What a lovely couple. We arrived early, not a problem. A beautiful quiet site which was spotless. A beautiful view from the caravan across the countryside. Our stay couldn't have been nicer, a lovely quiet base for our explorations of the area. Would definitely recommend Strawberry Hill campsite if you are looking for a relaxing time, it felt like we had no neighbours due to the positioning of the caravans.

This is a lovely campsite with views across fields, very rural but in easy reach of shops and local attractions; there is even a bus stop outside the gate.
From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome, the pitches are very well kept and roomy. We had plenty of room for our large motorhome, car and trailer. Our 8 day stay was very enjoyable we particularly liked the relaxed atmosphere and lack of regimented rules applied on some campsites.
All the facilities are conveniently sited and very clean and tidy.
We will most certainly stay at this site again.

Just had another fantastic weekend at this site. The owners go out of their way to welcome you and make sure you have a pleasant stay. If you want a relaxing chill out time, then this is the place to go. The weather was perfect too, which makes a big difference. The facilities are lovely, nice hot showers & clean loos. There is a nice dishwashing area next to the shower block which is covered so ideal for campers. The pitches are nice & big so there is lots of room if you want to put an awning up. Everyone we met there was so friendly, we took our 12week old puppy Bailey with us for the first time and he had a whale of a time with all the other dogs there. I can. T praise this site enough & we will continue to return there time after time. This site is only 40minutes from home so is very handy for us. Well done for all your hard work & making this a very special place.

Just returned from a 2 night break at this campsite.
The owners were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating.
We were with family who also had a large tent and were given 2 excellent pitches next to each other.
The site itself is very picturesque with hundreds of trees and shrubbery sectioning off the various fields. Also the surrounding scenery is beautiful with poppy fields and sloping hills.
Most of the people on the site were returning customers and now we know why.
All in all a great weekend. Will definitely return and also recommend this to our family and friends.

Just back from a lovely stay at Strawberry Hill Farm.
Delightful campsite with lush green pitches, billowing hedges studded with pink Dog Roses and dusted with sugary Cow Parsley.
Really friendly and helpful owners who keep the site spotless and tidy but without spoiling the country feel.
The shower block is spacious and clean and I never saw anyone else in them. The showers were hot (maybe a little too hot for kids).
We were visiting Durham University Open Day and it was a very easy short drive in to the city.
Only slight draw back is the road noise at night - as we were in a tent I heard it the first night but the bird song competes well at dawn !
Hopefully we will be back one day !

Just back from spending 5 great days at this site. We found the owners polite and very helpful.
The pitch selected for us was ideal. Spacious and sheltered.
We quite understand the owners concern for visitors having the correct EHU leads. They want to protect their electrical infrastructure and other visitors do not want interruptions to the supply.
The road noise wasn't a problem but walking in and out of the site was a bit dicey. A dual carriageway with no defined footpath.
The electricity being metered is an excellent feature. In 5 days of using a fridge, an occasional use of a heater in the evening and various phone/laptop chargers our bill was only £1. 50. Compared to other sites where using the same equipment we have been charged £3 a day.
All in all a great little site and we would recommend and visit again.

A pleasant stay of one night, despite some atrocious weather for the time of year.
The owner was very welcoming and helpful. Despite the site being on a slope the pitches are pretty level.
The facilities were impressively clean and comprehensive.
I drove 4 miles to the recommended restaurant for an evening meal - it was excellent. There is also a pub which is a bit nearer (not visited).
It is near to a fairly busy road so there is traffic noise, but once inside the campervan I couldn't hear it. I'd say it's essential to have a car here - no problem if you are visiting the areas many attractions by car.

Just returned today after a 3 day break. I booked this site because of the reviews, but on arrival on a beautiful day I was told by the owner I could not use the E. H. U. with my cable as it was not safe? I have had this cable 3 years & was made up by a sparkie friend of mine so I would say it is safe. We had travelled from Lancs so I did not want to turn around & go back. He offered me the camping field without E. H. U. so we pitched. Having been a nice sunny weekend I had to put our milk in a basin of cold water to keep fresh, & ended up buying our food fresh every day.
The toilets were clean & the showers hot when I used them. The owner does not charge for dogs which is a bonus, but there is no dog walk directly from the site unless you want to risk getting a talking to from a farmer, there is a OS map on the wall of the shed near the shop. You have to walk or drive a mile down the road to a bridle way with access to loads of walks. I never bothered as we took the dog out in the car for walks & the A 181 adjacent to the site is a busy road with no pavement as such, we were at the top of the site & could hear the traffic all the time.
We saw Hamsterley forest good for walks & cycles, Durham, & a lead mining museum near Crook called Killhope which was good value. There is a pub about a mile down the road which seemed o. K for food & drink, only had a drink. The shop was never open unless you rang the bell & they didn't sell milk! I liked the area but will not be returning to this site!

I stayed one night at this campsite for the Great North Run. I spoke to Elizabeth when booking, she has a very friendly voice & gave me all the information I needed. I found Howard to be very friendly & helpful. The campsite is a nice quiet place with good clean toilet / shower facilities.
I Only stayed the one night so couldn't really comment on the surroundings, although its only 10 minutes drive to Durham city & there is a nice pub down the road where you can get a good meal & chill out. It certainly served my purpose & I would not hesitate to stay here again. The rates are very cheap. I would definitely recommend Strawberry Hill Farm

A quiet site with friendly, helpful warden and a great information shed for ideas. Basic but very clean and well kept shower block with free, warm showers and fresh flowers - nice touch. We only stayed 1 night in our tourer. Walked the dog over the fields to Shadsworth to the pub which was nice. Sat outside in the beer garden at the rear of the pub. You pay for your electricity use upon departure but don't let this worry you, it was pennies. Will definitely return to this site - thank you.
