The site is tucked out of the way down a narrow lane with occasional stopping points. More signage would be helpful as it's hard to locate and confusing when you arrive. We eventually checked in, we had a warm welcome from the receptionist, who showed us where to pitch. We had booked a moorhen pitch which was 12 x 8 and just fitted our 7m x 3m tent with porch. We struggled to get our car on as we faced our tent out to the marina. But the adjacent pitches were empty so we straddled. The pitches were well situated but could have done with a bit of maintenance, weeding etc. Our stay was fantastic as we had superb weather and the site was under occupied so we never struggled to get a shower etc. The shower block is lovely and private you have a code to get in and then you have a shower, toilet and sink to yourself, also a hairdryer on the wall and a couple have baby changing facilities they are looking a little tired but they are clean, (most of the time) unless someone has messed it up before your use. There are signs reminding you of saving water etc. There is a play area near the shower block, set on a slope, the children using it seemed to enjoy it. Just above this there is a swimming pool which we used one day, but it is included in the price which makes it good value if you use it a lot. It is clean and very warm. In fact the Jacuzzi was so hot that no one could use it. Great though if the weather is bad. There is a washing up area and another block of toilets, which is useful. The pub on site is well used, we had 3 meals there, all very nice with a minimal wait and friendly staff, the only negative was the air con was too cold for me. Apparently you have to book sometimes, but we never struggled to get a table. The site overall is lovely to walk around. They did have building work going on which didn't bother us. We hired a boat for the day on sight, quite pricey £136 for the day, but great for a treat. It was a basic old boat but fine for us, we thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a small shop attached to reception with your basic needs and a few souvenirs and a small launderette with a shelf of leaflets showing things to do. You are nearby to several beaches of Gt Yarmouth, Caister, Lowestoft, Hemsby if you like arcades etc, and there are several nice pubs that serve food nearby, but we were quite happy on site, people watching and seeing the boats coming and going. It was fairly quite while we were there, which made it more enjoyable for us. It could be a totally different experience if busy.

Great location by the river. Access to site via narrow roads with passing places. Site facilities excellent - private wet rooms, indoor swimming pool, good pub and shop on site. Lovely walk to Oulton Broad from site. Been twice now and would thoroughly recommend. Staff very friendly and welcoming. We have a motorhome but would recommend to campers as well as plots are also spacious.
Excellent value for money.

We first visited Waveney when we hired a boat for a week from Horning and moored over night and had free use of the excellent facilities and showers and said we would come back and stay which we did and we were not disappointed.
The Site, Showers, Swimming pool, Pitch all excellent and great views from all pitches and a lovely setting. The Waveney Inn on site is excellent with a great choice and great staff and able to offer gluten free choices.
No negatives but beware if towing as it is in a rural location and roads are narrow so follow the site directions as the direct route lacks passing places.
We will be back as a great site.

Having never camped before wasn't sure what to expect. Upon arrival warm friendly greeting pod lovely and clean. Lovely setting good rules children not allowed after 9pm to run around my grandaughter absolutely loved every minute. Will definitely recommend and will come back has totally changed my opinion on camping.
The only thing I feel would good is to have hooks around pod and a fan in ceiling as does get very hot.

Not sure how this site managed to get a four star rating!. Stayed on the kingfisher touring pitch which was larger than the mallard which they do request for you to book if you are staying in a campervan with awning. Glad we booked the larger pitch as I don't think we would of got it all in on the mallard. The view of the river with the boats was nice, but I thought the two second ride across the water was expensive at £2. 50 each return, especially if you have a large family with you. The toilets and showers were very close which is good, but they wasn't the cleanest, they did smell a bit, didn't smell a cleaning product once while we were there. If we had stayed in peak season I can imagine it would of been a lot worse. The pot washing area was clean and tidy. They have a heated swimming pool which looked welcoming but cannot comment as we never used it. The reception staff are are not the warmest of people. Cannot comment on the bar or restaurant as we did not use them. I was expecting to be able to walk along the riverbank with my border collie but you can only walk along the other side of the river, which you have to pay to cross. Had a lovely sunny day out in Great Yarmouth but dogs are not allowed on the beach until the end of September. Would not return to this site.

This was our second visit to this site with two of our grandsons aged 10 & 14 who had actually picked the site themselves. It is a good ride from the main road but hey, how peaceful it is. Swimming pool is good but no lifeguard, so anyone under 14 needs chaperoning, although there is a small cafe where you can purchase a drink or snack. All the toilets and showers were spotless no matter what time of day, which is always a plus. Onsite, the shop was well stocked and reasonably priced and although we didn't eat in the pub we did have a drink and viewed the meals on offer which looked good. Offsite, Beccles, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth are all within a relatively easy drive, you pays your money and takes your choice. All the pitches are divided by hedges which gives it a lovely private feel when relaxing outside the van. All the staff we came in contact with were very pleasant and able to do there job well. All in all a great site which is well worth a visit.

Excellent Site,
Positives
- Showers very good
- Swimming pool excellent
- Pitch Good - (had super pitch)
- good views from top pitches
- lovely setting
- Waveney Inn on site - good value, good menu and take away. Was able to leave the dream of ordering tea and having a pint of beer as I waited. The out side area was good and had a singer on Sunday who was very good.
Negatives
- Location - it is a 10 minute drive to access the main roads. I would recommend following the site directions when you come in with a caravan as the direct route lacks passing places.
- the site need to look at a football/ball games area
I would definitely return to this site if I was in the area.

Bit of a mixed opinion I'm afraid. On the plus side, the wet rooms are superb, as is the Waveney Inn - great food if a little expensive, and the swimming pool looked excellent. Also it's nice to have all the boars to see and use. They aren't however, fully geared up for motorhomes. The designated water point is impossible to connect to a hose pipe (there are others but this is supposed to be the one to use), and there is no accessible grey water sink to 'hover' over. The grounds need a lot of attention: the pitch we had was very threadbare and muddy, and the general appearance of the site is scruffy. It's such a shame as the general location is superb.

We have stayed here before in our tent and liked it so much we came back but this time we booked an escape pod. It was myself, my husband and our 2 dogs, a Black Labrador and a Collie X. The place is so welcoming for dogs they are allowed in the restaurant and the staff are so helpful. The pod was great because it had heating, a TV and electric but we still prefer our tent and would probably go with that in the future only because it is bigger than the pod so allows more room for the dogs but other than that it is a lovely place and will be going back there again. There are also plenty of great walks you can do with your dogs.

This was our first visit to this sight, half hour from home in Norwich and wont be our last. The sight facilities were all very good. We used the swimming pool that's included in the price. Also very good meal in the Waveney inn. Its very quiet here. We will definitely be coming back 😎
