Just had our second visit to wing Hall we love it, basic yes, but that what camping should be. The best shop in the area, try the bread,
Four fields to pick from, Adult only, EHU, and no facilities in one of the fields we went in the adult only as I can't be doing with other folks kids it was good, free showers, but very basic, no real sink for wash and shave stuff, so used the washing up bowl, great cafe for meals if you don't want to cook.
Great pub in the village, and the food is top class, not open on Sunday night.
The site is handy for Rutland Water places to eat and a pint.
So all in all basic, but fab, back again in two weeks.
One thing why do campers let their dogs crap in the camp field ?.
Regards Belper Bloke.

This place is horrid. We were charged £10 more than other people we met in the pub. ! Uou are made to buy an electricity card, even though from what I saw, there was always electricity on the pitches.
The facilities are rank. Dirty, smelly and unclean. Not a lot of investment done to this place in many years. £35 per night for filth. Not good at all.
Will not be going back. EVER.

Had a family camping weekend here with friends and had a really good visit. Really communal feel with all the kids playing together around a tree with a rope swing. And then pitches around the edge.
We were in a gently sloping field. Pitch size reasonable. Chickens roaming around and being a little bit cheeky at times but not a nuisance, generally a bit of amusement.
Toilet block was in a bit portakabin style for the toilets/sinks, then with showers in a separate part by the hall. Freezers available for general usage.
We just relaxed on site and had a stroll locally through the fields so nothing to add on local attractions. There was a solo singer in the early evening who played on the lawn in the hall area - not my usual cup of tea, but it was a nice atmosphere with folk/families listening and kids playing.
Would definitely return in the future.

The site is in a beautiful spot. We were on the chicken field they were no trouble ignored our dog. Sadly for the cost the facilities are a little rough and ready.
The matting in the ladies limited showers had not been cleaned under for some time, not keen on the communal drying space.

Nice site with basic but clean and tidy facilities. Sadly not really enough facilities for the size of site. (only 1 female sink and two male cubicles). The staff were helpful and the pitches well looked after. We were in the field furthest from the entrance. We had excellent views and a very peaceful stay. Certainly had a good chance to see the stars here.
It has to be said that several reviews talk about the 'chicken field' and we are glad we were not in that field. Once away from the one field with chickens they are no issue at all.
Locally visit Stamford.
Takeaway is available in Oakham and Uppingham

This place deserves a good review! Recent camping for 2 nights at weekend, helped by excellent weather.
There was a lot of space and in Field 4 (at back of Wing Hall) we had a lovely view across the valley and were close to showers, toilets, washup etc. Chickens roamed freely ignoring the cars and co-existing with lots of children, who seemed to be having a great time.
There is a good cafe/bar looking onto a lovely garden terrace, and on Saturday night we were even serenaded by a (very good) live jazz singer. Showers simple but functional, shop well-stocked, everybody looked happy.
The website looks a bit rule-heavy, but it didn't feel like that. It's also a quick and easy drive to Rutland Water, and you can easily walk across to the lovely village of Wing and its local pub. I think if you had a pitch on flat area on north side of driveway you might find it a non-view and maybe overcrowded, if you go onto the valley side you should be happy!
Would definitely go back and may well do very shortly.

We arrived at 4pm on Saturday and was directed to a great pitch number 8 in field 2. Fab views over the hills. The site is rustic and full of charm. Toilets not great but compared to some of the soulless Caravan club sites I have stayed on this one is great. Its full of life with children and animals. Fire baskets and wood is available from the excellent farm shop. The restaurant and bar has great views over the lawn where children can play. For those campers who like the stuffiness of CC sites stay away. If you want proper old schools camping with a touch of class then this is for you.

This was our second visit to Wing Hall & we just love it!
Great little shop with a great choice of fresh produce. The Veranda cafe is a great addition for those who don't want to cook! Not eaten there but the feedback always seems good.
Camping is rustic & if you want a perfect pitch then this isn't the place to be! Showers & toilets are clean but old. For me it just adds to the charm of the whole place.
There are no play areas for the kids but that doesn't seem to bother them as there imaginations run wild by playing in the wooded area & of course playing with the chickens!
So in a nutshell if you want glamping then forget it! If you want back to basics camping then this is the place to be!
Wing Hall makes a great base camp if you want to visit Rutland water. If you need supplies then Uppingham & Oakam are a short drive away.
Already planning our return!

1st time on this site, friendly staff and clean toilets and shower blocks, was only my 4 year old sons 2nd time camping and he loved every minute of it here, climbing the trees, going on the rope swings, feeding the chickens. Wasn't very crowded, and friendly fellow campers as well, my son soon made friends. Wishe we were there for longer as was only there 2 nights, the thursday and friday, people were arriving friday mainly. Shop is well stocked with everything you could possibly need. All in all a great camping experience and will definitely return

Arrived for the bank holiday weekend. On arrival we were allocated pitch 209 which would have been a bit of a squash for our average sized family tent and car. I walked back up to reception and the chap there was very accommodating and allocated us number 12 and said it was ok if we stuck out a bit! We had booked for 3 nights but due to the poor weather forecast decided only to stay for 2 and again the chap on reception was very understanding and said if we wanted to extend that wouldn't be a problem and that others were doing the same ( a refreshing attitude!)
The site was fairly busy but not full and a chat with the chap in the shop revealed many had booked but pulled out because of the variable weather forecast! This meant we had the pitch on one side occupied for one night only and the others vacant for the duration of our stay (we may have spread out a bit more had we known this in advance!)
We didn't use the wash up facilities as we prefer to wash up by the tent. I used the shower at 5pm on the Saturday and had the block behind the shop to myself with oodles of hot water (free shower. Bonus!) and the facilities were spotless.
Would I return to the site? Probably! The shop was a bonus and although a farm shop served our needs, great to find ice after a drive. I can imagine that if completely full, the pitches may feel a bit too close for comfort but now having been we might request pitches if possible.
Location near to Rutland Water was great and a had a lovely couple of hours in Stamford too!
