I found this Haven site really nice and will definitely be going back there again.
This site is situated across the road from a fantastic long sandy beach that has so much to do there, cafes, funfair, donkey rides, shops and a beach train.
The restaraunt at this site was quite big so you could get a table even when busy, was quite pricy but lovelly food and good range although they did not cater for celiacs.
The caravan we had was very clean, only bad bit was we were close to the entertainment building so was noisy at night.
The entertainment was great, plenty of amusements even a small funfair on site. There is a spar shop on site that was quite big and well stocked. The car park on this site was quite small so cars were parking on the paths.
This for me is the best Haven site I have visited as there was a lot for children to do.

Good Points :-
Close to lovely beach - 5 minute walk.
Mablethorpe - 10 minute walk, nice town.
Within 30 minute drive to both theme parks and Skegness.
Local Pub - Ferryboat - 5 minute walk, nice meals.
Bad Points :-
Toilets - disgusting and smelly.
Touring Pitches - partial road access then just a bloody mess.
Food and Drink - expensive.
Shop - expensive.
Don't think I will return or a lot of other people I spoke to, rained on and off for the week and pitches ended up a mess, muck, mud and puddles.

Go to various havens regularly and this was our first trip to golden sands
Upon arrival we drove the (seemingly excessively long distance) to the touring office which is located in the touring pitches area at the end of the earth but were ten minutes late so it was closed. Phoned the out of hours number and got no answer so drove all the way back to the reception which was also closed. Proceeded to chase round camp looking for anybody to help. Half hour later somebody decided they could be bothered to send somebody down to site us, in half an hour! Soone hour from arrival they were bothering to site us which when you have a 4 month old baby is not impressive!
Turned out the bloke had been on his half hour fag break so we were waiting whilst he smoked himself silly!
The site is outdated, horrendously laid out, expensive and not up to scratch.
The touring area is a ridiculous distance from the main complex which itself has only one entrance to a massive area so is a total nause to get in and out of especially when the entrance is as far away from the car park as possible.
The main car park is too small, never any spaces. The staff park on paths which then means we had to walk on the road around their vehicles with our pushchair!
We paid for the top touring pitch, the euro pitch, and we're as far away from the toilet block and park as possible, potholed roads to the pitch, no lighting in the vicinity, miles from anywhere.
The pool had one family changing room for a camp of over 1000 caravans! Clever eh?! Pool was hot first day and cold the next
Area is rubbish too. Nothing nearby and mablethorpe is a dive
Avoid!

My partner and I and 2 small dogs stayed on the basic pitch because it was much flatter than the electric one, nice place, toilet block and showers were pretty clean, entertainment was jus catering for adults with kids, the beach is quite a walk from the basic pitch so we drove there, dogs are allowed on this beach.
Don;t forget your earplugs, the win turbines in the night sound like an invasion. The first night I thought we was near a very busy airport because funny enough in the day time you don't notice them but at night. This and this alone is the only reason I would not stay there again. If I was to be struck deaf, I would because where we pitched near the lakes in the sunset having supper it was quite pretty.
The staff are quite friendly if you need em but leave you to it if you don't. Its a shame but same as I said the giant windmills spoiled it to much noise pollution and very noisy at night

Been camping here for the last 7 years in touring yes generally the place is really good. I have made many friends down in Mablethorpe and Ingoldmels due to being a regular visitor. The touring manager is a good friend and is always helpful. We're down here now with many friends who come down 2 to 3 times a year - most are old but enjoy their stay. However the cleaners are not doing their job, there has been some good cleaners over the years, but this year the toilets and showers never have any toilet rolls.
The campsite is clean and tidy overall and some of the staff are helpful and really friendly. I know that the rise in costs affects many companies but there has been no change to the park in the last 7 years I've been coming down (apart from staff ) Generally I think it could be made a nice friendly place to be as the locals are always friendly and happy to chat or help

We've stayed here before and as last time chose a hardstanding pitch. Basically it's a field full of former static hardstandings - so a nice large concrete base with water, electric and drainage. You're even encouraged to empty your cassette toilet down the soil pipe on your pitch - saves walking to the Elsan point anyway.
Looks like the warden is new this year, far more helpful, friendly and interested than those last year - he even walked me round to help find the best pitch (i.e. the only one left that wasn't flooded).
Luckily for me, I was able to choose one where the awning area was raised meaning that I could put it up without everything getting wet.
The rest of the field was a bog requiring a tractor to pull caravans and motorhomes off their pitches. Walking to the showers in the dark meant you could expect to sink upto your ankles in muddy water at least once!
Very little has changed since last year, the only thing different I could see was that there were now fencing screens outside the toilet doors., men can now have a wee without everyone seeing them!
Other than that, all the resort facilities seem the same - Funworks still saps money from beleaguered parents

This is our first visit to this site, on arrival we were directed to the touring reception and greeted very well, we were shown to our pitch which we picked close to amenities and fishing pools. Unfortunately the weather was against us, which cannot be predicted I know. The rain was horrendous and everyone on the touring site was flooded, inside the awnings and tents was like a mud bath, at no time did anyone offer any help whatsoever, it was awfull, the whole field was flooded.
The toilets and showers left a lot to be desired, the water was barley hot enough to bath a new born baby. I went to the touring reception to enquire about the shop, the gent on duty was quite rude, and snapped at me that the shop was through that door, even though there are no signs in the reception area to indicate this, hence we didn't use the site shop again. Needless to say we will not be returning to this site, and I certainly wont be recommending the site

Overall the campsite was well run, busy and the facilities were satisfactory.
We pitched our tent in the 'basic' field just behind the two lakes, plenty of space for our tent, car and dog!
Overall the facilities were good with the toilets and showers clean and the water hot.
Loads for the kids to do and the campsite comes across as a really safe environment for kids with loads to keep them entertained. A nice touch is the signs around the site explaining a bit about the wildlife found on site, spotting half a dozen water voles was definitely the highlight of my step-daughters stay.
Originally booked for two nights, but decided to stay for three and the touring office were more than happy to sort this out. Checkout time is 10am but were left a little later and nobody complained.
The campsite seemed fairly quiet at night but we were a bit out of the way and because of the cold weather most people seemed to be bedding down early!
The facilities on the campsite and the whole site overall seemed to be very well looked after and well maintained, however a trip to Mablethorpe town was another matter. The town itself looks to have seen better days and comes across as one giant run down amusement arcade cum pound shop. However don't let this put you off too much as the town has a very big selling point. The beach.
If miles and miles of unspoilt beach with perfect golden sand are your thing then you can't go wrong with the beach at Mablethorpe, it's got to be one of the best around!

This is the first time that we have visited a large commercial (Haven type) site, and probably the last. The camping fields are split, one for campervans/caravans and another for anything with canvas. The field itself was quite flat and the hook up worked fine. The toilets and shower block were cleaned daily but were some what abused by some campers who could not or would not clean up after themselves. Noise was more than we are used to after 11pm, mostly with campers returning from the club complex which is a 5 or 6 minute walk away but we could not hear noise coming from the complex itself, don't know if this will change when the site is full.
The staff on the campsite were very helpful and we got the impression that if we had a major problem it would have been dealt with. We didn't use the entertainment complex or food vendors so cannot comment on them.
Mabelthorpe is a typical 1960's holiday resort, a great place to go with kids.
The beach is split, turn right and you have a wonderful beach with donkey rides, a fair, lots of cafes and shops and access to the local park, turn left and you are on the doggy side, dogs are allowed on the beach but facilities are almost nil only one reasonably priced cafe that allows dogs in if required. The beaches themselves are some of the cleanest and best around.
There is a sand train that runs from the beach at the Golden Sands end to Mabelthorpe but the dunes and beach are so good it would be a shame not to walk.

Stayed here in October half term.
Touring site ok, but only ok.
Showers toilets etc all ok
Our children thought the facilities, club etc, on the site great, but the pool is far too small for the size of the site and was always packed.
Also site situated about a ten minute walk from club.
Loads to do around there and the seal sanctuary across the road is well worth a visit
Beach great as well.
We got a special deal when we stayed, really good value, but if I was to pay full price, ie in summer, would be disappointed I think.
