We went here bank holiday weekend just passed and what can I say, we were very impressed. The showers were very clean and kids play area was great, the kids loved it.
We were very welcomed on arrival even shown to the pitch.
The pub was great, good beer and food, kids welcomed as well. The only bad point which to us was very important is that was we were on pitch mallard 1 which was a good size pitch but it was on a slope. The slope was quite drastic which caused all of our bed's/bedding to slide in to the living area which was very annoying and there was no way we could of set the tent up any differently with out the slope having this affect!

Spent 3 days at this site from 10th April. Site has good facilities including a well stocked shop and pub with food available (good Sunday lunch). There was live music in the lounge area during our stay, and also Bingo (if you are into that sort of thing).
The pitch we had was about half way down the site with the bottom half in front of us still very waterlogged. The pitches above us were on an incline and seemed to be reserved for Motorhomes.
Toilets and showers all functioned ok and there were good dish wash facilities. Nice walks down by the river and viewing the boats coming into the moorings. Small kids play area and pay swimming pool. Quite chilly in the mornings but as we had electric hook up and heater in the camper this was not a problem for us. Good site overall with nice surroundings.

Fab fab fab - excellent shower and toilet facilities
Arrived at 10am on Good Friday and was shown personally to our pitch by the camp warden after checking in at reception.
We were given full instructions on where to pitch and guidance. We were given a clear laminated map which showed where all the facilities were and the rules of the site.
We pitched and had a look around. There is a nice looking swimming pool (didn't use - just looked through the window), I believe you pay to use. It also houses a cafe which serves a full English Breakfast.
The shower facilities are what I really most congratulate the site for. Individual heated wet rooms with free steaming hot showers, toilets, hairdryers and sinks. Brand new and immaculate. Had to wait a couple of minutes one morning for a shower, but my hubby never did. 5 star all the way.
Went to the pub on site a couple of times, lovely big pub which was very friendly and served food also (didn't eat any though).
Well stocked grocery store / off licence, that also sold camping / fishing accessories.
All staff we came across were friendly and helpful at all times.
Went out for the day to Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, both great for dog walks on the deserted beaches.
Somerleyton village is one of the most beautiful villages I have come across and only a few miles away.
We loved this site so much that we have cancelled our week in Cornwall in July and have booked to come here instead.
I could not give this site more positive a review if I tried. Well done Waveney. Keep it up.

The track to the site was a little bumpy, so take it easy.
We stayed here as a large group on the Bittern pitch. 3 tents, 1 van and a gazebo and had plenty of room. Tucked away in the corner next to the car park, though the cars went unnoticed. The owner was really friendly as was his dog Max. The shower/toilets were a little muddy at peak time but that's to be expected, so wasn't a real problem. The shop was very very well stocked and stayed open until about 6.
The location was beautiful and so relaxed. Boats going by every few minutes.
Would definitely return

Firstly be warned the entrance to this site is on a long narrow lane it does a few pull in lay by but we lived in fear of meeting another caravan or lorry! ON arrival the staff were friendly and very helpful she sold us a 3 day family pass for £20 you could have 2 adults and 2 children on these. Don't waste your money until you have looked at the pool yourself and formed your own thoughts on it!
Nordic Leisure Centre, tiled area around the pool was dirty it looked like it had not been cleaned for months there was brown muck over the tiles. The corners of the steps were so dirty I wondered if I should dare go in the pool. The spa was so scummy there was no way we could have got in it! Children were throwing balls in the pool despite notices to the contrary. There were no parents with these children and the staff on Saturday or Sunday did not tell them to stop. On Sunday a child was jumping in the pool which made it impossible to swim at all without a face full of water (or even worse a mouth full of water!) this child was with her parents who told her not to jump as she was not allowed but she just carried on do feel that lady on duty should have told the child to leave the pool or stop! The same applied to ball games againist the walls outside there was often football being played outside the pool area in fact I got hit by a ball twice! Cars seem to just drive across the site at what ever speed they wanted as there is no road (just one large field) this was at great danger to any young children or ducks. The shower's by the pool are dirty with dated shower curtains the loo was always dirty and the lock did not work there was a charge of 50p for hair dryer. The gym is no longer and just has a sunbed in which looked dated. The shower block is very dated and although clean is in desperate need of a make over! The large field was well kept and the rest of the site clean although the pitches for caravans are very small for the money we paid. For tents they seemed to be camped just anywhere and packed on top of each other on a hill. The pool and wash room area really let the location of this site down as its a lovely spot. Boats can pay £75 a year to use the NLC so I would not like to be at this site in peak season it would be mad busy. Although we could take our dogs at a charge of £2 each per night which seems a bit steep for dogs! Not really any good places to walk your dog just down by the church you can't get around by the river blocked with reeds and muddy.

We were really surprised to read previous reviews after having just spent the bank holiday weekend at Waveney River Centre, as we were totally impressed with the site.
Our party of 2 adults, one 3-year-ols and one 5-month old was very comfortable on our pitch, fairly level and plenty of room for caravan, awning and car.
The location was fantastic, with beautiful views over the marina. The site shop sold pretty much everything you could require. The pub on site, although we didn't go in this time, looked nice and had a separate family room so families had no worries about the kids disturbing others, and those wanting a kid-free meal or drink could do so too.
Comprehensive re-cycling area near rubbish bins, and only environmentally friendly toilet chemicals allowed (available at the shop if you don't already have some).
We all enjoyed the pool, it was lovely and clean and not at all busy. We paid £20 for a 3-day family pass and went in twice on both days. You can also pay per swim I believe it was £3.80 for a swim.
Showers and loos perfectly adequate.
The kids play area was brilliant, the wooden climbing frame & slide looked new and our little boy had a great time playing on it.
Friendly staff - a friend visited for a few hours and staff said not to worry about paying the vistors fee if she wasn't using any facilities.
We took our canoe and put it in the water with no problems - there is a proper slipway for boats as well which costs £7 to launch from.
All in all, we loved this site, fab scenery, nice facilities, great pool and play area, lovely staff, we would definitely go again.

We stayed for the Whit half term week for 5 nights and it was our first visit to this site. It was very busy and the site slopes from a small ridge towards the Marina. It is very pretty and scenic located at the end of a couple of miles of single track road which were not too much of a problem to negotiate and it is well signed. However when we visited it was full with the tents at the bottom of the slope and the caravans at the top of the hill. No-one appeared to be 'policing' the park to ensure rules were upheld, e.G. Noisy children in play area very early in morning and later on. Also ball games were played close to tents. The Skip supplier arrived at 7.10am one morning making sleep difficult.
The bathrooms were a little grimy and there were insufficient showers in the women's (one was out of use for 3 of our 5 days) and insufficient enclosed toilets for the men. We would like to see enclosed washbasins in ladies and more toilets there were 2 mens toilets 2 mens showers and the same for the women it was almost impossible to get a morning shower when the site was this busy.
We used the Nordik Leisure Centre, again one of the ladies showers had problems also it was only open 10-5 for campers which seemed unfair as this is the main part of the day that people go out - it would be nice to be able to swim on return. We used the facility twice (only fitted in a very short swim of 15 mins before closure which made it very expensive having paid for a family pass for the whole of our stay).
Pitches were very much on the small side bearing in mind today's much larger tents - we felt very cramped/crammed in and our car wasn't even on our pitch. The whole row of pitches near the Marina suffered extremely poor drainage. The Waveney Inn had very friendly staff and good meals which were on the expensive side.

Beautiful scenery overlooking the marina. The site had a very good shop and pub which was friendly, boats were for hire which was good fun, book the day before. As a 4 star campsite I was not impressed with the toilets or showers available. In the ladies there were 3 toilets 2 of the seats were broken and only 2 showers which had only a hook in it to hang things off and no shelf for glasses etc. They were not kept very clean. I would say not acceptable for a 4 star camp site. Apart from this important need it was a lovely stay. Would only go back if they advertised that they had completely refurbished the toilets and showers to an acceptable level. Also no monitoring of kids playing ball by tents and cars! very annoying!

We arrived at Waveney River Centre last Monday (4th Aug). Being a group of ten 18 year olds, it was hard finding a campsite willing enough to accept us, however WRC were most helpful in accommodating us and advising us to book 2 'Coot' style pitches. This turned out in our favour as both pitches were next to each other and had unobstructed views over the beautiful marina.
Facilities wise, WRC offers everything you would need for a short stay. We stayed Monday to Friday, and used the pool facilities as much as we could. While fairly large and clean, we felt £3.50 each was a bit too much and they do limit swim time to 1/2 hour if busy. So a week pass would probably be a good idea in that respect. We also felt that the £3.50 for a 'Swim & Spa' session should include the use of the sauna and solarium within it, as these were charged as extras.
Toilets and showers are adequate, nice, hot and free, however daily cleaning wouldn't go a miss. Especially given the amount of times they are used by the campers.
We liked the fact that WRC is situated off the beaten track, as you have to drive from the A12 for about 4 miles along single track country roads. While inconvenient if something comes the other way, you get some lovely country views and see lots of wildlife. The site is, however, ideally situated for the broads, Norwich, Yarmouth and Lowestoft with plenty to do (even for us 18 year olds!)
The pub is welcoming and has very friendly staff, offers great traditional pub food and we found ourselves in there most evenings (and remember, we are 18!).
The pitches are a good size, and electric hook-up was right behind ours. The camping and touring field is smaller than we were expecting, however we liked this due to a quieter environment and more 'neighbourly' atmosphere.
Comes highly recommended from out party of 10 teenagers, and we are already considering booking for next year! You won't regret a stay at WRC!

There is no denying this is a lovely location. The view, the pool, shop, the pub etc. Are great but I can't help saying that the site could do with a bit more care and management.
There is a very small number of toilets for the size of the site and whilst we were there between Friday and Sunday they weren't cleaned once and were in a right state. The toilets showers are code key locked (presumably to stop casual use by passing broads users) but it is challenging for children to have to remember 6 digit codes to get into the loo. Also the Ladies door jammed shut for a while and no-one was on hand to help sort it out.
The site is rather sloping so you get the rather bizarre situation of a strip of pitches at the top of the field and then a large jumble at the bottom by the waterside where it was rather crowded.
Despite being various signs around prohibiting ball games and comments about noise curfews the site was very noisy on Saturday night when it was busy with children running wild and people talking very loudly/shouting well after dark (22:30-23:00+) and cars/motorbikes moving around very late.
All in all, for a supposed 4 * (and priced to match) site I felt it was let down by not having anyone making sure that things went well for all visitors rather than the noisy/messy few.
Well worth a visit but probably best to go when the site is quiet.
