Came up to Durham to see daughter at Newcastle university so stopped on this site for 2 nights out of season. The heating was still on in the shower block, showers clean and hot and Howard the owner was very helpful. Will return great time had by all

When we arrived at Strawberry hill we were greeted by Howard (who was busy emptying bins). He was brilliant to deal with, friendly most of all brilliant with the kids. The toilet/shower block was the best we had ever used on a campsite very clean and well lit.Although there was no park for the kids it did not stop them enjoying themselves. The shop was always open,we have a nine man tent and the ground was very flat. With two kids who are very hard to please this site won them over no worries. The kids are already missing Megan the lovley border collie, and asking can we go back. All we can say is well done Howard and Elizabeth for a brilliant weekend. We would highly recommend Strawberry Hill to everyone. TOP MARKS

August 2005 Strawberry hill is a great site but does need something for the kids. Shower room/toilets very clean, utility rooms also very clean. Staff are suberb and bend over backwards to help would certainly stay there again. Pub just down the road, wonderful views from the camp area, information leaflets are available from the on site shop giving plenty of tourist information on nearby attractions and sites.

We camped in our tent for a Saturday night away from it all, myself and my two little boys. Luckily they made some little friends and spent the whole time playing, which was good because there aren't any swings or anything. Using the standing tap in the corner of the camping area, a little imagination and some water pistols we did manage to have the mother of all waterfights with the family on the pitch next door, adults and all!
Toilet block was spotlessly clean if a little cramped.
We didn't find the site straight away because the GPS in our car found the village for the postcode given. If you are using GPS don't leave the main road to go into Old Cassop. Stay on the road for another half mile and you will see the sign for it.
Prices in the shop were excellent considering there wasn't a great deal of competition around. Would come again.

May 2005 We have been to Strawberry Hill Farm many times. It is a lovely quiet and peaceful site, Howard and his wife are very nice, and are always happy to help you if you need it. The views are lovely, you can see for miles. Durham city is not far from the site, making it easy to get to. Nearly forgot to mention Meg the collie, she comes to greet everyone

August 2004 Whilst Strawberry Hill is a pleasent spacious site ideal for both tents and tourers it is not geared toward families. At £12.50pn for unit and 2 people it is then £2pn for each child, making this a whopping £18pn for us and apart from lovely views there was nothing there, not even a playground for the children. I asked about a playground and was advised planning permission has been granted but the charges for the pitches would rise significantly if a playground was errected due to the rising cost of insurance. Personally I think at £18pn this is adequate to cover the cost of insurance. My children were bored so we paid our bill and left. Needless to say we will not be going again...

August 2004 Having postponed our honeymoon due to appalling weather, we decided to take a break locally. We chose Strawberry Hill farm as it was close to Durham. We were later to discover other many delights of Co Durham. We were met by a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and the owners were keen for us to be comfortable. They were so pleasant and helpful. Despite the small amount of wares at the little shop they do have local produce available. Views from the site take in part of the durham dales and are quite spectacular. The City of Durham is only 15 minutes drive away and is a must Ample walks for doggies and loads of interesting places to go and look round. Will definitely return to complete our adventures

August 2004 Howard and his wife were extremely helpful, nothing was any trouble for them. We changed our arrival and departure date due to bad weather on a site near the lakes we had been staying on, and this was accomodated with ease, there wasn't a puddle in site! The plots are ample, and we were left to place our van where we wanted (was nice to have the choice as the views are amazing!). The site was very quiet, but as others have mentioned there is the slightest bit of noise from the road along side (this would depend where you are positioned though), but this is certainly not detremental to the site. The only disappointment I had was that we were only staying for the one night. The toilets/showers are very clean and the water/waste area very close to the van. I would highly recommend this site to any one. Enjoy :)

July 2004 An excellent clean and modern site. Toilets, showers and laundry facilities are first class. Shop is adequate for essentials. Site flat and well lit. Seperate two level area with tents above caravans and campers further up hill. Private and well secluded spot but close to main A road (A181) so slight traffic noise - but not enough to annoy you. Great hillside views make up for it though. Nice quiet pub 2 minute drive away (3 Horse Shoes). We camped here for one night. Thoroughly enjoyed it even though it poured down!

4 & 5 June 2004 Strawberry Hill is ideal for those who wish to chill out for the weekend. The site is situated on a hill (obviously) and has glorious views over the Durham Dales. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the site and the shop is adequate for all your general amenities. What impressed us the most was the layout of the site with all pitches on the flat. It has been designed to meet both the needs of the camper and caravanner, which explains the popularity of the site whilst we were there. As a camper, it was nice to be giving the opportunity to use a caravan spot, although I'm sure this wouldn't happen in busy times.
We are definitely going back again and recommend others to see for themselves.
