We have just returned from riverside campsite, were we stayed for 4 nights, in our campervan and tent. When we arrived we were met by Jim the owner who is very friendly and helpful and put us in the driest spot on the site, as it had been raining heavily the weekend before we arrived ( great August weather again NOT ) He even provided us with boards to put down to keep our path from tent to campervan dry.Toilets and showers were fine but 20p needed for mens 50p for women but as the site was very reasonable we didn't mind. There is a well equipped playground for the children and is only a short walk in to cononley were there is another park. We made great use of the train station that is in walking distance from the site, and went into Skipton, were there is a castle, market and shopping( £1.50 return 75p for kids )
Only one of the pubs in cononley served food ( the New Inn )The food was excellent and very friendly host.We also had a chinese takeaway delivered to our tent which was very good. The only down side to this site is that the water is fed from a spring and looked a bit green this was probably due to the heavy down pour the previous night jim assured us it had been tested but we stuck to bottled water just to be safe especially with the children. We will definitely return to this site.

At Cononley 3 miles south of the lovely market town of Skipton, North Yorkshire, on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
It is a Certified Site of the C&C Club and is run to the rules and regulations of the the C&C Club none members who wish to use the site may join the C&C Club on site.
The owners James and Alison who are caravaners in their own right, told me that they intend to run the site the way they like to be treated when they go to a site. In the three weeks we stayed at the Riverside Site James never stopped working improving the facilities, and by the time we left he had finished most of what he had set out to do.
I will now say the washrooms, showers, and toilets, for both individual sexes, are first class and are more than adiquate for the maximum amount of units Alison and James has set for their site. The dish-washing facilities are under full cover and with the hot water set up you have constant hot water.
There is a chemical waste disposal point and two taps one in each field and refuge recycling.
The maximum amount of units the site will accept is 25 which is to the C&C Club Certified site regulations and has the capabilities to service 20 of these with an electric hook up.
Pricing this year is to band J for unit 2 adults 2 children, phone the site owners on 01535 636342 for any additional information, Band J is £10 to £11 a night.
All pitches are to or above the recommended Pitch sizes of the C&C Club I helped James measure them out and peg them, 4 of these pitches that can be serviced with an EHU will accommodate the large tents and still be within the six meter rule. No problems with tent sizes on the unserviced pitches.
The play area is one large sand pit, the sea side inland, swings slide numerous large toys, the children just love it.
The Village of Cononley has two public houses and a well stocked village store and post office, all within three hundred yards of the site, and is perfectly placed for visiting all the sites and places of interest in Yorkshire. It has its own station where you can ride on a steam train at weekends or travel to most towns in Yorkshire.
We travelled 300 miles to stay there and are looking forward to our next visit hopefully next year.
I can Highly Recommend this Certified Site, for family camping and touring with any unit.

My husband found Riverside Caravan Site while searching the internet, we had never stayed in a CL before, and we were looking to book a site at short notice. Fortunately the owners had a space for our 10 day stay. Unlike most other larger sites when I asked what time we could book in, we were told we could arrive any time we liked.
The site proved to be exactly what we wanted, the site owners (Alison and James) were very friendly and helpful, giving us advice on best eating places, walks - which were plenty - and telling us a bit about the history of the village.
The site itself has a superb playing area for those people with children, dogs are welcome, and although at the moment the toilet facilities are unisex, they are cleaned every day, and James and Alison are busy extending the toilets at present so that women and men will have their own facilities. These should be completed very soon, which will further enhance the site.
The site is surrounded by lovely views, there is a shop within a very short walk in the village, which supplies all the usual things we campers run out of. Skipton is about 10 minutes away for those people who like to rummage around the market, and other places of interest are nearby.
All I can say is that if you want a stay in a place where you can sit outside (weather permitting) with a glass of wine in your hand, listening to the sheep, watching the horses in the field nearby, this is where you should be. We shall certainly be returning (quite often I would imagine).

This is an absolute gem of a site. Its position in the village with a very good shop and with the railway line to Skipton are all plus points but the strength of the place is the attitude of the owners. They are working farmers but also own and use a touring caravan. I guess that this explains a great deal.
We stayed for 4 nights on our way from Wales to Scotland. It was great to be able to site the van as we wished, paying attention to others, of course.
The toilet provision is being 'tweaked' so that it will no longer be unisex. A very simple change but it seems typical of the owners response to users observations. I was very relieved to find that there were definitely no plans for expansion and that it will remain as a 5 van site.
Anyway, off we went to Scotland for a couple of weeks. We used some other good sites but made a diversion on the way home and stayed another two nights. And we shall return. To put my remarks in perspective perhaps I ought to explain that I am a grumpy old octogenerian. However the site also was ideal for an extended family with 6 children, lovely children, who shared our first four days.
Something for everybody!

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Riverside Campsite.
We arrived and were blown away at the fantastic children’s play park with swings push cars, a go-cart and play houses. There were 8 young children in our party and it was perfect.
The site had limited toilet and shower facilities, which was not a problem to us but could be for others particularly in busy summer months. After a conversation with the owner however we were made aware that plans were underway for adding an additional toilet / shower block making the facility even more convenient. Of greater importance however, was the fact that the toilets and showers were kept very clean, a priority.
We were a large family group and they did not mind us getting tennis nets out or a trampoline, they gave us free rein in what we did. We loved the fact that there was a train station within a 5 min walk and another play area just over the bridge and across the road (2mins) with swings, slides and skateboarding ramps.
There was also a very convenient local shop nearby which was ideal for the little necessities of milk, bread, tea, coffee, etc. The Chinese takeaway in the village serves a fabulous meal, we ordered out there one night and they were so accommodating and even drove the food to the tents for us so it would not get cold.
There were plenty of walks nearby to suit all types of walker, and plenty to do within a short distance drive should the rain prevent walking. Many in our party brought bikes and we found lots of nearby interesting places to cycle to that were close by, they particularly liked the path near the canal and the road into Skipton.
This was brill for the older kids. We loved it so much we have booked for two weeks in the summer.
The owners were friendly, kind and accommodating but intrusive, they allowed plenty of privacy to get on with things. On the whole, FANTASTIC highly recommended.

This was the first time my wife & daughter and boyfriend had ever been camping. We got there on the friday evning and just went to where I had been told to set up our tent by the owners and with using my TomTom we found the campsite right away. As you come into the camp site there is a field for them who want eletric for £12 a night and a field at £10 a night for them who do not want to use eletric. As this was the fist time my family has gone camping we went without eletric. The next morning the owners came and welcomed us to the campsite.
The toilets are clean and tidy but only one shower but it was realy good for the size of the camp site.
There is a small playground for the little one's with some swings and slides and as I saw the kids that was playing on it were happy with it but there are fields for the kids to play football in or even just to hang around and have a laugh.
The campsite is has some lovely hills all around and there is a river that goes into Skipton that you can walk to by the river.
The village looks ok and there was a pub as you come in to the village but we never got to go to because as we finished eating tea and had some drinks, we just sat there enjoying the sunset.
We are going again in about five to six weeks time as my family want to go again, even though the weather could have been better my family still liked it.
If I was going to give this stars out of 10 then I would give it a good 7 out of 10 *******.
This campsite is greae for those that have never been camping before and those that have and just need a quick break from it all.

We have just returned from a long Bank Holiday weekend at this site, and must confess that we were very disappointed.
The site has loads of potential as it is in a lovely village close to Skipton, it has a decent kids play area and it has wonderful views all round.
The things that really let the site down are the facilities and the general site management.
The facilities are very basic consisting of 2 toilet cubicles (unisex), 2 hand wash basins, one shower cubicle and one washing up area which has luke warm water only.
Considering it was a Bank Holiday weekend the site was not particularly busy but the facilities really could not cope. The shower seemed to flood into the toilets which were never particularly clean and always lacking in toilet paper! Drinking water is provided via a bowser which the owner brought on the first day. I would expect that if the site were busy this would need to be refilled on a regular basis, and I would imagine that there will be delays in this service.
The site management is very poor as the owners do not live on site and as the pitch markers are non-existent, arriving campers are left to pitch where they want to. The owners only seem to appear to collect money.
The site is very cheap but I would certainly be happy to pay more if the facilities were improved.
In summary, this could be a great site so if the owners read this can I suggest that you take a good long look at the site and decide if you are happy to keep running it the way you currently are or if you want to have first class site.
If it is the former, good luck to you. If it is the latter we will be delighted to return.

This is one of the nicest campsites my family and I have ever stayed at. We found it very easily and were greeted warmly by the owners who seemed very laid-back. Being May Bank holiday weekend we expected the site to be quite busy but it was simply steady rather than crowded which was ideal.
The site was very open, far enough away from the main road and pleasantly situated in a semi-walled enclosure. The toilet block was clean although there were too few showers and the water butt was amply filled and easy to access. One minor disappointment was the 'children's play area' which was in fact a patch of bare gravel with a few childrens' ride-on cars; this was one of the reasons we chose the site as we have two young children.
The site is about ten minutes drive from Skipton which is ideal as it is a lovely market town with an excellent hot pie shop! We passed several decent pubs and there was a cluster of small shops just outside the campsite.
Overall I would gladly stay there again - although I would imagine that in August it may get pretty rammed and be a little less enjoyable.
