Just returned from our second weekend this year. This is our third year and it gets better every time. The staff couldn't be more helpful. They deal with any trouble straight away, two rowdy groups were told to leave at midnight on Saturday and a group that was noisy on Friday night were warned, resulting in a peaceful Saturday night. Its great to see all the kids enjoying themselves. Our two are young teenagers who love it. The site is so big they always make new friends. We start the day with a cycle to the local shop for croissants and newspaper and end with a walk along the beach. This year we've discovered the new Salterns Way which is a purpose made cycle path from West Wittering through Chichester Marina (great stop for an ice-cream) and then onto the canal into Chichester. Wonderful! If you have young kids, check out the crab pool off the footpath at West Wittering. Take a line and some bacon, its great fun.

Just spent two nights in the 'weekend field' on this site. This site is brill if you just want to arrive and pitch your tent wherever YOU want to (particularly good if you are part of a group with several tents), The childrens play area is safe, and fairly visible (depending on how many tents arrive!). The toliet block is big enough, modern and clean (but don't forget to bring some hand wash). The site is very friendly and laid back, yes that means that you may experience some noise from children and adults till late but hey your'e on holiday! My eight year old loved it, she could play safely in the dark with her new friends near to the tents, cycle round the site, walk to the beach (about 15 min walk with little legs and a stop at the shops) and swim in the surprising warm sea. West Wittering is a charming little village, fantastic beaches especially when tide is right out. Will be back very soon.

Just come back from a really nice weekend at this site. Looking at the other reviews I think things must have changed over the last year. It was very peaceful despite the fact it was very busy on site. Some thing else that appears to have changed is that the shower blocks have been modernised and you no longer need a pile of 20p coins for them. The showers are now free.
East Wittering is only a few minutes walk away and has a couple of take away food outlets, 2 supermarkets a butchers so provisions are readily available. There are also a couple of watersports shops and a registered dive centre so all in all everything is on your doorstep. Would recommend this site and look forward to returning.

We have stayed at Scotts Farm before and wanted to visit again over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We did have a great time but it was extremely busy. As they operate a 'pitch where you like' policy, you have to rely on other people having a bit of sense and not pitching right on top of you (which wasn't the case on the Saturday afternoon - tents appeared next to us while we were out, literally five feet away, leaving no space to park the car. Luckily, they were gone by Sunday afternoon.) It's more the fault of the owners, cramming in as many units as they can. Then again, it's the most popular and busiest weekend of the year - you have to accept it will be extremely busy when the weather forecast is good.
The overflow shower blocks that were opened were a bit ancient and having to find enough 20p pieces for me and the three daughters to all shower was tricky (you don't get long for your money!). This caught me unaware as the other blocks are free - be warned! Enormous queues formed too both for the showers and, more amusingly, for the washing up facilities - all these people waiting patiently in a queue with their bowls of plates and their fairy liquid!
It can get a bit noisy during the evenings but was generally quiet by 11.30. In fact, we wwere disturbed more by a neighbouring tent who's toddler woke at 5.30am and didn't bother lowering their voices to speak to it. What happened to the 11-7 quiet rule?!
Don't be put off visiting Scotts Farm by this - we aren't and will be going again next year. It is a great site, maybe not to everyone's tastes but we like it because it is close to West Wittering beach, which is fantastic and one of our favourite places.

Not my cup of tea, I prefer somewhere quieter. There was a lot of noise until late at night. The childrens play area had a big sand pit but my 6 year old daughter and her friend came running back to my caravan to say some older children were throwing sand at them. There was no shop to buy any of the basics.
The good side about this site is the showers and toilets were clean and you could get to choose your own pitch

May 2004 Stayed on this site three times as relatives live in same village. Like other reviewers, find their groups policy a bit perplexing as they allow groups of "rowdy" families to form super pitches for all night drinking parties and don't bat an eyelid. Although the site is big with marked but "self-select" pitches, it would be a hundred times better if they had a areas for these groups to pitch so people like us who want to sleep at night have a fighting chance! I think their main problem is that they appear to have an agency night security guard (usually a very young guy) sitting in the office, who turns a blind eye to the noise. Toilet/Shower facilities are top class. Location near beach, Chichester, and village shops great!

July 2005 Many of the family have been camping at Scotts Farm for decades. After 15 yrs away from camping, I now have my own kids and have started again. Scotts Farm is not the place it was. There are now 5 fields,1 for caravans with EHU another mixed caravans and tents with some EHU. The old kite field is now a camping field with no electrics and there are two further overflow/weekend only fields. You can pitch where you like which is good, and the toilets and showers are ok. The beach is good, although busier there is still plenty of room. The shops are close and have everything you need. There are a few places to eat and drink. I will certainly return to the site because it is so convenient and you know what you're getting (and it's in my blood).

August 2005 I've just come back from a couple of days camping at this site, and I have to say it wasn't my cup of tea at all.
On the plus side, the showers and washing up facilities were fine, clean enough and plentiful enough and lots of free hot water. The fields themselves were very flat, there was a nice play area (although better suited to over 6's, I think), it was very close to the beach and shops (although east wittering beach, not west wittering) and the staff seemed nice.
On the negative side, it was SOOOO noisy. There were children running wild, some really young, and my 1 and 4 yr old quiet girls were scared in the play area because of all the sand-throwing. The child noise at night didn't stop until 10:30 pm - and I am talking about very noisy ball games/hide and seek games etc. The adults were also very noisy with a LOT of radios etc on most of the time. Slight niggles were no soap in the toilets (although I am fairly new to camping and maybe this is common!) and not enough hanging/storage space in the showers.

July 2005 This is an excellent site and very cheap. Showers and loos very clean. There is no allocated pitches so you can pitch where you want which is good news for campers with large tents, we found it perfect for groups of families but may not suit single campers, noise was a bit of a problem but it was just people enjoying themselves, we would definitely go back again and again.

May 2005 Huge campsite with millions of caravans etc, but so tranquil and quiet! We arrived on Friday evening and had to queue to book in and were then sent to choose our pitch anywhere we liked in a choice of 2 fields. As 1 field has caravans and electrical hookups, we chose the plain field which was already very busy but we were still able to pitch with plenty of room for our massive tent. It did get even busier and for a time you were worried that if you moved the car, someone might pitch a tent on it! By Sunday evening 75% of the tents had gone home and we had the rest of the week almost to ourselves.
The shower blocks were clean and when busy they had a further couple of blocks which were opened. The grass was lovely and flat with no rocks (although plenty of molehills!). A lovely walk to the town and to the beach with a Tesco, co-op, greengrocer, butcher etc all close by. Well worth a visit and we will definitely go back. The kids loved it as well (12,10,8 and 7) and they have a massive dog walking field for the pooch.
