Mmmmm, what can I say about this place? The first thing that comes to mind is the extremely loud blast from the trains' horns as they fly frequently by the site. What a shocker that was, and we never did get used to it. Not for peace and quiet but then the site owners can't help the location.
Access to the site is not for the feint-hearted either. Anyone towing a caravan will have to take extra care over the very narrow bridge at the site entrance. You could easily ground out, or scratch the side of your vehicle.
The lady owner was very abrupt, and seemed disinterested.
Now on to the facilities; the toilets were inside a barn so there was a good breeze around the nether regions. Bit old-fashioned but served the purpose and better than a bucket.
Be warned, although the grass is kept nice and short, the site is badly sloping despite claims of a 'level site'. Also it seems, dogs were allowed to run freely and hence do their business freely.
This is our first ever bad review of any site we have stayed on. We won't be returning for the reasons stated.

We stayed at this site with our daughter ( four and a half yrs )and had seen the mixed reviews for this site. There are positives and negatives to this site and our stay.
On the plus side, the site is easy to find, is set in wonderful country side with easy contact to the owners, a good sandy play area with play equipment and although a bit rustic. The facilities were really clean and functional and the size of the pitches was really generous. However, the negatives were that a number of the play equipment ( scooters/ tractors etc) were either broken or couldn't be actually easily moved by a child due to the sand, and the biggy - the train activity was such that we were kept awake all night due to freight trains, their noise and frequency - the ground was actually shaking as they went past.
This is such a shame as local amenities in the village were great ( large playground and post office/ shop )and the site itself was really good but we couldn't face another night on the site so packed up and came home the next morning. Maybe it is best to ask the owners if pitches on the far side are more quieter when booking !

This site is very handy for Skipton. Just a few minutes walk to the station and within 15 minutes you are in Skipton.
Good pub in the village where we were both happy with our meals. The other pub was not available for food but there was a wedding on at the time.
The site is basic but certainly adequate for a short stay. Very quiet and peaceful & wonderful views.
Ideal for couples, not much on the campsite if you had children. Another reason why it was ideal for us.
We would certainly go back to this site.

Very nice campsite, basic but just what you need for camping, large fields, good play area for younger children which all our loved, ranging from age3 to 9 years old. Showers were substantial, remember 20 & 50ps as they take both. Washing facilities were fine.
In a lovely village with 2 pubs and Chinese take away, a little shop and a lovely playground, all within minutes of walking from campsite. Very close to train station with regular trains.
Lady who ran the site was lovely, very helpful.

Just come back from this site - it was great for those with kids.
There is a sand play area (for under 8's) on the site, but the sand did stain everyone orange, and a fantastic play area (with footie pitch) in the village for older kids. The only downside to the sand play area is that there is more than one access/exit point so your kids can escape in the opposite direction! Another bench for adults to sit on whilst watching would be great!
The train line is right nearby but we didn't notice any noise, if anything because the trains were stopping at the village it was quiet. We didn't notice the main road at all.
The facilities were ok, a bit basic but perfectly acceptable, a bit wet and muddy, but then so was all the grass outside so it wasn't from a lack of cleaning. There was a freezer which we could use. And the showers were coin operated, with either 50p (gave you longer than expected) and 20p. The field we were in was nice and flat so ideal for camping, but there is not much shelter should the wind get up.
We were part of a large group and had been allocated pitches together. The manager did pop over on the Friday night to see that we were sticking to the noise curfew of 11pm. It was great to see that someone from the campsite did care that the campsite was quiet for everyone else. There was a bit of noise from the playpark early in the morning from around 7. 30, but it was just kids playing.
It was a great location for heading into Skipton and surrounding areas. I would go back with the kids for a weekend stay.

Visited this site with great expectations after reading the reviews on here but have to say we were very disappointed, the field where we were put was far from flat so pitching the tent in a good position was a little difficult!
Don't go if you want a quiet little camp site! It's on the flight path for I presume Leeds airport, and although the train station being so close was very handy, it's a very busy line! And also very close to main road A59 so road noise too most of the night
There was a 'stag do' and they were placed in the middle of the main field where we were and we were kept awake to 5am on the Friday with the noise from them!
Facility's below standard, old, dirty and seen better days!
If you go to skipton don't eat in the black horse pub!

Stopped here for 5 nights over the Queens Silver Jubilee weekend. Upon arrival we found the Map/Board with where we had to pitch, Pitch was large and fairly level. Grass was ok length, The facilities though basic were very practical with lots of room in the showers and toilets (take plenty of 50p's or 20p's for the showers) We had EHU and were pitched near the railway. The trains didn't keep us awake at night and we found that there was not much noise from the non-EHU field even though there were some big parties there that weekend. The site owners are very friendly and helpful and the burger van has great Bacon Rolls. The site is ideally placed for public transport and Monday to Saturday you don't even have to look up the train times as there about every 15mins to Leeds, Bradford or Skipton. There are 2 pubs in the village and a large well maintained park too.

We were a little apprehensive when we arrived at this site as it seemed very busy but the site was nicely laid out. The facilities were basic but we did not have to queue for them despite the busyness.
The site was in an ideal location handy for a local pub, shop and take away and only 2 minutes walk from the train station so you did not need to use the car if you did not want to.
The owners were friendly and helpful and we would certainly consider this site again.
Good facilities for children to play.

Just returned 27/5/2012. This campsite is now top of our list of campsites to return to. The facilities are basic but really clean ( had to laugh at the miss match sinks and gold taps but they did the job).
Five minutes to the nearest pub. The Railway, very friendly locals. A few minutes in the other direction to the village shop, chinese and another pub.
The location of this site is great. Five mins from the station and one stop on the train to Skipton, for £1. 80 it's cheaper than parking the car. Morrisons in Skipton is right next to the station to stock up on your supplies.
There is a burger van on site serving bacon butties, chips, hot dogs, burgers and a selection of drinks and sweets.
Large playpark on site and adventure park in the village.
Only downside, the valley is very wjndy and although we had glorious sunshine there was a continuous breeze. Don't forget your windbreak as we did.
Looking forward to our next visit.

This is a really lovely site, set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. The village of Cononley is totally unspoilt, there are a couple of pubs and a fabulous children's play area with a zip wire, tunnels, swings etc.
The train station is a 5 min walk away and one stop away from Skipton (where there is a Tesco/B&M's). In Skipton there's Skipton Castle, the market on a Saturday & the canal's.
On the site, there is a large children's play area - mainly suited to the under 7's I'd say, lot's of 'Little Tikes' stuff.
There is a huge rally field and a smaller tent field. The toilets looked immaculate and in fact the whole site was immaculate, no rubbish anywhere.
I would definitely recommend this - especially for families.
