What a great little site, pub up road, bus just down lane to York, clean toilets, paying for showers a bit of a pain, but its nice to know I can do it in less than 5 minutes! Friendly staff, showed us -and directed us in as we were late, will deffo return here , bet its even nicer without the sheet ice . Had a little games room/ tv lounge which is a good idea

Booked site after reading good reviews,
I was very pleasantly surprised, it lived up to the great reviews and was better than expected.
We arrived on a cold Friday afternoon, was just about to snow, the site is easy to find and easy to get our big 26ft lunar onto. The site is very well maintained and the 16 amp electric hook up was great and very reliable.
The toilets where excellent and warm and very clean 20p for 5 mins of hot water well worth it to have clean facilities like this.
There is a shop that is open in the morning and afternoon has all the necessities, bread, milk, tea and more importantly cold beer to relax after setting the van up.
I will definitely be returning next year
Only point I would make is Dunnington is just a bit too far to walk in the cold. The windmill pub only 2 mins walk - very nice food, looked nice, but was very busy on a Friday night so get in early or book
There are more pubs and a chippy in Dunnington, you could walk there but I would say local taxi back lol after the odd beer or two.
Highly recommended!

Stayed Thursday to Sunday. Road noise Thursday and Friday nights very loud and intrusive throughout the night.
Well mown field with adequate services but nothing to write home about. No views. Selected it for its proximity to York having failed to get in at other closer sites.
It is close to park and ride which at £2.30 pp return is good value.
Took some leaflets from the shop and selected an outing in York only to find from the tourism office having made an early start, that the leaflets were out of date and the tour no longer running. So do take care!
Shower block was clean but very cold and additional charges made. In this day and age heating in the autumn/winter months should be a given.
Local pub in Dunnington not serving food on the Saturday due to wedding. Glad we checked.
Found another one in Morton where we had an excellent meal busy at weekends so booking may be required. Early bird specials Mon - Thurs.

Very quiet and enjoyable site. There is a games room/tv room which is quiet cosy and an internet access room although we didn't go in it still looked quiet cosy. The shop had the basics and a pic 'n' mix. The showers were hot but the only down side was that you had to pay 20p per 5 mins. We stayed here three nights and on our second day we went into york. We took a little walk to the bus stop which was about 1 mile and got the number 10 bus. We went shopping for the full day and got dropped off at the bus stop. There is a nice pub called the cross keys which we had a nice refreshing pint in before walking back to the campsite.
My overall opinion was that it was a quiet but very nice site.
Will definitely be returning.

Visited this nicely run quiet site. Very helpful staff clean facilities although you have to pay 20p per 5 minutes in the shower. Site shop / office has the essentials you need. Game / tv room had a ping pong table and internet access although we didn't use it. Kids playground was small but enjoyable. We walked about 1 mile into the village of Dunnington which had a few shops nice pub called the cross keys which we had a refreshing pint in. We got the number 10 bus into York. The bus runs approx every 30 mins which cost us £4.10 for two adults and one child. Good base camp to travel into York. Would definitely return again.

Excellent campsite! Toilet block was spotless, as was the dishwashing room. Plenty of hot water, showers take 20ps, so bring plenty of them.
Facilities included a small shop with everything you could possibly need (including alcohol!), a pay BBQ, a microwave and a nice family room. Owners were helpful and friendly, even lending us tape after we foolishly forgot our tent repair kit!
Pitch was a good size, and the whole tent field was well sheltered and drained. We were only there for one night, so didn't get to go into the village, but the Windmill pub down the road does great food, and is reasonably priced.
Other users have mentioned the road noise; I did notice it several times at night, but it wasn't loud at all, and certainly not enough to be a nuisance or to wake us up.
Overall, a great campsite, and one we will certainly be returning to!

A lovely secluded camp site went for 3 nights. The facilities are excellent , toilets were clean with plenty of hot water 20p for a shower. A shop that sold the basics and not over priced. Childrens play park. Also there was a family room with T.V. Ideal for anyone camping on a wet night and were bored. Overall a very good site our only fault was the weather it rained and rained but site was not flooded. Not far the park and ride York.

As many people have said what a lovely clean well maintained site, I think it could also be that the owners are so helpful and friendly. All the facilities that you require on this site, and as said a well stocked shop. Park and ride into york is 5 minutes away. Will be returning

This may be a lovely quiet site, the facilities were nice and clean but unfortunately being on the rally field in very, very wet conditions did not give us a very good impression I'm afraid. Despite having booked three EHU pitches the lady told us on arrival we had only booked 1, so we ended up being given a splitter between two of us, fortunately the third wasn't required.
When we arrived the rally field (which I didn't know we were being allocated) was flooded in places, my son was up to his ankles in water. Admittedly we had been told in advance that it was very wet, but wasn't expecting it to be that wet. By the time we had set up our tents in these conditions it was an absolute mudbath, something that could have been rectified with a little sand, but we were given plastic stepping stones to use, and these were a blessing. I will say the actual area which is the main part of the campsite looked in much better condition, perhaps there is poor drainage in the rally field.
Therefore, unfortunately, not a site we would plan to visit again.

Just come back from this small, very quiet, very nice site.
Mens showers very clean never used ladies but would imagine they are the same.
Lots of room even though quiet busy. Only stayed 1 night so did not get to see much.
All in all we will be back.
