choose the right venue as we didn't really know what we were doing. After visiting Waveney, we can only hope that every campsite we visit from now on is up to this standard. We will definitely visit this place again. '
