Nice enough site. First field seemed to be caravans and motorhomes and the next one over was the tent field. This backed onto a paddock that had some ponies.
As this is a relatively small site, the single toilet and shower block is adequate and was kept clean. The showers last for 5 mintes after inserting a 20p coin (or 10 mintes if you use the disabled unit) and provided a nice hot shower.
There's a small childrens play area and next to this is a pay as you use bbq, under cover and consisting of 2 hot plates. I didn't use it but according to the instructions, after inserting your pound coin it would reach temperature in 6 minutes and last for 30 minutes.
This site also boasts a games room, which consists of a table tennis table, selection of books, tv/video and internet access.
Laundry area has 3 sinks with plenty worktop space and supplied with dish racks.
This was a nice friendly site and the gentleman who ran it was helpful.
Only draw back for me was the road noise from the A1079, which became apparent as the site quietened down for the night. However we had an enjoyable weekend and nipped into York for the day, making use of the Park and Ride bus service 10 minutes away.

Great site with fab wardens, I dont think I have come across any wardens like these, they are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble.
The facilities are clean and tidy. Shop well stocked. Great kids play area, great home cooking available pies, quiche, cakes, scones all cooked to order and delivered to your van.
If you fancy going to the pub for a drink/meal you only have a short walk either left or right out of the site, ( I am told though that the sports club on the right is about the best value for money, if you go between 4pm and 6pm you can get 2 meals for about £9.00 )
About a mile up the road in Dunnigton itself you will find a fish n chip shop that is very nice, a butcher's shop, post office, Cost Cutter hair dresser's and another couple of pubs .
I have been on 2 other sites in York but neither are as good as this,
We enjoyed our stay that much we have cancelled another booking elsewhere so that we can go back here in 4 weeks time. My brother inlaw and friends have also booked .

Stayed for a long weekend over bank holiday. The site is very clean and the facilities are great.
Kids loved the play area and the big rally field to play football. There is a recreation room as well where they can play table tennis, watch tv, listen to music and there are even books to borrow.
The toilets were immaculate and showers were great, 20p for 6mins but worth it.
The shop is well stocked and the home baking is great. They were also offering bacon / sausage sandwiches cooked on the BBQ. Perfect for when we were packing up.
It is in a fairly peaceful location. Our friends said they could hear the trucks going by on the main road in the early hours but they never bothered me or the kids. There are some lovely walks nearby too, perfect for dogs.

Just come back from having a lovely w/end staying at Ashfield. It was so clean with all the facilities you could wish for and in excellent condition. The 'wardens' were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It was a fairly well stocked shop with facilities for ordering fresh bakery and newspapers. They also had a lovely selection of home made jams and chutneys, hand painted beakers and for a first, they had a small selection of alcohol for sale. Never seen that before in a campsite!
Only thing I thought missing was a wee bit of heating in the washrooms. Yes I'm soft!
The Windmill pub just half a mile away served up a terrific dinner to round off the evening. Yummy!

Me and my boyfriend have just returned from 2 nights stay in a tent at Ashfield Touring Caravan Park, it was freezing cold and it rained a few times but we loved every minute of it ! The campsite is immaculate ! The toilets and showers are cleaned every day and were never dirty ! You pay 20p in the shower for 6 minutes but its the best shower I've seen on a campsite, its just like being at home !
They have a lovely bbq area (unfortunatly we couldnt use due to weather) and a recreation room which has tv, table-tennis, games, books etc and also a little convienience shop ! much more than your average campsite !
The owners were helpful and welcoming and they also had an information point were you could pick up leaflets, etc, of nearby attractions ! Would defo recomend this campsite and will defo be returning !

First trip in our first caravan.
Agree with everything previously said - a truly great site.
Facilities were excellent and all pleasently presented.
Location great for York centre and East coast.
We arrived later than anticipated and the owner came out on a cold November night and was very helpful.
Only one complaint and that was that we missed the home baking as it was so late in the season - only answer is to go again!

When we arrived the site was very quiet as it was the first week of the Scottish school holidays. Owner was very helpful and friendly, the facilities were excellent our toddler enjoyed the playpark, it was a great base for York. Enjoyed our stay will definitely be going back.

A small family run site which is friendly, spotlessly clean and great for families or couples. the owners are polite, helpful and friendly ( something of a rarity in our experiences). 20 minutes walk to bus for York but then a regular service. I would recommend this site. We will definitely return.

We went to this site last weekend. The site was easy to find and was set in lovely countryside. The owner was very friendly and told us all the information that we needed to know about the site. All the pitches on both fields have electric which makes a refreshing change to other sites we have stayed at previously. There is a children's play area for children to use which is situated near the toilets/showers and shop. The toilets are clean but there are only 3 ladies toilets and showers so you have to judge the best time to go. The block is left open all night so that you can use the facilities during the night. The shop is well stocked and is reasonably priced and it also sells home made products i.e. Cakes, pies and preserves. They can be ordered and delivered direct to your tent whilst still hot. I tried a slice of coffee and walnut cake and it was delicious. We think the site is very reasonably priced during school holidays considering some camping sites charge extortionate prices when kids are off school. The site is not far from York so you can go shopping or to the water world swimming pool which is brilliant for kids and not just the small ones but the big kids in our families. I know I'm waffling on but I would really recommend this site to anyone and we will definitely be going back again

Notice from Ashfield Caravan Park With reference to previous comment from DaveyDave (May 2007). Unfortunately due to a problem with a thermostatic mixer on the hot water supply we could not turn the boiler to full temperature as the hot water taps could have scalded someone. The problem was caused by prolonged use of all showers on a busy weekend. The problem has now been rectified. We apologise for this, but in the interest of safety thought it the best option.
