We stayed on this site for 4 nights in May 2008 and found it relaxing and visually a very attractive site, despite the rather inclement weather conditions. We arrived in the pouring rain and were completely soaked by the time we had put up the awning, although it was well worth it! Remember your wheel chocks if you pick a ‘Heron’ pitch as we did, which is on quite a severe (for a caravan pitch) gradient.
The best advice we can give you about coming to this site is on arrival follow the brown tourist signs which seems to put you on an unofficial caravan one way system, as the roads are extremely narrow with limited passing places. If you were to come up against another towing vehicle coming the other way there would be a long blind reverse manoeuvre imminent!
The pitches are of a generous size and there is ample room for car, caravan and awning. There is a small well used swimming pool and sauna. Showers and toilets were clean and free. There is a pub on site which we ate in and really went to dry off on our first night. The food is good, and there is also a family room which meant we could enjoy quiet, child free ambience.

We booked this site at the last minute for the bank holiday weekend. The road to the site is incredibly tight and necessitated several cars reversing some distance to allow us to pass. The site is right by the marina, and to be honest feels as if the camping area is a bit of an afterthought. The pitch we were allocated sloped quite a lot, was right next to the marina, but also next to the car park, which was fine when the boat owners went home in the evening, the views of the marina were lovely. Lots of tents, not too many pitches with hook up. The fees were quite expensive, but there were 4 of us so averaged out ok.
There is a pub on site which had a nice family room, served food which looked fine and had regular entertainment.
The shop seemed to sell everything and was very reasonably priced.
There is a small play area and room for ball games, but near to where the tents are all pitched.
The reception staff were frendly and helpful. There is a pool on site with a sauna, extra charge. The showers are now included in the pitch price, but were a bit tired, but adequate. The hot water went off on the Sunday, just as it poured down with rain, but we have had a e mail explaining the problem with an apology and an offer of a free night if we book three nights or more.
There is an interesting church next to the site with a thatched roof, worth a look.
The site is close enough to Gt Yarmouth for a day out. Boats can be launched from the site and the Broads can be reached from there. We are considering returning because of the ability to launch a dinghy easily.

Just bought our first caravan so didn't want to stray too far from home. We found the site offered everything to make our stay pleasurable. KIds enjoyed themselves in the pool although having to pay extra for this was a bit of a downer along with the charge of £1.00 for the showers but the five mins was enough and the water was piping hot. Good onsite shop selling all the essentials and more (fishing gear for the kids, best purchase all weekend!) The dog enjoyed himself as the surrounding area offered enough walks to last a life time, although there was a lack of dog refuse bins. Good pub next door, very friendly people and a great family room. Enjoyed ourselves so much we booked to go the following week. Unfortunately our car broke down and after spending four hours sat on the A12 (while we tried to get it fixed) we got towed home. Rang the office first thing saturday to see if we would be able to change our booking to the next weekend only to be told there would be a £35.00 transfer charge. The weekend only cost £46.00!

We have been twice to the River Centre and we love it although we do think it is rather expensive on some things. The showers are £1 for about 5mins and if you are a family of 5 like we are this can work out expensive. Also on our last visit we found out you that there is a swimming pass you can buy for a mini break that is £20 for 3 days after we had paid £15 for one session. The views are great and the pub is good too. But we will go again probably every year as we have always had a good time and met some great people.

Overall not a bad site. Nice location on the river Waveney. We found this site to be quite expensive (and they do charge extra for dogs despite the main review on this site stating otherwise) and showers aren't cheap. Due to the site being on the hill means the top and bottom are really only suitable for camping- making the pitches on the small side. Despite that, the facilities are fine and the staff at the reception were very friendly. This is a very good place for families- a leisure centre, play area and a very family orientated pub mean the kids won't get bored, and you can hire boats from reception. Despite the remote location, this isn't the site if you want to avoid the crowds- we went in May, I can imagine in the summer holidays it gets very crowded with campers and boaters.

Chose this park as a base for the Broads and Great Yarmouth. It was quite a way from any A roads and we got lost the first time we got there, but it was worth it. If its peace and quiet you're after, this place is great. Bird watchers and anyone keen on wildlife will enjoy the amazing variety from this small site. We practically had the place to ourselves most days as we went out of school holidays. The centre also hires dayboats which we did. It was about £70 for the day. The on site shop was handy and not much dearer than a supermarket and had everything you need as well as souvenirs, fishing and camping equipment. The Showers we hot and clean and lasted for longer than I needed. There is an on site pool for an extra charge which looked nice but we didn't use as we were close to Great Yarmouth and the weather was great. The pub on site was ok if you didn't feel like going out in the evening, we ate there a couple of times and it was usual pub fare but cooked well. I would say its more of a couples place than a family’s, especially young ones with the water so close and it is a good drive of around 30-40 mins to the beach. For couples, Beccles is a nice place to go out for the evening, check out the Bear and Bells pub.

Having just returned from spending the bank holiday weekend on this site, I felt I had to write as had I have read the reviews before booking I would have missed out on a lovely weekend. Upon arrival we were very quickly shown where to pitch our parties 4 tents. The site staff were all very helpful and pleasant and the pub served good value meals, so we had no reason to leave site searching for food, also a well stocked shop on site. We hired 2 day cruisers and had great fun on the river well worth the money. The swimming pool is small (max 15 swimmers) but we saw lots of families using it each day and refreshments are served so you can supervise the children from the poolside while having a cuppa. Will definitely return to this site. Thanks for a relaxing weekend.

Campsite was ok nice and friendly a little bit far from the sea, but on the whole ok. The only problem we found with the site was the pound charge that we had to pay for the showers, with two children this got quite expensive. I believe that the cost should be in with the price of the pitch. The site toilets and showers could really do with a proper clean as there were cobwebs all over the place. Me and my family would probably opt to stay somewhere closer to great yarmouth next time we visit the norfolk area. 7 out of 10.

My partner and i,went here in July/06 and were very disappointed, it claims to be a 5* site the showers were small and cramped(cost£1 for 5mins) and like been in a sauna!. All it would take is a better expel air. The toilet block didn't get cleaned for two days. They had a list of times it was supposed to get cleaned,if only they could stick to it The on site pub had reasonable food served all day,but can't pull a pint properly, and not prepared to listen, key word is LISTEN(i'm a barman of 20yrs) The ground (clay based)was very cracked and no grass, granted there hadn't been much rain, but it was next to a river! The shop offered free freezing service, lost all 4 of our freezer packs! had to pay for more!? Very isolated site, but having said all that the views were wonderful .Very sorry but this camper won't be returning.

Sorry to say we had great expectations of this site but were disappointed. As stated in a previous review there are no signs to tell you where to go on arrival. If more than one caravan arrived at the same time it would be chaos.
We had specifically booked this site because of 'pool with spa & sauna' unfortunately the spa & sauna were both closed but admission was still same price. The changing rooms were freezing & showers were warm. Also last admission was 4 oclock even though pool closed at 5. Was not impressed at £1 charge for showers when paying £20 a night would expect them to be free or a minimal charge. Also shower doors were always left open so rooms were freezing. Also area near quay which was being reseeded was covered in broken glass with no fencing to keep children off
